  • I have got the itchiest asshole tonight. I'm one step away from dragging my ass on the carpet! Oh yeah and I love Maynard and his many talents.

  • pussy + lucifer = puscifer?

How about pussy + fur = puscifer? Think about it, part of his vineyards are named Merkin Vineyards, and a merkin is a pubic wig.

  • I like this interview, what he say about the art?

  • chupacabra wine ?my goodness.....

  • oh man you don't want to debate Maynard, you will LOSE

  • "So Maynard, you got raped! But with your website it seems you're more laid back, am I reading that right?" "..."

  • Haha, love Maynard. Considering he and Trent Reznor are friends, they certainly have completely opposite opinions on the free music for fans thing and the giving fans free music to entice them to purchase concert tickets. Both amazing artists though.

  • I was always for downloading music: You know, because bands I'd listen to (Rise Agianst, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.) already had a fortune to their name and I didn't feel like paying 20$ for a fucken album! But he has a good point when he says struggling bands rely solely on album sales to try and make it. It's almost noble of Tool and MJK's other bands to try and set that pressident.

  • He is one of Ohio's finest!!!

  • ooooooooooo baddd call with that question near the end

  • @skateNappreciate oh man, they got ripped the fuck into. GO MAYNARD! Show them how it is.

  • yeah well i would be pissed too if some douche bag who clearly has no clue what hes talking about started telling me how to do my job.

  • lol maynard got pissed

  • good interview, VERY bad sound editing.

  • damn he seems like a douche

    .like i said tho seems....

  • puscifers been around since like 92'-93' right?!?!? i swear they have old colabs. with deftones like Kill Yourself..

  • interview was going good till Toucher started talking.... take a hint toucher STFU you suk

  • i wish he was more like nin marketing wise

  • How so

  • @fenixx001

    I agree,i also agree with inlight 21

People should just shut the fuck up and enjoy his music.

  • People need to stop trying to figure Maynard out.

  • thats what ticks him the fuck off...i know cuz on a much smaller level, its wat i go through

  • @fenixx001 Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind

  • I love you Maynard, but you are certainly a markateer these days. And why do you not like your fans? Just an observation. I still love the music!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't think he Hates his fans , He get sick of peolpe trying to make him sell himself instead of the music.

  • im pretty sure he once said in one of his interviews that he considers all his fans artists in their own way if this is not a compliment I don't know what is.

  • I am glad you told me that. I have been to 2 of his concerts, amazing performance. He does not sign autographs and that is why I said that. And also if you meet him in public he does not want to be bothered by any fans. I can kind of understand that.

  • ya well consider that perhaps he doesn't want to be bothered or treated like a god or something, i heard shoots some of his fans with paintballs if they bother him at his house. I've been to one of his performances as well, amazing.. ::) ! and no problem i am a huge maynard fanatic as well i look for anything i can find of him on youtube lol and then i watch them over again.. and again. anything he does and everything he is, i respect. i think his true fans can understand that.

  • @neurochris really? i never heard that but i heard him talk about the respect he gets from fans. That makes you love this guy. He has so much talent, I would love to meet Maynard and chill.

  • wow he realy did know bill hicks!!!! thats cool!!!

  • Where can I find a hat like that?!

  • Comment removed

  • in which year was this recording?

  • Come on Maynard! People are gonna download all of your songs anyway. You might as well control the packaging of these songs and how they are distributed in order to maximize the audience. Bigger audience = more ticket sales = more money in your pocket. Talk to Trent Reznor. He'll tell you all about it. If it didn't work, he wouldn't keep doing it. Stop being so stingy... And pessimistic. This strategy would work great for APC and Puscifer. Not so much Tool. The album art is too great to pass on.

  • Not trying to be contentous but it is available go buy the record and its right there. Trent even says how he hates ipods and the headphones drive him nuts. He would rather buy an album and listen to the whole thing instead of passively downloading singles. I'll paraphrase lester burnham. "Oh well let's all just sell our souls to Satan because it's more convenient"

  • but trent had to tour for about 4 years straight.

  • Thats a very safe statement. That was f-in funny.

  • lawls i like the windows sound, seeing as how im on my macbook

  • I the only one that heard the Windows error sound? I mean...I'm running Ubuntu, and it just don't make that noise. Sooo....

  • yeah that was odd... 2:23. The windows error sound is a very out of place sound to me too. I have a mac so it was very strange and surprising when I heard it.

  • My view on the project is that with V is for Vagina, it's like, "These are the Puscifer songs, and you'll hear them in many different ways." Then with V is for Viagra, D is for Dubby, and the live shows, it's like he's saying, "Here's an example of that thesis." Although I haven't seen Puscifer live yet, I really want to, especially if he comes to the New Jersey area.

  • I 2nd that, well tool will be in the area shortly

  • a new apc cd?? no/yes

  • No new apc cd's :/ maybe another tour

  • No new APC, they broke up.

  • they are going to start up again with billy at lead singer with mostly the same lineup exept maynard(so ive heard) so the music will be the same the lyrics will be different and i doubt billy can sing like maynard

  • that's Ashes Divide, they have an entire album out...sounds like a blend of APC and 30 Seconds To Mars.Actually,Billy harmonizes well with Maynard but his sound is slightly less falsetto, more drawn out lyrics.

  • Like Maynard's sound is falsetto? No no..

  • 10:30...awkward silence haha!

  • The Tuss is finally going on tour! With Puscifer! I'm not selling tickets.

  • =)) nicely put =))) wouldn't have thought of it that way hahaha

  • Okay... how many bottles of wine have to be bottled and how many Puscifer CDs does Maynard have to record before he gets bored enough to make another kick ass "A Perfect Circle" CD? I'm wishfully hoping just maybe that it won't be long....

  • I hope he makes another tool album, but i heard that a perfect circle is over.

  • there writing new songs for A Perfect circle currently. Tool is still alive right now also.

  • i think a perfect circle is gonna have a different singer or something.

  • nope same singers.

  • uh, calm down about APC, compared to Puscifer and Tool, APC is not even worth talking about

  • Tool and A Perfect Circle are both amazing bands. Puscifer is also great but nothing compared to Tool and APC.

  • no more perfect cirlce unfortunately. because of troy van leeuwen and his queens of the stone age bullshit. I use to be a fan of QOTSA, but im about fed up and pissed off. fuck john homme - kyuss was way better anyways!!!

  • i'd love to try some of Maynard's wine. Tool is amazing.

  • @jrquilty Would you sip, slurp, and gargle it?

  • ....::::::Puscifer is the best::::::......

  • wow nice awkward silence ending to the interview..

  • My god. What the hell am i doing here?!?!

  • For all you yokels... it sure sounds cool to say its pussy fur. But its a play on words of pussy and lucifer, ie... Puscifer. Gotta love Maynard.

  • Actually,it's a play on pussy fur too.Merkin Vineyard?A merkin being a pubic wig........city boy.

  • You obviously don't know what good music is then.

  • more people would agree that you suck and not tool

  • Vegas 13 14 15 of Feb. can't wait.

  • ha!..those interviewers are morons. mjk had every right in the world to give them the "silent treatment"

  • Totally agree with MJK though. Playing in a band, recording and making albums takes a LOT of money. People who think everything should be for free are kidding themselves. Bit going into a supermarket and thinking everything should be for free because you pay a lot of money when you go to a restaurant.

  • Right. This world, right or not (NOT!), revolves around money.

  • A wine-making ninja.. HAHAHA!!!

  • much more ballzzzz with a Z lmao

  • What's a Puscifer? Anyone? And for that matter what's a pekkardu? And what kinda name is Dee-white?

  • pussy + lucifer = puscifer

these guys doing the interview are idiots.

  • Actually it's a phonetic name. Puscifer = Pussy fur.

  • its pussy fur.

  • yeah it works that way too. but i saw a post on tools website that explained it as pussy + lucifer. plus when you pronounce it you don't emphasise the i.

but being maynard i wouldn't be surprised if there's like 6 other meanings for it aswell.

  • the end was great

  • these interviewers r morons.

    maynard burned their ass.

    xD

  • "do you see your self putting anything anything for free?" Maynard: *silence*

Dude c'mon, nothing's for free you nitwit!

  • Yea. That DJ is a moron.

  • the new NIN album is free

  • are their concerts and merchandise?

  • ha NO

  • exactly...its a big nothing

  • he's a wine making ninja

  • "Did i sufficiently ignore you?" lmfao.

Go maynard. If i were him, i would have never answered the phone.

  • man i love maynard!!! he told those losers @ the end!! lmao!!!

  • haha get out in the van buddy see how that goes.

  • LMAOO in the ending things got tensed up...haha *silence* alriiiiiight....haha hes awesome!

  • haha maynard:"where is this going"

    interviewer:"uhhh, just talkin about..."

  • maynard is the man

  • woah, he gets soo pissed off right at the end, hahaha. madcunt

  • maynard is jesus.

  • Toucher and Rich suck!!!!!!!

  • Uhhhhhhhhhhh... You're welcome??? lol, maynard's awesome.

  • these assholes are talking to maynard like hes a little kid. "you like that comedian? huh? yea u do!!" or "your a MUCH MORE calmer maynard now!!!" its like wtf, u dont talk like that to anyone, these guys are tools.

  • "If a band like NIN can put out free music and change the industry, he can too."

Holy shit you're stupid. How about you (yes, you) start working for free, dumbass! hahaha!

Have fun not getting paid! Great idea!

  • Last time I checked NIN gets a big paycheck from touring...

  • i agree

  • NIN put The Slip for free, yes, but then turned around and sold it too... Guess what they made a killing bro. So all in all they still sold it, still made money.

  • I don't believe that was his point. He is saying that he doesn't want to set a precedent of producing free music because, although he can afford it, new bands coming out cannot afford to release music for free. If successful bands start putting out albums for free, people will start expecting free music. This will hurt new bands coming out. I hope that makes since.

  • maynard hates those guys, hahaha

  • Secondly, Maynard is a good man to have on this rude planet. Making a difference requires money, and I do not give a rats ass how much powerpaper MJK posses, I rather see

A LOT of money in Maynard's hands, than say.. Rumsfeld, R*o*t*h*s*c*h*i*l*d bastards, or other boogieboys...

  • First of all, it's ridiculous to diss Radiohead for handing out their music for "free", it's their choice! And that choice alone does not shift music industry to any direction. it's beatiful how mp3's are killing the whoring record companies and bands. God there is so much pointless music, or should i say stupidly arranged sound waves which make their listeners even more retarted, violent, rasist than they already are.

  • WTF? Why should artists give away their work for free? Save that for fucking Coldplay... Jeebus Christ, these interviewers are so damn stupid.

  • 3 bands and 1 singer. maynard is a GOD!!!!

  • aaaaaaa i love maynard!!!!!!!!

  • Those guys interveiwing him were fuckin retarded. Im pretty sure maynard was having a hard time holding his tongue most of the interview lol. I wouldnt even talk to those assholes. dumb people suck

  • Gotta love maynard, the shit about TOny Robins! and then at the end, these guys are trying to tell him to give his art away for free, what the fuck do they know. Fucking a Maynard told them to start their own band.

  • wow. they pissed him the fuck off at the end there. Maynard says "jump", most people should say "how high". Here is just said "Sit your ass down". Point taken.

  • uuuuuhh...yer welcome?

  • what a good guy...

  • lmfao @ "wine making ninja"

  • lol

  • i gotta work for WBCN , lived in boston all my life never heard this interview :(

  • facade???? No facade

  • "All you know about me is what I've sold you,

    Dumb fuck.

I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,

    Dip shit,

    And you bought one.

    Buy my new record

    Send more money

    Fuck you, buddy."

  • I LOVE that song, so much it's not funny

  • I love the asshole facade he puts on. the tension is beautiful.

  • Maynard's a little rough around the edges...for good reason. Toucher and Rich, while fans of Mr. Show and all that other stuff that is associated with Maynard, understand that not everyone out there is obsessed with Maynard and searches for him on youtube...they have a program to run and asked a few direct questions, and got a few direct answers....simple as that

  • his attitude is ballz, with a z, awsome

  • "where is this going?" ...genius.

  • I love how Maynard mentions Tom Waits

  • Really good interview, i guess he is more comfortable with Radio than TV, thanks for posting.

  • A wine making ninja. I love it.

  • he wasnt really arrogant. the ? was basically like, so why dont you work your balls off on a piece of art and donate it to the world since you can make a living on high principles and generosity. when the music bizz is declining...come on now. on the flip side, the interviewer had a good point about the comment about judging based on looks rather than focusing on charisma and learning. i think it went over maynards head surprisingly

  • he wasnt really arrogant. the ? was basically like, so why dont you work your balls off on a piece of art and donate it to the world since you can make a living on high principles and generosity. when the music bizz is declining...come on now.

  • these assholes that do interviews always have to ask at least a few stupid questions, like at the end of this interview. Good lord...

  • he's very uncompromising isn't he?

  • lol especially if you've heard an interview before.

  • Although I like his art alot.

Keenan is lame... I love how people are slamming on the DJ's. If Keenan sets up a interview to promote his new material the man could atleast not be a arrogant prick.

  • i honestly doubt he set this up.

Maynard could give a fuck who hears his new material.

  • could? more like doesn't, couldn't wouldn't

  • whatever floats your boat.

  • that would be a silence.. thats the silent treatment.

  • These interviewers....douche-bags

  • Those D.J.'s suck. Howard Stern should interview Maynard.

  • I think howard interviewed him awhile back but they don't get along because maynard promised hima song on sterns movie and maynard backed out of that. Howard trashes the band but maynard thinks howard is a liar cus howards says maynard is in the lobby trying to get on the show, when he's actually in LA.

  • you have money....thats true LOL

  • Do you guys know, where i can such a cool hat, like this one? That looks soooo awesome!

  • Hahah "I'm a wine making ninja"

  • the radio guys a loser, maynard was giving a rare interview and trying to be serious and talk about real things, this radio dj guys being a retard, tru maynard got a lil bitter but he also has a point, if awesome bands like puscifer give ther music away for free how are up and coming bands gona make any money to survive?

  • Thanks for posting the interview...

Funny thing, my brother was mentioning James the other day, & much like me, he enjoys A Perfect Circle & Tool but feels that James is a 'pompous ass' I always thought MJK was misunderstood... but after this interview, I am not so sure.

  • Well maynard does screw him self over there. He has a bunch of money, and would (with his fanbase) not fail in making it all back in donations and live shows. Im a MJK superfan so please dont jump the gun here and proclaim him a God. He wants to make money and for once his wits dont quite carry him through...

  • It's amazing how Maynard has progressed throughout his musical career: from early Opiate anger to Lateralus philosophies, from A Perfect Circle emotions to Puscifer chants...

  • Maynard's just speaking the truth, do you really think any smaller bands would not go broke if the precident was free, choose to pay? of course they would.

  • i think that the free music thing is interesting. i've seen bands on myspace have a tip hat connected to a paypal account where listeners can make any contribution they see fit. the days of the big tour bands are ending. the industry and its soul selling auction slabs has whored and raped rock to it's last fuck. it's time for an alternative. this is one.

  • ur wrong, 'the days of the big tour bands are ending' ...are you kidding me? friggin nostradamus over here

  • haha love how it got all awkward at the end there

  • he got all salty at the end

  • @ Scrotum, yeah the lyrics are very simply on VIFV, but it was meant to be a relief for him from the beginnin i think. He writes pure artistic genius for APC and tool, i think he deserves a break haha.

  • Wow! Fuck these guys, Maynard was being a good sport and they just take advantage of that fact to make a little awkwardness on air. I don't see why so many people think he comes off like a jackass. He doe's plenty of stuff for no money, in fact, there is hardly any money in art as it has always been, so why would artists(unless they are radiohead and tool) do it for free?

  • That's why he was able to buy a vineyard right? with all that lack of money he has? The guy's a total Jerk. I love his music and I won't stop listening to it, but as a person he seems pretty shitty. What an arrogant answer. "yah how about you try touring that way buddy." -- 'I'm not in the music business nor can I play an instrument' -- "Exactly." No wonder he votes democrat.

  • Heaven forbid the guy feels he should get paid for his music/vocation.

  • no wonder he votes democrat?? you are an ass... go preach somewhere else

  • fuck you dude he was standing up for the little bands, simply stating that to start giving your music out for free would set a new precident, and up incoming bands wouldnt have a choice and would have to give there music a way as well, and when the dumbshit insisted on it, maynard told the fucker off and told him to try it and then see how well that goes

  • Oh yah, maynard was saying what he said for "the little people". You're so off in space it's funny. Also, bands make more from touring than they do selling records. My buddy only plays little gigs in the city, but he gets paid 800-1500 per night. That's not bad for singing and playing guitar.

  • dude your fucking retarded you think i dont know you make more money from touring? you make little money as it is on the fucking records and now all you fucking douche bags want em to be given out for free?? why dont we just give everything out for free you little bitch

  • Actually a small artist like Jonathan Coulton manages to get by just fine by putting up free mp3's on his page and getting donations from people who support him, of course he also tours. It's his own choice. I also like the possibility that you can check out the merchandize before paying for it (we're talking about selling one song at a time). Why are so hostile? I think internet does give a lot of new possibilities for directly-from-artist-marketing.. (continues)

  • (continued)..if a lot of people would jump to that bandwagon (pun intended) it would mean a hard time for bigger record companies (they are already losing a lot of sales) and possibilites for independed music publishing. Now I'm not saying your an idiot and getting heated up here. Just putting up this argument and I might be wrong as well.

  • "play little gigs" at 1500 a night? Maybe a cover band, and I even doubt they would make that much. 700 at the most, and not every night. See, it is this idea that it is okay to rip off music because the artist will make up for it because of the live shows. How many artists music have you stolen, then actually went to their show?

  • SickMike is right, all these shit heads are downloading music for free and not giving the artists what they deserve. If it costs 160,000 to make all the CD's and put it in stores, they are lucky if they get 100,000 dollars. Eventually these major artists wont exist because being one will be economically impractical. All there will be are some people who record bad quality shit on their garageband at home and not get money for it..

  • if it costs $30 per CD the artist is lucky to get $1 per CD, the record lables rip them off to an unbelievable extent, which is /why/ people resrt to downloads, this is a new world, the old method sucks, artists are getting ripped off, this way, the labels have less power. Many artists put their mp3's on the net and if they're good, people will still buy the album because the physical thing is always better.

Don't belive the propaganda the RIAA puts out, free music has worked for a while now.

  • I downloaded the album off of google for free in less then 5 min. --- love it.
