What you're describing is what for-profit insurance co's already do. I do the books for a doctor..she has to get authorization from ins co's for every little thing. Medicare (govt program) has fairly clear guidelines on what is covered..fewer hassles..less rationing. If, in an optional government plan, coverage limits were published ( like Medicare) its all good.

That is actually going to save quite a lot of money. We dont know how much yet. The CBO gives it very little credit. I don't have children, yet MY taxes (in the form of the 2% increase in the state sales tax here in MI) pays for educating other people's students. My taxes go to pay for pork barrel projects that Rep/Dem Congressmen send to their home districts. At least everyone can benefit from universal health care.

There will be long waits.Even people that had no insurance now will be better than what they will have when this comes in. Now a person with no insurance can get help. They have things in place it would be cheaper for companies to pay the fine and let their employees get cheaper insurance from the govermnet.

What you're describing is what for-profit insurance co's already do. I do the books for a doctor..she has to get authorization from ins co's for every little thing. Medicare (govt program) has fairly clear guidelines on what is covered..fewer hassles..less rationing. If, in an optional government plan, coverage limits were published ( like Medicare) its all good.

Obama will be easily re-elected. The republicans have no likeable leader figures. In fact, they have neither likeable nor leader figures. All they have is a bunch of lunatics making extreme statements and generally broadcasting their own stupidity. I'm sure there's some sensible republicans somewhere out there, but they get no air time in fox circle jerks or other mainstream misinformation outlets.

most posts I see here oversimplify the issues, and with comments like "FOX NEWS NEEDS TO BE BANNED" I realize that in a heated environment like this even the constitution is forgotten...in my opinion, when a side in a debate or argument wants to revoke the rights built into the FOUNDATION of our country, that side has lost any credibility and doesn't deserve an ear to their thoughts

(cont). CAn Glen comment on this? I always paid my premium and assumed others, who didn't, were just idiots. But my husband, who worked for a restaurant, was charged $450 per month for healthcare. As a worker for a big multi national company, I was charged around $35 per month. What is fair about this? Glen, can you answer ANY of my questions. Can you see why Obama thinks a change is needed? I grew up Republican, but I've not been able to vote for them because of their lack of understanding.

Since I had just moved my family back to the US, I couldn't move again, and until my baby was born, I needed to use US docs for the checkups, but I couldn't get a single doctor to even agree to give me a scan to check for Down's Syndrome. Why? Because as soon as I admitted I did not have insurance and that I would be self pay for the tests, they refused to see me. In case you think this is just a one-off, I have a French friend, in France, denied healthcare as an American serviceman's WIFE!

(cont). I tried to move back to the US 2.5 years ago, and I didn't realize I was pregant. After paying years and years into a medical system that never tracked any of it, I was denied insurance, even though my employer offered it! I had the famous "pre-existing" condition. I was told I would have to have a c-section and that it would cost me $15,000. I figured a flight to Britain was cheaper, and I could have the baby for free. I couldn't even get a doctor to check me. I heard "death panels" were going to work like jury duty. You receive a summons in the mail, you gotta sit on one of these panels, hear the case--takes all day and you only get one paid meal--then, after closing arguments, they lock you in a room until you've reached a verdict. Will you feel like a "Death Czar?" I think not. The real bureaucrats are somewhere on the highest floors eating ostrich egg omelets and there you are, earning twelve dollars a day, contemplating a cold bag of Wendy's.
