Obama is a superslick master swindler & CON-man who has deceived America with his criminal past & FORGED birth certificate- and has the newsmedia covering up for him- Every part of his life is a LIE- He has hidden or destroyed every part of his past history at the cost of millions & this is not the actions of an honest or decent man- especially the president- Obama even surrendered his LAW licence to avoid an investigation- U will be called a RACIST if U R not deceived by this FRAUD-
This is an oversimplification on so many levels. But lets try one of those levels - "automated tellers"
A Bank lobbies congress for tax breaks so they can invest tax money (not profits) into technology - aka automated tellers. The Banks then layoff US bank employees to replace them with these automated tellers.
The secret is that the Automated Tellers are designed, built and supported overseas. So yes "jobs" are created .. but they are not American jobs.
This is what we mean when we say Corporations Steal American Wealth to invest in other countries. These corporations do not use their profits .. they use money they should be paying into the Tax System (you know for roads, defense, worker social support) in order to invest in new non-American markets.
I like capitalism .. I want Americans to start new businesses in America. I do not want to use my tax dollars so corporations can save profits when investing in China.
@mcowan wow you have very little understanding of economics
i could buy a shirt for $10 from China, or $20 from the US. i buy the $10 China shirt because i save $10 to spend here in the US.
in the meantime, the Evil Corporations you hate, located here in the US, but invested in the Chinese manufacturing plant, still gets my original $10 for the shirt
in the end the money stays here in the US, with minor costs staying in China
by saving $10, im now $10 richer vs if i bought the US $20 shirt
@Zaxxon2008 You are wrong. Lets use Walmart as an example. They create a store in your area and sell everything cheaper (not just shirts). The majority of that merchandise comes from Asia. Local stores can not compete and go out of business.
Walmart takes every single dollar in profit and moves it out of your state. In addition they take a large percentage of that profit and reinvest it outside of the US. In the form on stores in other countries, manufacturing, service related costs.
@mcowan so by your unintelligent reasoning, the Mom & Pop stores should be dominant locally, charging me more $ for products, and making me poorer as a result
that sounds SO good!
Walmart does NOT "takes every single dollar in profit and moves it out of your state." They take their profit and pay their employees, pay their property taxes, pay their corporate tax, the employees pay their local/state/income tax
Mom&Pop pay no corp tax, a fraction of Walmarts property tax, fewer employees, etc
@mcowan You are wrong. That Wal-Mart offers cheaper products to consumers means that more resources are available for those consumers to buy other things - simultaneously improving the living standards of those computers and creating still more jobs in those areas where those remaining resources are reallocated. That local stores go out of business because they cannot compete is only half the equation. The notion that jobs are destroyed on a net basis is pure economic ignorance.
@mcowan As corporations overwhelmingly get their wealth by providing goods and services that people want (it is "stolen" from no one) and since their profits are taxed more heavily than in nearly every other country in the world (taxes wasted overwhelmingly by politicians who do a poor job - particularly in social support) and investment in non-American markets result in lower prices and more economic efficiency for Americans (the thing that creates jobs) your whole argument collapses.
@mcowan you misunderstand the basic principle in what you call "tax money" IS the banks profits
your so-called "tax breaks" is the govt, being oh so benevolent (HA!), as to ALLOW someone to actually get to keep THEIR OWN MONEY
ATM's don't lead to layoffs
tellers are in the bank, ATM's are a convenience feature for bank customers for when they can't get to the bank. but tellers are still needed in the bank to conduct in-store transactions
btw, ATM's, just like the iPhone, are designed HERE
@Zaxxon2008 The Tax Money is not bank profits. You have to pay taxes to own a business in America. That money pays for roads to your store, police and fire as well as all of the social work required to maintain a civil society that grows .. as opposed to a warlord driven society.
It costs money to maintain a society where businesses can operate in safety and with limited corruption. Go back to the robber baron days .. or the gangster days of this country if you want to see limited government.
@mcowan Keynesian Statism advocates change or reform through GOV'T action.
Give ANY politician or bureaucrat power to "redistribute & regulate" OTHER people’s money & choices and they will ALWAYS benefit THEIR “special interest” campaign backers; Financial-Industrial Complex, Military-Industrial Complex, Marxist Unions, Giant "Green" Corps, Big Oil, Pharma, Insurance etc.
Statism = Political Cronyism.
Fed’s FIAT (counterfeit) debt-currency FUELS THE FIRE!
@mcowan If you really believe that the bulk of your taxes are spent on necessary services or that the absence of taxation at the current ridiculous level would result in a warlord driven society, your disconnect from reality may be to severe to cure. NONE of the so-called "social work" of which you speak is at all necessary to "maintain a civil society".
And the "Robber Baron" myth has been long obliterated - the period was one of the biggest improvement in worker wages/conditions, etc.
@mcowan Since, of course, the Luddite position has been completely oblitearted and since free trade CREATES jobs (not to mention the fact that ATMs in the US are overwhelmingly designed and built IN THE US by NCR and Diebold) complaining about oversimplification looks pretty foolish when buttressed by glaring factual inaccuracy.
If not for the Ron supporters I would give up on this country. Great toon.

@mcowan "Tax money," as you originally used it, IS the banks profits, NOT taxpayer dollars being handed over to a bank
you said "Bank lobbies congress for tax breaks so they can invest tax money (not profits)"
a tax break by your benevolent govt (sarc), is allowing banks to keep more of its profit, its OWN money, to invest
current payroll tax break isnt handing tax money over to people, it is ALLOWING people to KEEP their OWN damn money they EARNED
its not the govts money to begin with!
