  • shame it's only 26 seconds long :(

  • @MrSean6919 i have a longer vid.. :)

  • slapa da bass

  • the ged is just so versatile. I had some salesman immediately ask me, "Are you a Rush Fan?" when I wanted to try out the one I bought, vid on my channel. "No, I have a love for maple neck Fenders with binding and blocks." Pretty much everything sounds nice on them and the necks are super fast.

  • @clank4001 yeah bro! i love maple necks... and the ged, on top of being versatile, looks awesome too. ;)

too bad the fret "inlays" are painted on, not actual inlays...

  • @lucidmist painted on? are the older ones like that, or the new, because mine look like they are actual inlays

  • @clank4001 hey clank... i think the inlays have always been painted on.. i'm not sure though, but i heard it's cos geddy likes his fans to be able to afford his bass. :) actual inlays cost a bomb!

  • @lucidmist The way I look at it is: "hey, they didn't rout the fretboard to install real inlays....more wood left on the neck!"

  • @Thompsongs hey man, interesting way to look at it! and u're right too!

  • @lucidmist Thanks! So I have to ask, with the neck being so slim...have you had any bowing or warping issues?

  • @Thompsongs Hey man, I haven't had any issues with the neck so far (touch on wood) LOL. But perhaps it's cos I leave it stored in its hard case.

  • @lucidmist Could be. Are you using standard-gauge strings (.045, .065, .085, .105) ?

  • @Thompsongs hey man... i haven't changed the strings, so they should be standard gauge 0.45...

  • Thats a pretty good slap tone, what kind of settings/ eq are you using?

  • @cornman80 hey man, thanks.. on my bass, i just put every knob on the halfway spot, with mids slightly higher.. on my bass, which is just a 30-watt amp, treble is at 7, with the low and mid at 5. i'm not really good with gear or settings, so i just use the most basic stuff...

  • Great chops man!

  • @TerryMaq thanks man!!

  • @LegoBricKing slapping on j basses sound amazing! thats why flea from rchp spends thousands of dollars on them :P

  • @thechuckwillkill thanks man :)))

  • @LegoBricKing dude i know alot of people who buy this bass because it sounds alot like the american delluxe jazz basses on passive mode for half the price and great build quality and not for geddy's name on it!!!

  • that is just the dumbest thing ever said by anyone.

  • @lucidmist Indeed. This is one of the better versions of the JB that Fender sells, and not just because it's the Geddy signature. The early 70's Jazz Basses are well known for their sound quality and tonality. They are good for most any style, save for thrash metal or an application where you really need a clean, scrubbed sound. Even with both singles all the way up, you get a little bit of nastiness there, and that's what makes them fantastic.

  • ... want.

  • @RidgeRacerLord

it's mostly hammer ons... and left hand muting...

  • @lucidmist not only that. the bass sounds really nice.

  • @RidgeRacerLord yeah... and can u believe it's only on a compact home practice Fender amp? that amp's been with me since 1998!

  • @lucidmist wow.... thats really amazing.

  • Ahhhh!! i wish i could do that!!

    nice!! sounds soo good

  • Hey man, thanks so much... this isn't much actually, so many awesome bassists out there... I'm sure you can pick up what I'm doing here easily... Check out the Victor Wooten lessons on youtube!

And I love your songs man! So real and unpretentious!

  • haha ye i play bass but i just cant slap. alright will doo, thx

=D thanks. i put up the lyrics.

  • Great bass! Nice plying ! Take a look to my vids with that same bass...if U wanna

  • Thanks man... checking your vids out now!

  • The best sound I find to get on a geddy jazz is to use round wound strings, stainless steel like he said, you need strings that give off brighter tones in order to get that geddy treble sound, or you can just grab a rickenbacker 4003 :D that works too XD

  • Ha, rickenbacker rocks!!!

  • what kind of strings do you have on your geddy?

  • hey man, stainless steel.. came with it. :)

  • oh, but my amp isn't tat great, so the sound isn't fantastic.

  • fantastic

  • Thanks! :)

  • Hey man... thanks... haven't practised in quite awhile, so abit rusty...

Ha, I listen to some Rush songs, but not really a huge follower. But the musicians are all AWESOME. :)

  • Yo good work with the Geddy. I'm from Singapore too, I also own one, its my favorite bass because once you put light gauge rotosound strings it sounds crazy. Are you a Rush fan by any chance?

  • great slap !!

  • Thanks man! :)

  • cool!

    are you in Singapore?

i used to live there my family is from Brunei!

  • Ha, same here, I have a problem with the usual jazz necks... somehow, just doesn't feel right huh?? That's why it was a blast when I found the Geddy Lee... hehe...

Oh you lived in Singapore before??? I see you're in UK now man... Ha, I wish I could visit there, Singapore is quite boring sometimes lol...

  • I own this Bass too and I love it. I'm basically a guitarist but I really love the feel and sound of this Bass. Nice playing... you're getting some nice spank out of yours. lol!

  • Hey Spock, thanks for your comments... ha, I'm kinda rusty due to lack of practice, will try to improve further! Once again, thanks!!

  • would you recommend this bass? and if so too who and what genres?

I played one and loved it! i only like SUPER Thin or SUPER Thick necks its so weird lol I'm choosing between this and the Yamaha Attitude LTD II for hard rock metal and some speed metal and a tiny bit of classic rock

  • Hey man, this bass is excellent! I'm not sure if it's for everybody, but it works superb for me cos of the slim neck, amazing sound and good workmanship... made in japan, can't go wrong... I don't know about the Yamaha attitude bass though... is it the billy sheehan bass? Tat's a good bass too - slappable as well, but not so groovy as it's still primarily for tapping and fingerwork... just my opinion!

  • yeah man!

my plan was to get the attitude and a new bigger better amp

but i found out i'm going to be moving....

    soooo!

Instead of the attitude and a $800 amp i'll get the geddy lee

and yeah its the Billy sheehan bass

    Thanks alot man!

When i get the bass, a camera, and better i'll post my vids! ;) thanks!

  • Go for it dude!! You won't regret it! I just had to get used to the slimmer bass neck becos I normally play the usual jazz and precision basses... but once you get used to it, it'd be a ball! ;)

  • i know!

i play P-basses and the attitude has the thickest neck of any bass ever!

but i love that and the geddy lee!

I hate normal jazz necks (no idea why! =S) i have to have super thin or super fat! =D

I'm sure it will ;) =D thanks for all the help!

  • Incidentally, I LOVE SEINFELD! "Hellooooo Newmannn..."

  • This is so Seinfeld

  • woo dude awesome

  • ha! thanks bro! but seriously, it's NOTHING compared to many of the bassists on youtube. they're FREAKING good!

  • jaw dropping, steady la!!!

  • Ha... so so only... but thanks. Don't know why recently my youtube keeps getting loading problems... using another comp now. ;)
