I too have had this debate with myself, and I come from a Sunni Muslim background. I strongly believe, though while it can't replace Islam, and is not a Hadith, music, especially improvised is also a spiritual journey, one of self-discovery and a celebration of life itself. I firmly believe that Allah and all the other gods from various religions gave music as a gift of expression
@Jazzyteach65 My folks are muslim, I'm not but how do I describe myself "a spiritual thiest, maybe an agnostic who says it's possible for a creator to exist but demands better proof." or something else entirely"? I don't know. However I respect islamic culture and the Quran as a cultural artifiact. However if you beleive it the word of god, obey it when it says you need nothing else, it admits no need for hadtih, or any man made text.
I love how Sufis recognise how music is a gift. Not like the wahabis who are backward and misguided in thinking their religion forbids music (it does not!!!) In Turkey where I was born sufis use music to reach the divine, and you rmusic is divine.
@deejin25 I thank you for the blessing of your comments. I've had this debate myself over weather music is forbidden. The evidence for their claims is dubious at best and superstitions at worst.
Fortunately my Islam is derived from an African tradition which pays little attention to hadith and focuses on a thoughtful-logical approach to religious practice. We have our faults, but the use of music is certainly not one of them.
I'm not religious, but of course being Turkish Islam, as well as many other things influence me, via culture. However my Quranic studies brought a huge thing to my attention. The Quran tells you it is complete, the word of god, and absolutely comprehensive, it mentions that the only authentic Hadith are those in the text of the Quran! Ergo if you believe the Quran is the complete, perfect word of God..... Continued
(I don't necessarily go there, but do believe the same things inspire spiritual seekers everywhere so in that sense it is divine) thus if you DO believe the Quran is true when it tell you it is complete and you need no other source, then adopting ANY Hadith written by a man is unecessary and may get in the way of the central message of the Quran which is humanistic, and moderate. Also it mentions God/Allah/Elohim, etc.sending David the psalms, which were SONG and DANCE!
wow, I am impressed, I like this type of music.

But I reiterate, your music is great and you've introduced me to a new art and I'm happy because of it.

I love this sound and am glad I discovered this style (in a sense that it is unknown to me). Thank you for sharing this!
