My favourite (or maybe that's least) is what I called the 'big American laugh' as a child in the seventies. It used to happen at the end of shows like the A Team and Star' & Hut. After a tense dramatic denouement the tension would be released with a lame joke or situation and the characters would break into rofl fits then- freeze frame

thats what happend to the cast of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series! cause like they had a different cast for the anime and a different one for the games, but when the voice of eggman (from the games cast) died, they replaced him with his anime voice actor and then they decided to just replace all the video game cast with the anime cast

Good video you've put up, but I think you've misunderstood TV Tropes a little. Tropes Are Not Bad. They are simply a list of plot devices that could be considered cliche/incredibly bad/obvious, but if executed properly, turn out to be really good for the story. Besides, there is no such thing as The Tropeless Tale. You can look these things up on TV Tropes, for clarification.

When I was a young media critic watching cartoons in the 80's, my sensibilities were shaken by the tropes that littered shows like Thundercats and The Smurfs. I agree with the earlier commenter that tropes themselves are value neutral, but when they are overused by lazy writers they end up creating the kind of cultural touchstones that define generations. Like it or not, "it was all a dream" will always be hanging around somewhere, messing with our brains and lowering our expectations.

That was pretty sweet! Though, I kind of wonder if you haven't misrepresented what TVTropes, and tropes as defined by it, are all about. "Tropes Are Not Bad" for one thing. I also think that tropes aren't normally "used" so much as they just kinda happen, though it's debatable in how far the writer in question is aware of it...

Another great episode!

The whole "reset button" and "monster of the week" is why I usually prefer scifi films over TVshows. Take Firefly and BSG. There's no storyarc developments in most episodes. It's an insult to the viewer when the characters are in exactly the same position by the end of the episode as they were at the beginning. There must be some sort of reward from the writer for sitting through the episode

Marvel comics loves the reset button, every time a title gets a new writer they go back and change what the last person wrote

Marvel and other comic companies also love that Reset Button, whether it's suddenly undoing one or two certain plot elements (like Spiderman's marriage) or just beating the whole continuity senseless with one of their occasional universe-wide Crisis type things.
