Even the biggest "dirty bombs" aren't quite as big as the nuclear weapons dropped in Japan 60 years ago. There's no reason to believe it'll be a huger threat, or that 100,000 people will die instantly or within a few minutes. The only way that's possible is if the area was extremely dense in population, but even the densest cities have some space.

I mean, even in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, not even close to 100,000 people died within minutes of the blast. It was more like a few thousand.
