@NasriTheNewKing, thanks for the advice. I've read more than a hundred history books and memoirs abour WW1. Fact is that Germany declared war against France on August 3rd, 1914. Sorry if this fact does not fit with your "logic".

Nop it does not fit my logic for the simple reason called the Schlieffen plan , if you have opend "hundred history books " you know what that plan was , to invade France through Belgium ( which allowed britain to enter in the war ) which obligate them to declares war on Belgium before France , anyway Clemenceau was already talking about the war in 1906 , and look when the plan was made 1913 , whch show that the war was already planned . It was just a matter of time.

Besides, plenty of war plans are elaborated all the time, just in case: They don't automatically led to war. In July 1914, most decision-makers believed that this new crisis would be solved by the diplomats, as other crises had been since 1900: peacefully. There is no strict determinism in history.

The war was planned since 1871 to take back Alsace-lorraine region , Clémenceau made a anti-german propaganda, why do you think when the War happened the french were almost singing , walking against germany, and that's why they made the schliffen plan highed influenced by the franco-prussian war, because they saw it coming , and now why put russia in that plan? As for Clemenceau, he did not "take power" (France had a parliamentary regime, which controlled cabinets tightly and overthrew them periodically). He was Prime minister several times in 1906-1909, then went back to being a simple deputy. He had no power in 1914. Besides, no French politician since 1880 wanted a war against Germany.

I remember going to school and was told a bunch of lies of who started First World War. With modern day technology we all know it was Serbia behind World War one. The Serbs wanted to conquer Bosnia. Now with Kosovo being independent it marks the end of Serbian empire.

Serbia only indirectly triggered WW1. WW1 Was caused due to outer factors like German and Italian imperial squeaking about better distribution of colonies.(They were a little bit late when the race began).
Serbia wanted to annex Bosnia, as Serbs were most numerous population in that region. It was Austria-Hungary that occupied them.
Why don't you look at your own empire. Your attacking Nations that aren't even ethnic "USA-lings"

Austria-Hungary was known as the Dual Monarchy. The Archduke wanted to give Bosnia equal status within the Empire, making it the Triple Crown Empire. By giving them equal status, Ferdinand was hoping to settle down the rumblings of rebellion in their Bosnian territory.

archduke didn't want to give Bosnia equals status together with Germans in Austria and Hungarians. He wanted to establish United States of Greater Austria. That means giving all other Austrian-Hungarian ethic groups,(Czechs,Slovaks,Croats, Slovenes,Serbs,Italians...) a state, autonomy and other special rights. Country was already at the brink of rebellion and Bosnia was the least of the problems.

@SloveintzWend Franz Josef sat on two thrones: he was emperor of Austria and king of Hungary. Hence, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was often referred to as the "Dual Monarchy". Ferdinand had the plan to create the United States of Austria, yes. He apparently also planned on giving Bosnia higher or near-equal status within the Empire (status closer to Hungary's).

To whom Ferdinand was planning to give equal status?Bosnia was very diverse country. With Muslims and Serbs, after annexation,still in quarreler, not to mention Croats.

@SloveintzWend Again, from numerous books I've read (the most recent is the excellent "One Morning In Sarajevo" by David James Smith), Ferdinand did plan on giving the various peoples under the A-H rule more autonomy, but it was Bosnia he wanted to give the most autonomy to, a higher status.

Would simply etching Bosnia into the A-H crest thrown cold water on the desire for a South Slav state? Doubtful.

Bosnia was perhaps their most rebellious territory, so Ferdinand wanted to diffuse their desire to join with Serbia by giving them higher status. Obviously, some Serbs didn't like that.

It was definitely Ferdinand's idea, according to a couple books and a documentary I watched. Franz Josef spent most of 60 plus year reign resisting reform, not embracing it. He once boasted to President Teddy Roosevelt that he was "the last old-style monarch" left in Europe.

@K181800 Agreed. The war would have broken out, one way or another, no matter what had happened in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. The paranoia from the out of control arms race and the conflicts over territory made for a toxic brew in Europe. The European powers would have found a reason to fight somehow. It's pretty sad that greed was at the heart of a war that killed about nine million soldiers.

@ChrisY2JJ Yeah,but that wouldn't help that much.The majority of Bosnia(now and then) are the Serbs.After being under the Turks for 300-400 years and then under the Austro-Hungarian rule,they weren't happy...so I doubt that would help.

How this lie is still propagated... The Black Hand, the Terrorist organization that killed Franz Ferdinand, was headquartered in Toulouse, France. Serbia did support them, but the steering came from "democratic" republican France. Not to forget that the French had already supported the Turks against Austria a few hundred years earlier....
