@Singlpilot I'm really sorry I don't who got on my account here and left that comment but it wasn't me. I just noticed your reply and was surprised and then read the comment someone left on my behalf was even more shocked. I'm a long time subscriber to your lessons and you've helped me a lot on the steel, I'm forever in debt to you. Again I'll get to the bottom of this and my deepest apologies.
I have a question. What would you suggest for a total beginner reguarding a steel guitar? I have played regular guitar on and off for about 4 years, but I never learned to read music or anything like that, I only know a few riffs and licks, and would rather pick up a steel guitar for fun on the side of life.
Evenin' Mickey, Just joined the YouTube bunch and wanted to add my thanks for what you're so freely doing. I'm a 72 year old "intermediate" (if I might exaggerate a bit) picker who, until I retired never seemed to have enough time for my Mullen RP and now seem to have less for some reason. Your "mini-seminars" are greatly appreciated. I look forward to seeing you in St Louis. This year will be my first time to attend the NSGC 8o)
Thanks for posting, and I look forward to seeing you ther as well!...Youll find me either in the Mullen room, teaching in my hotel room...Or of course wandering aimlessly with no real direction, and a dazed look...LOL
Brilliant, Thanks for all these videos Mickey. They're great help and inspriation. I got my first steel a couple of weeks ago and am about halfway through Cold Cold heart.
Hope life in Dallas is treating you well. I've been working on "Cold Cold
Heart"-thanks, as ever, for posting your great lessons. Your generosity has inspired me to post some 6-string lessons of my own. What type of vidcam to you use to record your steel lessons? Thanks,
Rob, when tuning these stops, yes, use both pedals for tuning the 3 5 6 and 10 strings. When tuning the B C pedals check 3 4 5 with BOTH Pedals down as well.
Hi Mickey, I have a question, using a Peterson Strobe Flip tuner, using the Jeff Newman Sharped E9 tunings. When tuning the strings, do you have the A and B pedals pressed down, or do you tune the strings with the pedals up? Thank you. Rob.
Rob, Your questions answer depends on the type guitar. If an Emmons PP, you tune with the pedal or lever activated, and then tune the open string at the changer. All pull guitar you tune open, and tune pedal/levers with stops at changer. Go to Petersons website and read the PDF for Stoboflip. Thats my advice, it explains tuning in entirety..
I am sorry Mickey, I should have mentioned the guitar in question is a Carter Starter Pedal Steel tuned to E9. Would you happen to know if I would press down the A & B pedals to tune that guitar. Thanks, I love your video lessons. Rob
