@Rocketboy1950 Thanks Rocket! I've watched a few of your rail-fanning videos in the past. They're very good. I agree about the reflection, very annoying when driving too. I'll be picking up a dash mat for this summer :-)
@Vexingshadow92 110 of course! +/- 10%. :-) The speed I was travelling, a police officer would not batter an eyelid at. Would not register on the point to point camera radar either.
You'll see that come the Sturt Highway when I slowed to 100ish, I was overtaken by 3 cars and only passed 1.
@happytodd I used a ContourGPS which I record all my trips with. Cheaper versions of the same camera are out there minus the GPS recording features. I used a combination of Windows Live Movie Maker and Adobe Elements to speed up the video and edit sound. Thanks for watching :-)
I hate pointless little towns like Murambateman just outside Canberra/Swindletown. they do nothing but constipate the traffic and the road works never seem to get done. someone should just throw a bulldozer through it and make the duel carriageway start early. or at least put an overpass over it so it dies a slow painful death. I can think of several others that deserve the same treatment..
@Lastindependentthink Shame you feel that way man. Little towns like that are where all the interesting history is at. There's a restaurant in Murrumbateman where I had the best breakfast ever. Found it only because I decided to stop in town and have a look around there one day. Dual carriageways are awesome when in a hurry, but they're all exactly the same! When I have time I always take the old highways.
Thanks for the armchair journey. Haven't travelled that area for a few years. See the roads around Canberra still A1, then you cross the border, and get pot holes and shittier roads haha....
@yedmia The Barton Hwy is a major route and high priority for Canberra, and the ACT side of the highway is very local to the seat of the ACT (territory) government, so the ACT govt looks after its side well.
The Barton Hwy is a backwater in the NSW scheme of things. It's remote and out-of-sight from the Sydney-based NSW government and is a low priority for them, so the NSW side of the Barton Hwy is mostly poorer than the ACT side.
It's that simple - nothing to do with the number of pollies.
nice trip i wish I had a car that went that fast
