I grew up in Manningtree, and it's always been a good place for trainspotting. Has a rather nice bar on the station, which is about a mile out of town so it feels like the train is pulling up in the middle of nowhere. I preferred it in the diesel days (back in about '86) when there was quite a range of traction and rolling stock. These days you'll see 90s , 360s, 321s and 170s, with 66s handling most of the freight duties.
