I really like the piano and the driving beat in the first part. The second part has a nice percussion sound and still that driving beat. SWEET! Triumvirat was one of my favorite bands from the 70's. Appreciate the upload, eljacare.
I bought this LP in the summer of'75 just when I got out of the Marines. I liked it then and still do. I never knew it was so popular. I thought only a weirdo like me liked it, but am glad to see I was wrong.
Bands like this, Emerson Lake and Palmer etc. made demands on the listening audience not to have a short attention span. Meanwhile the short attention span thinking of top 40 music was competing and winning out. As a result during the brief period in the seventies the so called progressive or underground FM stations played ELP Triumveret even Weather Report an Chic Corea got into it on the Jazz side. Then th big bucks of the Top 40 psychology won out and most of these bands dissapeared.
@4855712 Right back atcha, When I wasn't driving a truck I was a part-time radio announcer on a couple of AM and FM midwest radio stations. Both commercial and public broadcasting. We did play as much of this type of music as we could, but agendas and forces beyond our control won out with the top 40 mentality as well as the loudness wall of sound wars going on on FM(lots of sound prcessing, compression enhancement with the Orban optimod 19khz subcarrier turns on your FM stereo light)
I have been looking for this vinyl for years and I finally found it at the local Value Village thrift store, in good condition too for all of $2.50. what a great find brings back so many memories
@oldschoolrecording Triumvirat on Vinyl in good condition for $2.50?? wow man - you're lucky. I had to buy it for more than 30 dollars... that's a lot for me, i still use my grandfathers turntable....
One of the best prog group ever, f--cking yes, I agree, but why the hell Deep Purple is in this video most of the time ? Rithcie and Jon would love the jam session I think, but the others I'm not sure.... ha-ha-ha
a)Dusty Road: They are on their to Rome Countless slaves to go to war And they are fighting not alone On their way so confident They are carrying missile and spear The desperation disappeared And victory is near In the sea of blood and bones Sands of time stand still Dying on the dirty road Spartacus has come to kill b) First Success On Their way so confident They are carryng missile and spear The desperation disappeared And victory near.
Progressive music was the main music I listened to in 1969-1975.A great message of hope.I knew many British groups who were the leaders, but not Triumvirat. Its so wonderful that the music is available.
One of the best (and most under-rated)progressive rock bands of the 70's...and ever. "Spartacus" is a phenomenal album; every single minute of it is superb!
This haunting song is what started me playing bass. I had the original LP and it got sidetracked years ago. Then...after a long time searching for a decent copy, my girlfriend found a copy that had been in a radio station LP archive and had VERY little play. Gave it to me for my B'day! I was so stoked to get it! Spartacus is an awesome album.
They don't make music this intense anymore. It is all spoon fed to the masses. This stuff you had to think about and savor like a good wine. Thanks to ELP who was also a great influence of this genre.
Oh my God! I have waited over 30 years to hear this song again! I heard it only one time on the radio when I was a young girl, I'm 48 now. I never forgot the name of the song - I wrote it on the inside of a little 2 piece drawer set I had. "March to the eternal city...Bad!" thanks for putting this on! (big smiles)!!! Gina
:-) i feel same... its a record my formely girlfriend brought to me.and there are not much people who now this record.. the lp(!) is called "spartacus" by the band "triumvirat" . I often hear it... greeting from Eberhard
magnífica música, en mi juventud me embelezaba escuchando esta gran composición musical, Triumvirat es un grupo que valiera la pena estar en el Salón de la Fama. Alguien me apoya en esto?
Wow, brings back sooooo many good memories! I saw them at the Paramount Theater in Seattle in the late 70's (sorry can't remember the exact year).
