I applaud your efforts in making such a great experiment work! It's amazing how clear the footage is and how remarkable that it landed 30 miles away from launch! Thanks for doing this and congratulations for getting the footage back!
The folks who did this are crazy cool! Seriously! Stuff anyone could buy for a grand or less goes into freakin space and gets very well documented. I love it!
Your next experiment should have something like a powershot G11 or higher, sure it's heavy but those things are built for everything.. and the battery life is AMAZING (like 3-4 Hours recording time even in low temperatures)
@ensinitas The curvature you see is mostly caused by the fish eye lens. You get lots of curvature even when below 3,000 feet. When the camera points above the horizon you get curvature in the opposite direction. This happens a few times between 4:14 and 4:22 (and many other times before that).
Still, it is very cool. You can definitely see a black sky.
btw - you ask to fly a balloon when it can take down an airliner.
MMMmmmmm.... it is possible? A camera whit a SSD memory can suport that cold but a normal camera dont!!! We need more information about this experiment.
Awesome achievement. However I feel this guy is going to get a visit from the authorities and a fine. Unauthorized use of airspace or whatever they can think of ....
You should have also mentioned how you placed a transponder on board, and notified the FAA. Otherwise other people will try to do the same thing and endanger aircraft that are flying through the clouds.

NASA take note! This proves it doesn't take $millions of tax payer buck to do valid research. Well done, team.

short bus...your fear of 'authorities' is scary. since when do we ask to fly a balloon?
this is a very well conceived experiment...can anyone explain why the curve of the earth flattens st 3:52?
i watched this with my morning coffee...what a great video! and a great accomplishment
