  • Wow that was a very quick response.

I think I need to get an M-audio fast track as I have a Greg Ultimate 545 and sm 57 and bullet high Z mics.

Which M-Audio model do you have as there seems to be quite a few to chose from?

    Thanks again for your time.

    Russ

  • @oxharp

read my message again, I was providing you the model name of the interface

  • Hi Christelle,

I have just bought an iMac computer and would like to know how you are connecting your microphones to the computer and and what you are using to listen with apart from headphones.

I am a Harp player and would like to be able to play with backing tracks through my iMac but I don't know what to buy to be able to do this.

I hope you can do a little video for me.

    many thanks

    Russ - a.k.a Oxharp

  • @oxharp

If you have a microphone type SM 58 or any low impedance microphone, you can use any audio interface (there's as well cheep solution like the iCicle by Blue Micrphone that can connect your microphone via USB, then choosing in the Garage Band preferences)

For the High impedance microphone, you'll have to connect it to an audio interface like the M Audio Fasttrack and plug in it with the jack then choosing in the Garage Band preferences then choosing the channel

  • I think you would get much better audio quality if you created an audio mono track in garageband and recorded input from the fasttrack and played along to the backingtrack. Silmutaneously you could capture the video with quick time pro and insert the video track into garageband and delete the sound recorded by quick time and keep the audio track from garageband. This way the audio would be in sync with the backing track and you could adjust the video track more easily.

    Garageband is a DAW app.

  • Thank you for this - very interesting - and even though I'm fairly new to your channel, I can plainly see that you're also attracting some big names in the harp world and this is wonderful and all to your credit.

  • Thank you how did youfigure this out?

  • Parfaitement expliqué et illustré très utile pour les débutants en MAO !

  • ....... Thank you, thank you, thank you .. How you do this has been a mystery to me and your explanation is going to really help me.... ( my videos really suck) maybe now I can improve them.

  • How do you plug in your mics like an ULTIMATE 58 in your iMac?

  • Very interesting video....thanks Christelle.

    You are very very talented!!

  • wow! thanks a lot for the tech tips!!!

  • Alao that damn garage band has some decent tones in it....Maybe you should just run your harp through a computer at gigs?

  • Yeah that's what I was thinking, but you told me on harmonicaspace that's not a good idea, so I've forgot it....I'll try one day when I'll have money to buy a MacBook but for me there's no reasons that it shouldn't working.

  • @christellester Bonjour Christelle..ne pourrait-on pas avoir la même chose en français SVP ? Vous êtes tellement sympa que j'ose vous demander cela.... Merci... Bise

     Gé

  • Your videos Rule! This was hard for me to understand. My videos will remain in the technologically lame category.

  • LOL, yes this is probably not the best simple way to do videos, but I suppose this is the simplest way that my torture mind has found..... Technology is nothing in comparision of the talent and invention.....I only have the technology....I love you Jason

  • Hi Christelle,

    Love your work.

Qs: How do you get the background music for your songs? How do you strip the voices from the track?

  • Hi Christelle-I have just found your channel- I am going to enjoy watching your videos.!! You are very talented! Thanks for the videos, Pat

  • Merci beaucoup Christelle! That was really helpful. I had been using iMovie, and it's such a big program to load. Your way of using Quicktime Pro and GarageBand seems a lot easier, and better quality! Thank you so much! I have favourited it, and I'm sure will be going back to it many times.

  • Yeah that's a big program to load (even if with the actual iMac or Macbook and iMovie 09 is charging fast) and using Quicktime Pro allows you versatility and the best sound you can get.

  • "Christellester : Queen of the Harmonica

and friend of Jason Ricci : The Jimmy Hendrix of the Harmonica; - Thankyou yet

again for sharing with us All out here in

CyberSpace ! I always wondered how you

recorded so thanks for this very helpful video. Would the latest 'Mac' notebook do

the same job that your 'IMac' does - or is it

better to use a 'Desktop Mac' for recording

    and Uploading ?

    Thankyou Christelle.

  • any Macbook or Macbook pro (the 2 kind of Apple laptop) can do what I've described, and of course upload it to Youtube

  • "OK"...Thanks For That Christelle.

It's 2:30am here in New Zealand on Monday morning and I'm up late because it's a Holiday here Today - and I'm watching your videos and "TRYING" to play the Harmonica like you - but I'm hopeless and It will take me another 10 years practice to sound reasonable !

    'Cheers'

  • Thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this video.

  • Nice to get a chance to see behind the scene. Thanks for the view.

  • Congratulations, Christelle ...on already passing your millionth viewer. Not many get there...it just shows how your music affects people from so many walks of life. You're a brilliant player and I can't wait to have you come to SPAH this summer.

  • Hehe, lol, I can do the harmonica part but I don't have Imac :-D

  • hey mark, you can play harmonica like Christelle? I'd love to hear you, then. Not many are anywhere as good, but that's okay..it's tough to be in her category. Do you have a video, audio somewhere? She has lots of fans who are also harp players who'd love to hear you as well :)

  • Ohoh, next time I will add (joke) at the end of such a line, you could not know. I am sorry to tell you but I don't play any instrument at all :-D I am a fan of C while I normally like metalmusic. I am no expert in harmonica but I do not expect to easily find anyone who can do the same as her...

  • very interesting, love your accent

  • Excellent...thanx!
