Dude you would love to fish here in the South. We have a thing called "titty bream", you have to hold them to your chest to get them off the hook because you can't get you hand around them. Kudos to you for doing a bream show, I know bass are king, but bluegills are just plain fun!

I admit that I don't catch the largest fish. All the lakes and waterways I fish in the videos are public access. I'm in Ohio too where the fishing is pretty tough. Sometimes it's downright hard to get hooked up on public water and the fish aren't as big. I guess I have to fish so long to get hooked up that when I finally do I'm just really, really happy. Good size bluegills! I noticed you were able to pull them in really fast though. If you want try some lighter line like 6lb test and the fight from them is way better. Just a suggestion great video none the less.

@NEWYORKJETS52 true. also small minnows will land bigger bluegill. smaller bigger fish bigger bait. lures for bluegill is pretty nice. you have to get loser to the bottom too. tight lining  with no weight or with a few glass beads always lands me the biggest. you can fish the entire water colmun with a slowly falling bait. Ive always hated using bobbers..but in this case with a bunch of vegetation at the bottom. joe had no choice. good fishin joe

hey joe ive found that when fishing for bluegill .... bait or small lures and the bottom or just above it tends to catch the biggest ones..... try a tight line or just a split shot rig with a 10 inch leader and a mealworm ...and hold on for that 1pounder...trust me joe ive caught many bluegill in the 1 pound rage and even some up to 3 pounds...try it out next time

i make a day of taking my 7yr old daughter BG fishing she uses her hannah montanna set up lol and we take buckets with areators tok keep the gills alive so i can put them in a big chest type freezer i use to keep them alive so i can use them for flatheads in the ohio river

i myself love BG fishing joe i have a few nice 2 piece 8 to 11 ft bucks b&m jig poles the casting ones i just use the little zebco 11 push button reels with 4lb mr.crappie camo line that stuff is super tough and has a really great abrasion resistance from time to time bass hit i have caught a few 3 or 4 pounders when BG fishing thats alot of fun also a few channel cats just a few ponds hit and they are crazy tough to get in on those rigs i usuallu just use trout magnents tipped with gulp waxies

There's something really fun about catching bluegill, especially the big ones. I think it has to do with bluegill being the first fish most of us catch as a kid and we remember how exciting it was to watch that bobber go under!

I spend hours on the water filming for the show and use tons of sunscreen. When I wear gloves I dont have to put sunscreen on my hands. It reduces the amount of scent that I get on the bait which means a lot more fish at the end of the day. I actually had the explanation of why I wear gloves in the video but, because it was getting too long I cut it out.
