Hehe, that's one of the most respectful masacres I've ever hear of a song. I actually enjoyed it a lot. And don't worry, it's very well done for a non native-speaker. I didn't even think it was possible with this song, so thumbs up.
Do you know what the song is about? It's a very delicate and poetic song which does some very strange but playfull tricks with the dutch/flemish language. If you're interested, I could post a translation, although I don't think it would completely cover it.
@CallmeButton LOL....I will have to remember the phrase "Respectful Masacres". Love it! Thanks for the comment. I have been told the translation. Pretty cool song. And Yes, I have been informed of the dutch/flemish thing going on as well. I appreciate the comment from a Dutch speaking perspective! T:)
Great performance T! I had a listen to the original and had just as much trouble understanding it, even though my first language is Dutch. It's actually sung in the Flemish dialect. All that aside, I think it's great that you made the effort, and I still loved the way you sounded.
@singularity64 I DID make the effort for sure Ferdy!! Thank ya so much. Yes, I have been told it is the Flemish dialect. Or something like it anyway! Ha...Have a great week! t:)
Wonderful, T! Love hearing you sing in Dutch, that is so cool! I also love the way you stretch yourself and always try new things.....that's the mark of a true artist! You got so much talent, girl! I owe you a message, will answer soon. The inlaws leave tomorrow, and I'll have some time, lol. J.
@onewomanandsomesongs no prob J. Apparently, my Dutch just ain't that good! ha ha.....It was fun. I thought about starting a new site and singing a song from all the languages of the world. I can't just pick on the Dutch! LOL...It would be horrible. I can't even do the English correctly...LOL..
@ruth7784 ME TOO ruth!! Actually, I did get a translation back on this. Had no idea that I was singing about THAT! LOL...It's all good! Hugs to you too my friend! t:-)
Great cover! I'm Dutch and to be true, at the beginning it sounded to me like you were singing Finnish or something haha. But later in the song it sounded pretty good! You should do more Dutch songs!
@CaptainUkehandles Thank you so much Jas. I was telling some people about your cute Cyclopes song today. I may have to do that one. It is soooo cute! t:)
Dutch with a Texas twang, yeah man! Convinced me you knew what you were singing about. I'm looking forward to seeing you in your wooden cowgirl boots. Be careful, though, doing the Texas two step in 'em could start a fire. Ah, the power of music. All the best. ~ Mark
@russbuss415 The spookie thing is.......I DON"T KNOW WHAT I WAS SINGIN!! LOL Thanks Russell!!! I think it was so bad, people that DO speak Dutch couldn't understand it....therein lies my salvation!! HA t:)
So, what's to understand? It's MUSIC ain't it? It's a language all its own - no matter what language it starts out in... ( but, there's nothing quite like Dutch with a Texas accent!) T, you have a knack for the cool and unusual! This is good.
@cadwalladee Scott, my sentiments exactly....who cares if you can't understand it. I hear plenty of music that my two daughters play I can't understand a word and it is supposed to be in ENGLISH!! UGH...brother!! Take care and have a good weekend coming up! t:)
@agrlfmtx no he is Swiss German but he confirmed this was not just about a good nights sleep. Just tell the hubby you need more sleep. I hope that gets a giggle stay cool and don't take me to serious, I don't.
@GrumpyCoyoteTunes Grumpy!! You are so multi EVERYTHING!! LOL...Now I gots to go get me a translating book to understand yer werds!! Thanks (I think!) T;)
LOL This is great! The first two sentences are in a very strong German accent and throughout the rest of the song you sound just like our Princess Maxima! Haha! Thank you for this one....
@SebastianHawks Forgive me a thousand times for this!! LOL My favorite language to listen to people try to do is when people from Japan try to sing bluegrass in English! I love it!! I played music one time with a guy from Japan who was great! I can only IMAGINE what this sounds like to people who speak Dutch! ha ha..I bet it is a hoot for sure! Thanks S.H.!! T;)
@thakoh Thakoh!!?? Not even ONE word? LOL...and I totally agree with you on the RAP thing! UGH!! Thanks so much for checking this out. I totally forgot that you spoke Dutch.....(sorry) ha ha T:)
@agrlfmtx My Dutch is so well that I confused “hat” with “head” in English :P.
But don't worry about your Dutch. It actuality is a very difficult language. I know even real bilingual people, living in Holland, who still have problems speaking Dutch.
nice, sing thru yer nose, just keep a mouthful of hot potatoes going

But don't worry. The original is also in a kind of slang-street-Dutch.
I love the original by Eva de Roovere. I wouldn't try to cover it, because it deserves a woman’s voice. That's why I hate the stupid rap version.
Your voice was perfect for the song ;)
