OMG! She so badly wanted to be Pat Benatar. She's even dressed like her in this video. But even as good as Rindy was, she'd never be able to match Pat in vocal talent, fame, or beauty.
Great vid. That extended guitar solo is cool. I've always loved the symbolism of the guitar in this song. When he kicks on the fuzz box and hits that formerly soft chord HARD & LOUD to indicate that her heart it is indeed hardened, it is straight up KILLER, especially live. Thanks for posting these Quarterflash vids, bhixson. 80's rock rules.
This song really is special. It's has emotion and brings so much of it on in me. Mostly sadness but that's why I love it. Glad I thought of finding it here after so many years. They don't make tunes like this anymore folks and that's what's really sad.
Saw Quarterflash open for Elton John at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater on this same tour in California in 82 ...they were awesome. Almost stole the show from Elton.
You may be right. The instrument looks awful big for a tenor, but maybe she's tiny. And her sound has such balls that I never heard from Paul Desmond or Julian Adderly or Art Pepper.
@innamorata40 Opinions are like assholes everybody has one. Some people just act like one. It would be a really good concert though Pat and Quarterflash. Just something about a female sax player that brings back old high school memories.
First of all, I don't know who ever said this was grunge-music!! (Douglasscatti) Punk music was referred 2 as Grunge music (late 80's/early 90's). Quarterflash was was Pop/Rock. There will never be groups like this, ever. Quarterflash, Level 42, Swingout Sister, Culture Club, Rick Astley. Groups/singer like these aren't made, thery're born. And nothing, NOTHING will ever replace the music that was made in the 80's. Today's music is crap, nothing more or nothing less.Just CRAP!
griunge is not music instruments out tune nobody on key slamming, hollering ,screaming, kicking etc etc. i didn't notice any of this in this video lsd does strange things to some folks.
Well Said...I was raised with this music through my childhood in the 70's and 80's .......There hasn't been any harmony or soul since the times before Grudge music.
I had MTV from day one, 24/7 music but only 450 vids at first, 1000 by next month . This is so much better than that crazy MTV video ! Yes, an underrated band, with 2 super songs !
To bad Rindy Ross and her Hubby Ptere were a flash in the pan. They were awsome. They went back to being school teachers? What became of them? I loved their band!
esa es musica y creatividad, la cago la mina, seca, y mas encima toca saxo!! osea!!! los 80 y 90 los mejores años de la creacion musical. lo de hoy...BASURA!!
They were a Portland band. They probably traveled all through the region before they got a record deal and had to change their name to something more marketing friendly.
The QF performances from this show was aired on a TV show called "Blue Jean Network" back in the early 80s, and is what made me run out an buy their first album. This was a great show with interviews too, with Rindy and John Ross explaining why they stopped teaching and went to performing. If you have any more of this, please post. The whole show was great. Thanks for sharing this!
One thing I wanted to add/correct to my post that it was Rindy and Marv Ross and not Rindy and John Ross. Also, there is another posting from this show at this youtube link:

Love Jack Charles going out near the audience.
Was there when Joan Jett leaned out over the audience in Seattle in 1994 and we lapped up her sweat.
brianallancobb 1 year ago
Love the longer hair, the clam digger pants, the tight-fitting blouse, the bowler...
Everything else (the mix, Marv Ross, Jack Charles) is better in the other live video on YouTube, identified as "RARE LIVE".
Think this one was recorded at least a year earlier.

Can sure blow the hell out of the tenor sax, too.

@brianallancobb If it's a tenor sax then every note she's hitting is in the altissimo register.
