  • Da funkt for president.

  • AWSOME MAJOR PROPS

  • Its actually very easy how they come up with the ideas and samples that they use. Firstly they take a section of music that they think they may get useful samples from, say a 16 section. They then run that through "Recycle", which is a program that splits music into segments as fina you want them. You can then load a REX file into your music sequencerto play back the segments. Here's where they get creative. You can play each segment on your keyboard. All Daft Punk do is mess around playing segm

  • @les1466

ents until they find stuff that they think sounds good. Try this for yourself, its quite easy. Also try running drum patterns through the segments, you'll be quite shocked at results that can be achieved.

    :)

  • Only Daft Punk Has the genius, talent, & passion to pull of a sample like this.

  • I KNEW it was Billy Joel!!!!

    I KNEW IT!!!

  • Daft Punk is just too genius.

  • do better bob, do better bob, do better bob, do better bob

  • wow!

  • Wow!

  • You don't know how they thought up the sample? That's a stupid question. THEY'RE FUCKING ROBOTS THEY CAN DO ANYTHING

  • The Part when he says "The New Vega Bond", The samples are pitched up.

  • i think that too! a mistake gone incredibly good!! we have a good example in aufio two - top billin (a mistake with the drum pattern gone good!)

  • Oh and btw, Daft Punk made the WHOLE SAMPLING on purpose, even the parts where the vocals sound cut off. I've almost finished the first loop, so you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • I am sorry 4 bursting ur bubble, but that's not the real sample...

  • @Mike4evermetal2 yes it is -.-

  • @TheSweXD

Sorry, I expressed myself wrong , I was trying to say that the sampling was awful xD. Mike4ever was my account btw.

  • @Mike4evermetal2 yes it is dumbass

  • its not easy to make is it?

  • I think that's so cool :) 3.05 - 3.19

  • Interesting. Needs more engineering to convince me.

  • Unbelievable, man, YOU are GREAT! 8)

  • interesting

  • I like your sample of Billy Joel better than Daft Punk's because it is using the raw samples. Daft Punk filtered it heaps probably so the sample would be unrecognizable if Billy Joel heard it himself.

  • This remake sounds more like exploiting, not sampling!

  • due to the overwhelming response from this, I have put up the song files I have used to make this. Note this is for mac only but the audio snippets were also provided. Sorry to all those I did not get back to on the messages, there are simply to many to reply back to.

  • 2:36, Will BrianSRedd and Jaggass think this is true? NO WAY!!

  • Eh completely a coincidence. The lyrics in High Fidelity are "New Vaga...bond" in the 2nd loop, and the 3rd loop is "Come to...be fre..e"

  • And one last thing, what came first: Billy Joel's 'Just the way you are' or Daft Punk's 'High Fidelity'?

  • lol, funny

  • I say SoNiCxBlaCK, your work is the closest thing yet to the 'High Fidelity' concept, just like turning lead into gold!

  • High Fidelity's samples is not credited in the CD leaflet, and IF it REALLY was Billy Joel's 'Just The Way You Are', then he may say that his song is exploited, and that, he could put Daft Punk through a legal battle!

  • wow nice i always wondered how they did this, amazing!

  • Also, I'm not sure whether 'High Fidelity' is inspiration or what. Perhaps it samples another obscure song.

  • I think I'd call that song 'Bill Fidelity'! >:(

  • i think the 'ou bettah' bit is good, i think its the 'Vah' of 'nevah' lol great work anyhoo

  • In the real version, the voice saying 'ooh bettah vuh' sounds female-ish. Maybe it did sample another obscure song.

  • ow bad not ver

  • He says he didn't change the pitch thats what will have caused it to sound like a female singer

  • No capital letters, tut tut.

  • I don't think you nailed it, but... that "ooh betteeerrr" sample actually sounds pretty cool.

  • daft punk!!!!

  • hey sonic, which part of the song does the drum beat start

  • man u should get into ableton. it allows you do much more to the samples much more easily bud. just up'd a video of my ableton remake of harder better faster stronger, using the edwin birsong track cola bottle baby if you wanna check that out its on my page now.

  • wow u cracked it, well done. U shud do another vid with it like pitched up and that so we can hear it all closer to the real 1

  • In fact, the first sample sounds like "ip....apkae" in the recording to me.

  • Great job! and thanks for the posting. If you work some pauses out, it'll be even closer. You've made great progress so far. Tweak the beginning especially.

  • i still dont understand how daft punk made this song! seems really complicated! and this is my favourite song, i love high fidelity <3

  • daft punk are DJS and this is their job: remake some songs doing great songs just like that or crescendolls

  • yeah i dont like when people says they stole music, theyve just taken samples from songs and they made new and GREAT songs

  • when u made harder better faster stronger u forgot to pitch it up

  • That sounds awful without being pichted! lol

I already knew the sample, but mad props to you, you did an awesome job! ;)

  • does sound good

  • Thanks, took forever to figure out.

  • BUT, this remake could set the dogs barking or even wake the dead!
