  • Too bad players like McGuire and Bonds polluted the game.

  • Everytime I listen to this it reminds me of The Wonder Years Independence Day. It brings a tear to my eye.

  • @JamesiMaci Me too.

  • I remember as a kid watching the Yanks on TV and saw Roger Maris hit #61. This song should have been around when he did it.

  • Goose bumps evertime I hear the music

  • @burnedelitefish

Yeah, the last episode. A wonderful piece of music.

  • The Wonder Years anyone?

  • @burnedelitefish hell yeah, great ending to a great show also.

  • Is it spring yet?

  • i just realized that this song is played by most of the sport movies

  • Does anyone know how I can find the picture at 0:42 on Google Images?

  • @zachesherman Google Ty Cobb. It's a pretty famous image.

  • @zachesherman Take a screenshot of it, then drag the image to the Google Images search bar. It'll try to find a match.

  • This certainly ranks among Hoosiers, Rudy, Chariots of Fire, and Rocky as one the best sports scores of all time... lovely piece.

  • @jg2904 I got syphilis from your long ago

  • @UglyoldFranny My what?

  • My favorite movie regardless of the category. Thank You for the retrospective,

especially the inclusion of the greatest baseball player I have ever seen, Roberto Clemente.

  • Im 32 and my sports life started with in my mine the greatest sport of them all. BASEBALL!! Nothing will beat those days of going to the ballpark with the old man. Both bring our gloves on a nice summer day or night. Getting a couple of hot dogs and pop to watch the home team play. Thanks Baseball for my first memories, and my best. Great video Nocaro!!!!

  • I was 10 years old when I saw this in the theatre back in '84. Baseball was everything to me back then. That summer my dad took me on my first trip to the Hall Of Fame, my Mets were just starting to get good, just 2 years away from winning the Series....all that mattered was the game and playing catch with my dad. I would give anything to be able to play catch with dad just one more time...God I miss those days.

  • The GRANDEST of all games. PERIOD.

  • The days when Baseball was a game. People saw it as the pinnacle of sports and American Pride. It's pitiful that baseball now has the worth merit of that equal to foul and corrupt politicians. baseball is no long an honest game. It is falling on its face. Now Cooperstown may be looking at a bunch of categorical all time leaders of whom are not worthy of making the Hall of Fame for cheating or other ebbed matters. The real Naturals are those of whom got it done naturally!

  • I love the photo of the "Babe" with "Shoeless" Joe. God rest ye gentlemen!

  • Great collection of photos!

  • Nice trumpet solo.....

  • Was used by Billy Joel for a couple of tours as the final piece of music before he came on stage. Great piece of music, never knew what it was.

  • baseball will forever be the greatest game... nothing compares to the suspense of a 1-0 pitchers duel - or the majesty of a walk off homerun to win a game.. no other sport - not football, or basketball can equal the same feeling that the warm summer sun, green grass, and the crack of a bat can give you..... sure, there is an ugly business side to it - as is with everything else in daily life... but for 9 innings, you feel like a kid again, watching legends..

  • @DJX187 Absolutely, except that pitcher's duels stink unless there's a no hitter or perfect game going on. Give me some scoring!

  • @dummybummyful For my tastes a 1-0 game can be as great as a 12-10 game, IF the pitchers are throwing strikes and working quickly. If they are figuring out their income tax between pitches that can be boring.

  • @krezzykrezz That's the worst! The game is over in no time at all!

  • @DJX187 - I love a great pitcher's duel. They always involve some great defense, too, and that's one of my favorite parts of the game. Every part it wonderful though :))

  • Great Photo's to go along with the music, Great Job

  • I miss Tiger Stadium!!!! A Piece of History THAT ALWAYS WAS! The Natural came out the year the Tigers won their last title, Winning an unprecedented 35 of their first 40 games that year as well!!! Those and times before exemplified in this video are the true moments of baseball for when it was a game. Babe Ruth got it done with hot dogs and beer!!! Steroids and HGH - these Hall Of Famers should have no respect for them.

  • A true classic film.

  • Thanks - this has to be one of my top movies ever!

  • 2 stadium light towers did not like this video.

  • I can't imagine life without Baseball!

  • Considering all the scores he wrote that did not win-Ragtime,The Natural,James and the Giant Peach, the Toy Story movies,Awakenings,Princess and the Frog, I can go on and on- maybe we should all write in and get him a Lifetime Achievement Award next Oscars

  • @ignatzratsky Agreed

  • This is my favorite movie of all time

  • some people don't even have the natural on their top ten sport's movies list...I would be put it at number one.

  • @issurchaim EXACTLY!!! :)

  • GOD how I love baseball...

  • Go Rangers!!!

  • Very nice. Makes me want to go back in time to little league and do it all over again.

  • This song remembers me Wonderyears

  • Randy Newman is an incredible musician. His versitility is amazing. Super serious to super wacky...and everythging in-between.

  • That shot of Cobb is timeless. There will never be another human being that plays baseball even close to that.

  • I LOVE THIS I CAN LISTEN TO IT ALL DAY LONG AND I MEAN ALL DAY LONG

  • One of the great movie scores of all time. Amazing that Newman didn't win the Oscar (that went to Maurice Jarre's score for Passage to India). As good as Jarre is, people always remember Newman's iconic theme.

  • I love this!!! I love baseball and it's heroes!!!!

  • love the natural. nice post. great pictures.

  • 2:38 Lord of the Rings!

  • I first discover Randy's music in Star Bucks in San Fran. The sond was Big Hat No Cattle and I will be dammed he has written so meny songs in so many movie that has touched our lives and made us feel

  • Indeed, a very Coplandesque piece of music.

  • @eyalgot Also known as "nationalist", particularly the american style. very popular 20th century school of composition.

  • "The Natural" is one of my all-time favourite films. I watched it again last night - as great as ever.

Without wishing to sound pretentious, it's Arthurian legend set in white-picket fence America.

Randy Newman's music is outstanding, pure genius.

If the hair doesn't rise on the back of your neck when Robert Redford slams the ball into the lights right at the end, you're dead!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • @noninflateable

"the natural" is my favorite movie ever, and you are absolutely right about the hair rising on your back when he hits the winning home run. i can remember going to my grandma's when i was a young boy about 15 years ago, i would watch it over and over there, and then she would let me bring it home to watch. i loved this movie so much, that when i was 4 or 5 i remember going to the tree lighting in town and sitting on santa's lap, when he asked me my name i told him "roy hobbs"

  • @god01able When my father left my mother this was one of the only VHS movies he left at home. I wish I had fonder memories, but when this fanfare plays, I can't help but remember when times were better, as we all do. Still, there seems to be some triumph that we all have to find, just like Roy...

  • This track was borrowed for the finale of that great TV show, The Wonder Years. Top drawer music.

  • He did Seabiscuit too!

  • I love how the Texas Rangers use this theme when they hit a home run. Awesome!

  • smittruntings...i second that notion...its especially fitting when josh hamilton hits a dinger there

  • Wonderful !!!

  • Pure gold

  • lol thank you!

  • Where can I donwload this song?

  • Great song! Great composer!

  • His scores is always amazing.

  • He's also the composer famous for disney and pixar animated films such as TOY STORY, A BUG'S LIFE, TOY STORY 2, MONSTERS INC, and CARS.

  • AWESOME

  • Thanks for the input and suggestion.
