go to smash wiki you can find out more about it there. In melee and 64 you could do what is called as a lag cancel which cancels out the animation when you land on the ground from a jump. Allows you to perform combos faster. Also the hitstun was much bigger in melee and 64 than in brawl. Which made it harder to escape combos which made those games competitive.

brawl is more imbalanced than melee, is slower, needs much less techskill, has tripping, and has alot of other ghey things in it, but balanced =/= competitive, neither do combos

competitive is more like if the people compete in it, they decide

The series was intended as a casual fighting game where people take their favorite characters and beat the piss out of one another. Trying to bring a "hardcore" rationale to that type of game, you're gonna be disappointed no matter what. Brawl did what it was supposed to do, and it did it just fine.

online play is possible on anything that supports LAN, becuase the gamecube had a broadband adaptor of course this is possible, any game with multiplayer should work, srsly this isnt anything new, ppl abused this to play halo 1 online (look up xbconnect) and they still use it daily, LAN is used to connect two systems together via ethernet, but of course you can spoof it into connecting to the internet, and thats the trick behind this

Not much. If someone DCs, you experience some funny issues. Melee online is pretty much better than Brawl's Wi-Fi, and with the addition of better players than Brawl, it can techincally make Brawl obselete. Kinda odd to think of it that way. XD

Well, heres how I see the Brawl vs. Melee argument

I play melee for: Classic graphics, better practice at skill level,classic character/stage roster a more hardcore experience

I play Brawl for: high-res graphics, replays/screenshots, final smashes, larger character/stage roster, wi-fi, a casual experience

P.S. i wish I could do this, but I don't have the patience, or the time, and my computer's busted, thank you Wii Internet Channel!

There was only one claimed "glitch," and that was wavedashing. Do you even realize how much more competitive wavedashing made Melee? It brought the game to a new level, and that's what made SSBM so great. Brawl has nothing that made Melee what it was in terms of gameplay. It sucks. If you try to look at Melee at a competitive level, you'll see why nobody likes Brawl anymore, save little 11 year old kids.

it's slower-paced. it has negligable hit-stun and bad hit-loag, which means one to two hit combos. a lot of advanced techniques were removed.

melee would be more fun than brawl without wavedashing, because wavedashing is a SINGLE exploit. hell, even smash 64 is more fun than brawl because both are more skill-based.

Brawl is horrible. Only casual players or people who have never played a smash game before it think its good. But people who have played/had Melee since 2001 or a little later know Melee is godly and Brawl=shit. The only reason brawl even did good in sales is because of Melees greatness and advertisement 4 it starting as soon as May 2007, which falsely made it look like it was nearly as good or better than melee. Nintendo knew only deception would make its launch successful.

Melee is a FAR better game than Brawl. You can test your real fighting skills on Melee whereas Brawl is more of a little kids fighting game with all the lights and glamour. Any great Melee player will be a great Brawl player, not so much the other way around.

I prefer Brawl than Melee even though I have experience with both, Brawl just has, more. Melee has more for hardcore gamers, but hardcore gamers don't make the majority of gamers. Play whatever you want however you want to play. Don't bitch about one game compared to another if they're both masterpieces.

Melee WASN'T made more for hardcore gamers. Smash as a whole was made for casuals with no real thought for hardcore gamers. But Melee accidently gained a large hardcore following. Rather then continue what they've been doing with Smash (hardcore gamers are the freakin minority and yet), Sakurai went out of his way with Brawl to say "fuck tourney players, don't play my game like that". He still failed though...
