Wow thats a lot of watches... What age were u when u started?? n Howmuch do u think you have invested into ur collection?? As a poor student I do not have much to spend on watches but I have absolutely fell in love with watches since the age of about 16... myself would have more the preference for high-end watches, but damn they come with a price tag! Love the heritage of the brands. My dream would be to own a Patek Pilippe or a Lange & Sohne watch... Dunno if I ever will though.... :s
I'm so glad you have some of the newer generation Magico. Totally different from the old stuff. The Magicos with Miyota movements are solid, heavy and big. Very good quality bracelet, crystal, and movement for under 100 bucks. Lately they've been wiped off the face of the internet because their reputation from the early days still haunt them and none of the pictures online ever do it justice. In real life they're so classy compared to those dull pictures online. People who own them know ^^
Nice collection. I'm glad you didn't pay a lot for some of your watches. I went for the Seiko 5's and two Wohlers and 1 Rousseau. Only one fake Seiko . The Rousseau and Wolher all come from the same company in Texas. They have many different parts. They claim a suggested retail price of $1200 or less but when they are on E-bay the bidding starts at zero. I paid $70 cnd . There good but not that good. I'm still impressed though.
After a few months I have added even more to the collection to include a few chepies from e-Bay that were not AAM watches. I didn't realize how well made the AAM watches really were until I bought some "real" cheap watches that felt like they were made of tin foil and are pressed together (not screwed down). Many of the AAM watches rival department store watches (many of which use exact same guts). To date, I have had 2 AAM watches fail - not too bad when considering how many I have bought.
Me too, especially when it has the same guts as many department store brands for way way less, yet different enough to no be able to find at a department store. Don't get me wrong, the department store has a few I wouldn't mind having.
thank goodness for you that most aren't battery operated. it would be a headache replacing all those batteries (and costly). so do you hand wind all your watches or keep them on a winder? you have way, way, way too many watches :)
My wife agrees that I have way way too many watches - which is why I started selling a few off to trim my collection down to 160. I'll prep a watch I'm going to wear the next day so I hand crank it the night before. I have watch winders but they're hardly used. I use the few battery operated watches as a back-up in case I'm in a rush and forget to "prep" a watch before hand. Since I only end up wearing a particular watch a few times a year, they mainly stay in their respective display cases.
So how well do the alwayatmarket watches work? I found out from the watchuseek forum that the movements are Chinese Sea-Gull automatic movements. I am thinking about a Rousseau Chronicle watch or something similar (for the right price), but I wonder what I can expect out of one.
The movements are definitely good enough for Android, Emporio Armani, Kenneth Cole, Ann Klein, Armitron and a whole slew of "name brands" that use Sea Gull movements. Always@Market also utilizes another Chinese made manufacturer in may watches that I have seen in Stuhrlings and others. They also sell many watches with Japanese Miyota (Citizen) that I find in Invictas, Majicos and Crotons; Seiko made J-Springs, and a few Swiss autos and quartz.
So they run the gammit when it comes to movements.
It's a NARMI I won on U-Bid. I think I paid something like $15 for it if that. It's gimmicky but cool. The watch itself is cheaply made but it at least has a Japanese quartz movement - one of the very few battery operated watches in my collection. Now they have new version where the bottom half is covered. I've only seen these in black and white face.
I think you might be referring to the diver's watch with the stainless face that looks white. It's a Jacques Lemans automatic I purchased from Amazon. Pretty good price. It's not Swiss though - Japanese Miyota movement which works good in it's own right. It's perfect of you have a medium to large size wrist. I have a small wrist and had to jerry-rig it to make it fit. It's a nice watch.
At first I though it was pretty ambitious to have one for every day of the week. Then the wife went crazy when I wanted one for each day of the month. That's when I started buying her a few and now all is good. I told my self I would stop at 100, but alas, I keep going. I think one for each day of the year is my new goal.

@madesoldiercow Interesting - I just googled it, but I'm having a hard time finding the watch. For $15 that is a steal!!
