on the chapter:highway 17 you can see on some lonely and destroyed gasstation that it says on one of the gasthings:kronor and betala,it means kronor(swedens money) and betala(pay) so maybe they are on the russian-finnish line because they talk swedish in Finland,they are teaching that in schools and stuff.but that just a guess,maybe it is wrong

@xzas325 Actually some Finnish guy from Valve made that kronor and summa thing in gas pumps. It's like easter egg or something. He also made "veikko" texts in walls in city 17, it's finnish and it mens fellow, but it's probably also be some finnish or estonian name. City 17 could be in Kalingrad or some Baltic country (Btw there's many Café Baltics in city 17)

alyx isn't in hl1, gordon gets teleported, and all the other charachters get moved there by the combine. that is why.

HL2 is set quite some time after that, as is evident by the fact that Combine has enslaved all of the world.
