It's called a ruler, there are very few curvy buildings, and if they are curvy it's usually art or about to collapse. And you can use a protractor if you want to, it helps keep the shape the same

@hockeymike481 true but i think wot hes really trying to do is sho how to set up a simple city landscape. doing it properly with the corect dimensions is daunting for beginners. especially if uv had no formal training of any kind. sum people cant even picture a city landscape. iv drawn 4 over 10 years now obsessively and even now its still a lil difficult 4 me. im self taught as well but havin a teacher of sum kind can help u draw at a prominant level. tht alot of professinals cnt do. :))

It would be alot easier for begginers to first put your horizon line, add one vainishing point, draw different rectangles, and then do the perspective. How you do that is take a ruler and draw a line from the corners of each square to the vanishing points.

When you draw, you can help your control by keeping it loose and rough. When you TRY to control it too much, with long continuous lines, it looks too forced and too hard. Keep it sketchy and you can always straighten it out better later. =) Just a bit of help from an avid drawer.
