your right Jexcee they did make up for it, but oh so close at Le Mans, same for the blisteringly fast YHP-90 Nissans, a pity, well at least Mazda won one Le Mans race

The Toyoat TS 010 and l;ate 90's 020 should have won LE Mans, especially 98/99 with great drivers and unforunatley a tyre burst on the last lap killed them, the earlier 010 version here were very fast ,, great driving crews. Shame really

@Quadrant14 and this was one of the closest they ever came to winning lemans too.. well they made up for it in a way with lexus in the Rolex "sportscar" series right?

why that always happen to TOYOTA! they always broken the gear box...... and i think they should do more research.....because when the practice and qualify they so fast and when start racing they not fast as qualify and always problem with gear box ....

You know, Thats really freaky. Aside from '99,

Toyota's Lemans cars that had a shot at winning the big prize ALWAYS had either Gearbox/Driveline issues within sight of the chequered flag.

Because when you qualify, you Sprint. Its not for an extended lenght of time, so the turbo's can be tuned for more boost, have softer compund tires, and run with less fuel. When the race, especially Le Mans which takes 24 hours, everything is set back to make the car last. 935 Porsches with twin turbos could produce up to 850 HP in qualifying trim, but during the race, were around 550-600HP.

Depends on the length of the race, 935s could use up to 750 HP for sprints.
