Elderkso- I notice that the headlights arent flashing. Is this because the hand brake is on? Our new Ambs that have a new style of lighting and controls are being made down the line and their head lights only wig-wag when the hand brake is off.
I got 100 models in of these in blue/green and orange to fix to my security vehicles and they are good in brightness but they are very unreliable i think i pleanned to buy 100 and sooo many didnt work in the end i went £89,000 in debt and bought around 400 just for 100 cars bit bad ay??:)
Would be nice to see these on AvSec vehicles. We just have the standard amber lights on top of the Honda CRVs. Haven't had a closer look at who makes them, but you have to keep the car running at all times otherwise it drains it pretty fast
A few of the Avsec cars in auckland have something similar. They also have the same code 3 ones but instead of having the normal secondary lights they have the led modules like what we have on the dash. Nautech in east tamaki where installing it on the day I saw it.
@elderkso Wow, it seems that England is the only country with decent emergency service vehicles, some US cars are ok, but England has BMW's and Volvo's, Subaru's and Mitsubishi's they could beat any other police cars!
Don't see why nautech couldn't do that, as they make the controllers.
I personally will be glad to see the end of the MX7000s, good lightbar for their time.. 10 years ago. Too clunky. Too big.
Am yet to see one of these in action in real life, I hope they use a better flash pattern than whats shown here, given they appear to be a knockoff of a code3 X2100 series lightbar, i'm sure they do have more patterns.
Nautech do put leds in the mx 7000s. I was in there when they were doing the aviation secrity service lightbars. All they do is put the dash lights in the normal flasher place. This is the only flash pattern the police have signed off for the time being.
The fisrt led lightbar pattern they had on the concept car was slower and was in a "chaos" pattern. The good thing about the led lightbars is that they can change the internals when new technology comes about. The biggest factor is money!!! They only two negative issues I have with these lightbars is that it has really poor angle warning power as you can only see about 3 leds at 45 degrees and the takedown and alley lights are crap! Im in no hurry to have my mx replaced
Yeah. The Code3 version came with either 4- or 6-LED Optix. Interesting choice Nautech making their own, as the 2100 series have plenty of intersection warning capability. Then again I'm going by what I've seen and heard of in the States, and alot of the Chargers, Impalas, Crown Vics have LEDs in the wing mirrors pointing forward, as well as on the front pushbumpers pointing sideways.
If the MX7000s the Aviation Security Service have, have LEDs then they could be an Excalibur, again by Code3
Nautech out their own flashers in the aviation lightbars, the same ones they have in our cars. The led modules that nautech make aren't as good as the code 3 version but not far off. I visit nautech every now and then to see what new stuff they come up with and ill tell you what they have mad some neat stuff but its all too expensive to fit to all our fleet.
Apparently the NZ police are looking in to controlling their LED light bars, and other equipment by tough screen computer in their police vehicles. And also adding Dash-Cams to some vehicles.
Eventually they will but it will be years before they do. They have to get the computers to work properly before they can do it! As for the cameras, the police car at big boys toys is just a concept car and the police wont be getting those for a long time yet because of funding.
well they already have the new non mufti sv6 police cars with the leds in christcurch. btw im a holden buff so i wouldnt have mistaken a ve sv6 for a ve omega i know what i saw and that car at big boys toys is already on the streets
You are right, the car at big boys toys is on the streets but it used as a concept car that travels all over the country. I first saw it in march last year and then in september when I used it for a couple of days. The dash cams are a trial and it is unlikely they are going to be implemented any time soon.
The remote head controller and siren unit is still the same. The lightbar lets itself down with the 45 degree angle warning and the leds can be washed out in bright sunlight. I would have liked to see the led modules incorparated into the mx 7000s first as the aviation security service has. Also for some reason it generates more noise at high speed than the mx's
sad to see the old lightbars go. But its going to save in the polices petrol bill which is good thing. I have one question to ask: Will the new LES lightars be controlled by the same light an siren controller that the Code 3 MX7000 lightbars have?
I wish America had nice cop cars, we've got ford explorers, ford crown vics, chevy impalas, dodge chargers, and the very few camaros and challengers

The headlight flashers only work if the transmission is in drive or reverse and if the headlights are off.

As long as they work and do the job I'm sure they will be fine, it's just a lightbar after all, just another tool to use.
