The Stein+ or the fender reverb?! I had the Stein and a block letter 5150...I traded that for a Cobra. Different tone than a 5150...but just as usable. But the stein is great for metal. Super tight, lots of gain...and it definately has a unique voicing. I wont be selling mine

@shambometallicafan dont get the marshall thats a solid state amp, get a tube amp! either the krankenstien+ or 6505+, theyre both pretty thrashy, trivium uses the 6505s and james hetfield uses the krank in the studio so theyre both good heads, so play them both and get which ever one feels and sounds best to you

I have one of these and love it,but I have to say that these video clips do not do this amp justice....very muddy and inarticulate tones on most of youtube with this amp..this amp is very ballsy and in your face...but alot of people seem to like that washed out,overly bassy tone....but the amp is very versatile and the clean is great...

If you CAN play.. a single coil pup (any guitar Strat, LP Flying V) will get you any Metal.. again the key is "If you can play".

Krank is certainly not out of business, nor anywhere near that. The company factory is about 3 miles south of my house. I took my Marshall TSL100 to Tony Dow (creator of Krank) today to have him re-tube it and go over it. His shop is full of new units ready for final testing. My Marshall sounds killer again, but Tony sold me on Krank amps today and I'll be picking up a Revolution or Krankenstein within the next month or two. These are KILLER amps and VERY well made!

Alright, I was so wrong on this thing. After trying out some new techniques and most importantly, actually CRANKING the volume on this amp, I was able to come up with some pretty beeftastic tone. I have, I used all of the presets that came with the amp, and recommended presets, and none of them sound good. I've used it with a Dean ML with Seymour Duncan's, an ESP with EMG's and a baritone Schecter guitar, and it just doesn't sound as good as the rectifier or Peavey 6505. I might just not be turning it up loud enough though, I can really only get the overall volume up to about 5 before my house starts falling apart from shaking.

Really? Have you ever recorded the Krankenstein. I've spent hours on end trying to get this amp to translate well onto a recording, But in general I have just found it has no midrange. I am definitely open to the idea that it is a great amp, and I just don't know how to use it properly, but most people I talk to say the same thing.

Oh my god dude! Do not make the same mistake I made! I was in the same position as you, deciding between a rectifier and a krankenstein. I chose the krankenstein and it was one of the worst decisions of my life! The rectifier sounds so much better and the krank sounds just awful. It has like three sweet spots where it sounds decent, but other than that it sounds like thin crap. The demo you hear here sounds pretty shitty, and this tone is great compared to most of the tones you will get from it.

I have the krankenstein, a 5150 and a recto. I wouldnt say the mesa is better...just different. Its tighter for sure...tone is different though
