This a mature and good response to that video, which I have not watched. I am surprised that what I thought were intellectual arguments from atheists seems to have decended into juvenile "Dare Yas" - playing a kind of chicken or dare devil like junior high kids. Why don't they instead confess that they are sinners and invite Jesus to come into their hearts and see what that brings ?
I have my own spiritual beliefs but am not afraid. They are not even doing it right to deny the existence of the holy spirit is not what they meant.. what they meant was attributing his power to the devil and/or believing he was the devil: Ok this is more like it: (whether you believe in Satan or not this is better) I renounce the foul odious and evil parasitic holy spirit in the name of Satan most high god I spit on the holy spirit who is foul and the true devil.
Former christian here, reason and logic .. you know the same old tired argument that reason and logic gets you every time, it allowed me to be free of a cluttered mind, look I know I'll never change a Christians mind about religion nor would I care too. We'd argue the same old crap. I just wish they would quit acting like they have an AIR THIGHT CASE . They have a belief plan and simple (operative word being belief). That's what Christians never get, we are often offended by Christan's arrogance.
I don't think atheists hate a god they don't believe exists, it may just be that based on what is written about it, especially in the Bible for example, it or he (in this case) is an evil entity if it exists. For example, if I said Lord Voldermort is evil, knowing fully well that he is merely a character from a fictional book, then would that be me admitting or acknowledging within myself that he really does exist?
He is completely missing the point; we don't think that it's bold and dangerous. That's why the video says "we are not afraid" and that the blasphemy challenge presented by the rational response squad is not to do something that we consider bold and dangerous, but something that others believe to be, so that we can show those living their lives in fear that they don't have to, it's not a way of playing a dare game, but of opening a new era, free of illogical fear of what isn't there to hurt you.
I actually don't disagree with his description, I just disagree with his conclusion. I think if you came from a religious background, there's a portion of your life that is required for truly letting go of God, as Julia Sweeney describes. Making one of those videos seems pointless to me, given that I gave up on gods and religion 20 years ago. But if it had been available to me at the time, I might have done it. It's pretty liberating to say goodbye.
Whats amusing about the "Blasphemy Challenge" people, is how they assume that because they invoke God's name, and demand for Him to act, that He will act WHEN and HOW they want God to act.
It's sort of indicative of one of the reasons they hate God to begin with...
One problem these people face, is that the god they are demanding action from is not the God of scripture. The God of scripture is absolutely sovereign.
This is why I try not to dignify them with a comment or reply.
George Grant KNOWS there is a god. Without any evidence he believes in a god because in his view it is dangerous if you don't. In fact he is able to diagnose the psychosis suffered by ALL atheists as a form of schizophrenia. The fact he lacks any qualification in mental health is no barrier to an accurate diagnosis which is presumably provided by the voices in his head. The same voices that tell him there is a god.
The point of the "blaspheny challenge" is that we don't believe we're putting ourselfs at any risk by rejecting religion. It's amazing how christians can just make up whatever non sense point of view and cling to it beause they "want" to believe it. On the ohter hand, I suppose it takes someone like that to even believe the bibile in the first place.
Atheists who take this challenge are simply finding a voice, if you sense anger it is against organized religion which has told them they are wrong for many years. The message of Christ is not blind obedience but the journey. The atheists in the challenge in a sense have died, passed through hell, and are now reborn as new beings. They have in a sense lived the very life of an original Christian. It is only the system of religion and belief in the supernatural and magic that we see as wrong.
Time will continue to kill all the gods. History is littered with the corpses of dead gods. I wish the currrent ones were dead already, then we wouldn't have to waste time on this crap!
I get the distinct sense from George Grant that what he's really saying to us is "I have never spoken to an atheist but I know exactly what they're thinking". The most inconsistent notion of all. It's a kind of stupidity.
@Gershie I've met George, he's Christian (obviously) but respects all opinions. He's very humble, and would not make a statement without thinking it through, and knowing the other side of the argument intimately. Still, you could question his logic, but his motive is good.
Another totally ridiculous Christian statement paraded as a truism.
"Atheist do not believe in God, but they do hate him"
There is a certain smugness with that particular line.
What rational people dislike, (not hate), are religious hypocrites trying desperately to defend their irrational beliefs by projecting non-existing emotions on others
This is trying to Push his own belief and emotions onto the Blasphemy Challenge. It's not at all what it means. its to show the highly religious that we don't hold the same fear as they do. That we are free and unafraid. It took a long time to get over my indoctrination. So it is very liberating to feel that you are not longer afraid and can say it aloud with full convection and confidence. I deny the Existence and power of the holy spirit. and i am no longer afraid. Peace to all.
@jcr4runner Personally I do not hate god. I hate anything that causes blind hatred and bigotry but in this case it's the belief of god. God, as far as my experience tells me, simply does not exist. Not one of the people whose path I have crossed has shown me any proof of gods existence. By proof I refer to verifiable and not anecodtal.
That was the point, lifelearn. Atheists are schizophrenic, on the one hand they deny that God exists, and on the other they show great antipathy for Him.
I don't believe in God. I don't "hate him", because "he" does not exist, just like I don't hate the Easter Bunny. I don't hate religious people either -- not because they don't exist, but because it's really not their fault.
What I hate is the Institution of Religion; the people in power who perpetuate the system of oppression/repression. That is worthy of Hate in my books.
Characterizing a whole group of people as crazy, by the way, is what Christians hate the most.. Can you say Irony?
For a SATANIST to say,I deny the existence of GOD,makes perfect sense, but for an ATHEIST to say that, is just absurd, for how can someone deny something that to them does not exist. There is clearly no challenge, there has to be an understanding that something has to exist in order to DENY it.
Calvinists believe the Bible teaches that all men innately know God exists. Romans 1:18. Greg Bahnsen said "unbelievers are believers."
This axiom is why guys like George Grant make their assertions.
Likewise, an Atheist could assert that a Christian knows deep down that God does not exist but wants it to be true so bad that he deceives himself. THis is why Christians have to read the Bible and go to church all the time so they can chase away doubt which is the natural state of the mind.
An atheist could return the charge of self-deception, but that just means we need to talk about what the evidence for and against self-deception is, and see who gives evidence of being self-deceived.
Acually, i was with the guy in the video for the first 20 seconds, and then i started to get suspicious with where he was going untill 30, and then it stopped. This may come as a shock to americans who "have faith in faith" and sees it as the most natural thing in the world, but to most northern and western europeans, perticular scandinaves like myself, being proud of believing something strongly whitout any verifiable evidence is commonly considered wildly ignorant and makes people sceptic of u
The Hatred is really not the Atheist own, but it is from the demons that control them. 18Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
The Sinner is blinded by Pride and demonic spirits as to what they actually do. The reason why they don't have knowledge of wrong doing, or feeling of wrong is because they are dead already spiritually. They are cut off from the truth.
wow, i cant believe in todays society there r ppl who still believe this crap. i am a hardcore atheist, and there r no "demons" in me. religion is not what gives you a sense of right or wrong, the atheist are the lowest population in jail, and countries with the highest rate of atheism are the most chartable and smartest countries. i have never been in any serious trouble in my life, what u r saying makes no sense. U are delusional to think any of that stuff is real. there is no evidence at all
Being an a-theist does not mean you don't know how to act moral according to society consensus, or that you are incapable of ethics. It neither means you can not experience what you refer to as spirituality (i figure a sense of awe and greatness bigger than yourself). If you ask a theoretical physicist what he feels when he contemplates the universe, or a biologist when he studies the greatness of life, i think you will find simelar feelings to what religious call spiritual.
It sounds like Grant is saying, "Contextually they say they hate God." He does not seem to imply that those words were used. My teenage daughter rolls her eyes when I tell her she can't go out with a certain boy. She says a lot without speaking.
Those who Blaspheme God are hating God. To say God doesn't exist you don't think that is hate. What if someone cursed when they used your name, and then said you don't exist. What if helped someone, and then they took you for granted said they did it all themselves. Well we owe God our very exsistance, however, these who mock are deceived to believe, God wont care about what I say.
one day soon humanity is going to grow out of it's childish fairytales and realize that all we have in this world is our lives our planet and each other, that's it.
Let me preface. I am an atheist. I admire your enthusiastic optimism, but if one looks back to the dawn of man, we find we are STILL worshiping some variety of deity. Now thats a long time!
I'd like to think we are more intellegent than our cavemen bretheren, yet humankind STILL desires to ignore reality.
it actually Does since "BigFoot" was originally a fictional Character...fictional characters only live through people talking about them...it keeps him "alive." However God is in fact Real, separate from a fictional character. Listen to what George said again.
he used to preach at my church (CCC), now he's at Perish Presbyterian. Half of our church followed him. i think he preaches what people want to hear, our church preaches that we need Jesus, and preach a lot about grace.
saiththelordministry--- I have a question for you. While at work, your supervisor comes to you and asked you not to go into room 5-b. He explains to you the reason and the importants of not going in there and adds, harm will come to your fellow employees if you do. Do you go into the room? taking a chance that your supervisor is wrong?
Sound familar? Adam with his god givin wisdom, went into room 5-b anyway. :)
In this video, he explains it much better. And I thank you for posting this second part of the 'blasphemy challenge.'
Militant atheists actually need theism in order to be atheists to begin with.
They're not going to get rid of Jesus. That is the reason I think that some non-religious don't have the hatreds against Christian belief that Dawkins and crew have.
There is a schizophrenia invovled.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways(James). Me, I have more questions than answers.
You're point is functionally illiterate. You act like if every Bible was destroyed on earth that no one could ever posit the existence of a higher power.
It's actually more an attack on the followers of Christianity... to ridicule them.
More's the pity, because many great institutions of today would not even exist without the efforts of Christians of the centuries... ministries to the poor, hospitals, and a majority of the world's top Universities would not exist were it not for Christians building them. The field of science was DOMINATED by Christians who were lead to discover the workings of the world around them BECAUSE of their faith.
What Dr. Grant is expounding on is the fact that those who post videos that openly challenge God - and those who follow him - hate the very idea of God, whether it's their business that people believe in him or not... so much so that they will openly blaspheme Him (that's how we as Christians see cursing God and testing his existence by saying "If you exist, hit me with your best shot!") and of course, that gets a reaction from Christians... but if they don't hate Him, why bother blaspheming?
I don't hate Santa, I don't hate Vishnu, and I particularly don't hate the Buddha. I deny them as readily as I deny the Christian God, and for the same reasons.
It's not that we don't believe in god 'and' we hate him. It's we don't believe in god, but if we're wrong and your god exists, there is no logical reason to praise it and thousands of reasons to hate it and what it inspires in its followers.
This guy CLEARLY does not get it. We do not believe in YOUR god or any theistic god, many of us do actually believe in or at least think a deistic god plasuable however. But what we're saying is that if the tyrant in the bible and quran were real..yeah we'd hate him, just like we hate Hitler.
We're dooing this stuff as a catharsis to releive our minds of religious indoctrination fears, and to tell the mostly theistic/religious/abrahamic world that has imposed on us...WE'RE SICK OF IT!
we dont hate god we hate that he popular without a shred of evidence or logic or even a strive to a better humanity no he just wants people too belive in him it dosnt matter if they were good people judges arnt biased gad is!!!
No, proving the negative is always very difficult, if not impossible. Can you prove that there is no invisible and immaterial ethereal dragon that lives in my house does not exist? No. so, according to your logic, there IS a dragon in my house?
@jcr4runner - You need evidence to support any belief. Only children can get away with saying that they believe in Father Christmas or the tooth fairy without any evidence.
The fact that you are unable to conceive a life without god might just mean you are not looking hard enough or don't want to see.
in current times, most believe if you question it, you are unscientific.
But thats not true, when i really look at there evidence, i get insulted, i am not ignorant. I studied past and current science and from a open minded knowledge the the evidence is insulting, as if i just believe in the evidence blindly.
Earth might be one of the very few places in the universe where the conditions are suitable for live (this idea always gives me a big respect for our planet) and I would therefore never call it 'just another planet'.
And yes: I believe that there might be (intelligent) live on other planets too. We can't be sure. This does not mean that I need to believe in some sort of god figure who created earth and the universe for whatever reason.
B. It is also misinformed. Evolution theory doesn't explain how first live on earth (single cell organisms) came into existence. It does only explain how these organisms developed itself to higher forms of live and kept on developing.
No I invite it. In fact, the day that a scientist can produce life from inorganic materials, I will drastically revise my understanding of the creation account.
A. Your statement contains very bad logic: If I can't see live elsewhere in the universe (although our telescopes are not that good that we can see light-years away) then evolution theory is wrong. And if evolution theory is wrong this does means my religious claim must be true (and live started by creating Adam and Eve, who have eaten an apple etc).
Think of it as a null hypothesis. If beings evolved on other worlds who had no concept of a God or gods or who universally thought of tis as superstition, then it this is what we would expect if there is no God.
Not finding them would o prove there is a God, but it is another null hypothesis. If there is a God we would expect to find nothing but what is described in the Bible.
First of all: I love earth. Our little blue planet is very special. Not only is it beautiful it is also great in sustaining life and let it develop, even more intelligent life like human beings.
It must take a lot of faith to hold the view that you know there can't be a God. Not in any place int he universe in any time or place. No God -- no basis for religion anytime or anywhere.
Yep that is what I believe. I can see that clear now.
But anyhow: you are trying to convice me now by bringing up some super alien somewhere in the universe now? Did this alien also create earth and gave you 10 rules to live by and had a son called Jesus?
Hey, I'll gladly believe so. Just give me some REAL evidence.
Its always the same listening to these deluded apologists. They talk and talk and say nothing of substance. This guy might as well be warning against offending Batman.
Also, It really is a shame I think, that knowledge of serious theology is so very lost to this generation. Often times, what people are so angry about has nothing at all to do with genuine historical Christianity.
Take Richard Dawkins for instance. His latest book betrays his absolute unfamiliarity with classical theology, especially in his "God must be complex" objection. Perhaps if opponents better understood Christian claims they would be less hostile.
Without giving this so much consideration, I disagree with this conclusion. I really do think that most people taking the blasphemy challenge, really don't believe in God, at least consciously.
Some of their anger may be directed at their idea of God, but I'd guess that most of it is aimed at Christians and other religious people, sometimes unreasonably, sometimes not without reason. If this is correct, then you'd have to modify that last claim to "I don't believe in God, and I hate YOU."
What an absurd conclusion. While I do not think the BC is a wonderful thing, the point, which you've missed entirley. Is it is a way of liberating oneself and others, to not be afraid of threats of damnation by Christians.
Your reply notes that truth is not subjective, and that is correct, but you don't take into consideration that truth is transcendent. Just because someone believes something, doesn't make it true, but NOT believing in God doesn't free us from the truth that God exists.
This is exposed in the obsession with the atheist who says, "I don't believe in God," and yet spends all his days fighting against God.
Just as logical as a creator in the sky, an all knowing superbeing that is obsessed with our (sex) lives and will be judging us after we die and let's us or into this place called heaven or sends us to hell to spend the rest of eternity burning with a fallen angel. Uhm...yes that makes sense, sounds like a very valid claim to 'the truth'. I can now see how wrong I am...NOT!
You argue that atheists consider this "blasphemy" dangerous? The whole point of the video is to inform the unthink that it is not!
I do not believe in God, so obviously, as you pointed out, I cannot hate him. I hate the irrational people who refuse to think for themselves. The people who will accept any useless answer and kill for it!
The 'Blasphemy Challenge' is to Show others (mainly young people) that the doubts they feel are not only felt by themselves. And that we are not afraid to voice truth.
If your trying to reach atheist, you wont do to well by resorting to these childish tactics.
The Christian consensus of our society wants to allow people such free speech. We don't find that same freedom in atheistic societies where Christians are persecuted and jailed. That's what is disturbing about the Blasphemy Challenge.
Christians are allowed their religion in China (no doubt you are referring to this country).
Maybe your little 'Us vs Them' cult that seeks to undermine the nations politics is not allowed. But hey, maybe you should show a little respect for the host country.
Hey, look around your house and see how many things you have that are made in China.
This is the pot calling the keetle black ... George Grant, one of the representatives of Chirstian Reconstructionism/Dominionism, a disciple of Rushdoony, an advocate of Christian draconianism, and, ultimately, someone who suffers under the relusion that the metaphysical claims of theism are true, calling atheists 'schizophrenic' ... without even a hint of irony ...
Interesting. You know, the real reason for the "Blasphemy Challenge" videos has nothing to do with "I hate God." It's mostly in just a hostile statement to the oppression, corruption, stupidity, fasicism, fanaticism and steriotypical conduct of Christainity and religion in general. It's something that should be taken as a massage and the massage is the religion needs to clean up its act or it will self-destruct. That's the massage right there.
Here's a thought to think on, if I confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and I believe in Him for my salvation... and I die, and heaven is a real place, that's a win for me, right? Eternal life. Now, let's say that when I die, believing that Jesus is the Savior of the world, and there is no life after death... have I lost anything? Think about it. God bless!
Once again, you are simply parroting what you have been told is true from your leaders and using childish tactics. Try listening to atheist. You may not agree with their conclusions, but you may as well know what THEIR reasons for rejecting theistic views of the life. Once you do that you may actually reach more and learn something in the process.
It seems that every time a christian/religious video is made refuting some atheist video/position, all the comments have to be pre-approved. The excuse is always decency but that is a horrible cop-out (not saying you), I obviously made test comment (which wasn't approved) to see if this video censors too, I was right. No worries, you have no obligation to me, it just exhibits weakness from my perspective, but then again, I may be full of it.
Many times, the original video poster is out for several hours/days/weeks. In such a case, all dialog is stopped until arbitrary approval. Porn sites, spam, vulgarity and personal attacks can all be easily removed, blather and blasphemy are debatable but my only point is, atheist youtube channels let the free market of ideas reign, religious channels adopt a dictatorial position which tightly controls what is ultimately heard.
That's what our culture is becoming -- a "free society" where porn, spam, vulgarity, personal attacks, blather and blasphemy rule the day like many petty dictators.
I have a higher responsibility before God for what I allow to be posted. Self-government is not dictatorship. Quite the opposite. Self-control leads to the ultimate freedom.
Petty dictators have nothing to do with "free societies". SELF government and SELF control have nothing to do with controlling what is heard from OTHER people.
Do you fail to see the logic of this argument. It may not be stated in the best way - however, the fundamental notion regarding intentional blaspheme is totally sound. I think you might want to take your own advice.
I understand as a Christian that these people are either:
1. Blaspheming a God that they know deep down exists.
2. Or they are just trying to insult and anger Christians
Of course, if I put up a video denying the holocaust or denying the rights of blacks to vote, it would be taken down by YouTube as the "hate speech" that it is. But the Christian belief is fair game.
I imagine most atheists would not be cursing God if they did not know it to be perfectly safe. It's not intended as a demonstration as bravery so much as testing a bogus principle. Understand that to them, what they do is no worse than putting the electron cloud model of atoms to the test.
And no, arguing against an idea is not tantamount to racism...
A better example of schizophrenia is claiming that god has spoken to me. I do not believe in a god and therefore do not hate god. I can not hate that which does not exist. It is like saying that I hate Robin Hood or Santa Clause. Blaspheming isn't intended to shock god, for he/she does not exist, it is intended to show the "believers" that we don't buy in to their trite and tired philosophy. In the past we would have been put to death. It's nice to know that you no longer have that much power.
If you begin with the premise that human beings are inherently sinful, then the fact that we naturally blaspheme God without thinking, i.e. automatically blame God when things go wrong, would prove the existence of God since our sinful nature would be fighting Him naturally.
I think the schizophrenic comment at the end was a little much but I do agree that the people posting videos denying the Holy Spirit give credit to the Bible by challenging it.
You're too biased to know what you're talking about, we are blaspheming nothing because there is no God (or at least not the Christian one).
Deep down we're saying "Back off. We've been oppressed for too long by you. We're trying to end the pain and suffering religion has caused and you'd better not get in our way"
In communist times, people were jailed or killed for being Christians, the state policy was stated as atheism; there was a Museum of Atheism in Red Square.
The examples you gave of Christians commmitting atrocities is noted. But in judging these people, you are ironically standing for the Law of God. The Bible agrees with you!
So even the atheist has to borrow from the bank of God's capital in order to impugn Christians on moral grounds.
It is not schizophrenic to differ from a belief system as well as hate it. Your straw man is that the Blasphemy Challenge atheists hate God as a concept, not as an entity, and if you can't discern that on your own, it explains why you're incapable of making your point. At some points you said those atheists were playing with fire, and I think you should becareful to avoid the slippery slope of taking away our freedom of speech.
Who are YOU to say what my beliefs are? I completely agree with oscillator. This is how we openly challenge the previously unchallengeable. Nobody dared to speak up for fear of the depths of hell. Well if burning in hell means leading a good life so be it. If going to heaven means lying to myself and hurting others then forget it.
He's absolutely right...Except for the part about "There is a God, that he HE is sovereign, that he is judge all of THE EARTH". Who exactly is supposed to be Schizo?
Hi, I am a Hindu. Why should I accept the Christian belief system when there has not been a modern 'miracle' on par with what is claimed in the Bible?
This is a strawman argument. For atheists, denying the "holy spirit" is as inconsequential as denying leprechauns. The Blasphemy Challenge isn't about "playing with fire" and taking the risk of denying god, but a means for people to openly challenge a widely held belief.
I am the producer of THE REAL JESUS -- which you may also see on YouTube. More of George's interview will be in the final DVD version of this presentation.
I'll approve all counter comments that don't include profanity, blasphemy, ad hominem attacks, etc. Make your comment intelligent please!
Hey George...you have some interesting points. Most of my family members are militant atheist members and THEY often want to bring up God's lack of existence, rather than just leaving the topic alone. Some people consider my stuff blasphemy, because I just strong street language to attract the "sick". Just as a person would speak Mandarin in Northern China to be understood.---seanallenmccoy

Elric54 1 year ago

@jcr4runner Personally I do not hate god. I hate anything that causes blind hatred and bigotry but in this case it's the belief of god. God, as far as my experience tells me, simply does not exist. That was the point, lifelearn. Atheists are schizophrenic, on the one hand they deny that God exists, and on the other they show great antipathy for Him.
Ousias1 2 years ago
I don't believe in God. I don't "hate him", because "he" does not exist, just like I don't hate the Easter Bunny. I don't hate religious people either -- not because they don't exist, but because it's really not their fault.
What I hate is the Institution of Religion; the people in power who perpetuate the system of oppression/repression. That is worthy of Hate in my books.
Characterizing a whole group of people as crazy, by the way, is what Christians hate the most.. Can you say Irony?
Mookawonga4kGGakka 2 years ago

The field of science was DOMINATED by Christians who were lead to discover the workings of the world around them BECAUSE of their faith.
mrspogadaeus 2 years ago

Earth might be one of the very few places in the universe where the conditions are suitable for live (this idea always gives me a big respect for our planet) and I would therefore never call it 'just another planet'.
And yes: I believe that there might be (intelligent) live on other planets too. We can't be sure. This does not mean that I need to believe in some sort of god figure who created earth and the universe for whatever reason.
Dennismikkelsen 3 years ago
B. It is also misinformed. Evolution theory doesn't explain how first live on earth (single cell organisms) came into existence. It does only explain how these organisms developed itself to higher forms of live and kept on developing.

Dennismik 3 years ago
What did they find in meteorites?
cjla1987 3 years ago
However: I can't agree with your statement above.
Dennismikkelsen 3 years ago
Think of it as a null hypothesis. If beings evolved on other worlds who had no concept of a God or gods or who universally thought of tis as superstition, then it this is what we would expect if there is no God.
Not finding them would o prove there is a God, but it is another null hypothesis. If there is a God we would expect to find nothing but what is described in the Bible.
jcr4runner 3 years ago
First of all: I love earth. Our little blue planet is very special. Not only is it beautiful it is also great in sustaining life and let it develop, even more intelligent life like human beings.
Dennismikkelsen 3 years ago
No: I just don't believe in the idea that there is something like a superbeing. I strongly believe that ALL religions are man made.
Dennismikkelsen 3 years ago
It must take a lot of faith to hold the view that you know there can't be a God. Not in any place int he universe in any time or place. No God -- no basis for religion anytime or anywhere.
That's blind faith!
jcr4runner 3 years ago
Yep that is what I believe. I can see that clear now.
But anyhow: you are trying to convice me now by bringing up some super alien somewhere in the universe now? Did this alien also create earth and gave you 10 rules to live by and had a son called Jesus?
Hey, I'll gladly believe so. Just give me some REAL evidence.
Dennismikkelsen 3 years ago
I'll tell you what. If evolution is true, then there should be life everywhere int he universe.
Where is it?
If there is not life everywhere then the alternative is that the earth is a special phenomenon and that points to a Creator.

LoVerT2 3 years ago
Without giving this so much consideration, I disagree with this conclusion. I really do think that most people taking the blasphemy challenge, really don't believe in God, at least consciously.
Some of their anger may be directed at their idea of God, but I'd guess that most of it is aimed at Christians and other religious people, sometimes unreasonably, sometimes not without reason. If this is correct, then you'd have to modify that last claim to "I don't believe in God, and I hate YOU."
LoVerT2 3 years ago

Dennis,
Your reply notes that truth is not subjective, and that is correct, but you don't take into consideration that truth is transcendent. Just because someone believes something, doesn't make it true, but NOT believing in God doesn't free us from the truth that God exists.
This is exposed in the obsession with the atheist who says, "I don't believe in God," and yet spends all his days fighting against God.
jcr4runner 3 years ago
For you that sounds logical, right?
Just as logical as a creator in the sky, an all knowing superbeing that is obsessed with our (sex) lives and will be judging us after we die and let's us or into this place called heaven or sends us to hell to spend the rest of eternity burning with a fallen angel. Interesting. You know, the real reason for the "Blasphemy Challenge" videos has nothing to do with "I hate God." Many times, the original video poster is out for several hours/days/weeks.
DickJohnson3434 4 years ago
That's what I would expect.

The examples you gave of Christians commmitting atrocities is noted. But in judging these people, you are ironically standing for the Law of God. The Bible agrees with you!
So even the atheist has to borrow from the bank of God's capital in order to impugn Christians on moral grounds.

Oppression pain and suffering all at the hands of religion. Are this your reasons or proof for the nonexistence of God?

How is that schizophrenia? Your misuse of the word makes me upset. That's all I have to say.

He's absolutely right...Except for the part about "There is a God, that he HE is sovereign, that he is judge all of THE EARTH". Who exactly is supposed to be Schizo?

Hi, I am a Hindu. Why should I accept the Christian belief system when there has not been a modern 'miracle' on par with what is claimed in the Bible?
amplifierrru 4 years ago 2
What modern miracle would you be asking about?

it's not about "playing with fire", atheist takes the Blasphemy Challenge not to mock god, we just mock the people that believe.

This is a strawman argument. For atheists, denying the "holy spirit" is as inconsequential as denying leprechauns. The Blasphemy Challenge isn't about "playing with fire" and taking the risk of denying god, but a means for people to openly challenge a widely held belief.

"I do not believe in God, and I hate him" : It would indeed be an inconsistent psychological notion, if only it were remotely true.
Almost as schizophrenic would be the statement "I have no rational answer for Atheist, so I merely pretend they are closet Theists."
