The Philippines is a multicultural country, meaning a melting pot of different cultures, so it isn't surprising to see Filipinos with varied looks. At this day and age ethnicity shouldn't even be a question anymore, especially in a country like the Philippines. ALL of the guys above are recognized citizens of the Philippines from the day they were born and are therefore FILIPINOS regardless of ethnic background! Thanks to the Azkals for bringing honor to the country. I'm VERY proud of you!

I am a filipino living in Australia I want everybody to know that almost half of the members of the Australian team have parents who are not pure australians, they were children of migrants from other countries.

One thing I've learned from watching interviews of Fil-something athletes is that they do get hurt when people say that they're "not really Filipino".
If you think about it, they take time out to help their country yet they are essentially rejected by their kababayans.
We're proud of people like Jasmine Trias, Apl.de.ap, and Batista. Why should these FILIPINO footballers deserve less?

As pointed out several times, the Azkals consider themselves Pinoys (I'm a Pinoy who lives in Austria, and my gf is half Pinay/half Austrian, yet she still considers herself a Pinay). Heck, just look at pure Pinoys (I'm looking at you in particular, Fil-Ams) who deny what they are.

i'm so proud of these guys. even though they're not full blooded filipinos, they still embrace the nationality of being half filipinos. And even though some of them have commitments to their other teams or clubs in their countries, they still make an effort to do their best to make our country proud! The Philippines is a multicultural country, meaning a melting pot of different cultures, so it isn't surprising to see Filipinos with varied looks. At this day and age ethnicity shouldn't even be a question anymore, especially in a country like the Philippines. ALL of the guys above are recognized citizens of the Philippines from the day they were born and are therefore FILIPINOS regardless of ethnic background! Thanks to the Azkals for bringing honor to the country. I'm VERY proud of you!

to the people insulting some of the azkals for not being pure filipinos, just check some of players who played last world cup nearly ten of them are just naturalised meaning they don't even have an ounce of blood of the country they are representing. I am a filipino living in Australia I want everybody to know that almost half of the members of the Australian team have parents who are not pure australians, they were children of migrants from other countries.

yeah most of them are half pinoy and half white, why they not let the poor people also to do this? i think they deserve also because they are really sure 100percent pilipino and they can move as really quick, not get easy tired and also they are very strong to do this i think they are full of vitamins because they eat always vegetables instead of the rich people they eat only meat.

One thing I've learned from watching interviews of Fil-something athletes is that they do get hurt when people say that they're "not really Filipino".
If you think about it, they take time out to help their country yet they are essentially rejected by their kababayans.
We're proud of people like Jasmine Trias, Apl.de.ap, and Batista. Why should these FILIPINO footballers deserve less?

@iRepTown almost half of the squad come from the Phil Air Force, no planes/helicopters to fly might as well play football, haha, the rest are Fil-foreigners mostly Europeans, at least they have Pinoy blood flowing in them and have willingly played for our country despite meager resources and dismal support from a corrupt government and football ruling body
