  • 2 people got a job at Chick-fil-a.

  • the bassist is awesome

  • WOOOOO!

  • That sound-yo-video delay is psychedelic...

  • i wish they would get back together... at least with the Bass player.. hes one of the best bass players ive ever seen. Love his sound.

  • great bass

  • I prefer Ben playing solo. Most of his songs sound best with just a piano

  • I've been to three Ben concerts -- he always say's "I thought about...your mommy" at the end of Army for a crowd reaction. Pretty funny =)

  • LOL "i thought about your mommy"

  • if I were him I would have said "son you're sexin' high."

  • You can totally tell their so sick of each other at this point. There's just no enthusiasm from them.

  • @mbasketcballb he says " oh shit!"

  • sounds a bit more like here have some pie

  • in this version i thought he was saying

    "son here have some pie"

i might be wrong but it would be really cool

  • woot big band

  • i like 'been thinking about.........your mommy...'

  • Yes! Tom Maxwell and Ken Mosher from Squirrel Nut Zippers on horns!

  • he should have said "your fucking high"!!!!

  • They're great.

  • never should have broke up...bens new drummer and bass player will never even come close to comparing in terms of how genius they are...jerrn and robert are the best

  • They broke up right after this performance...

  • Wrong Letterman performance. They broke up a few months after they performed "Barrytown."

  • @Terp02 I had always wished they had just taken a break instead of breaking up. They were so tired from over-touring and they were just so beaten down at this point. Their record label was the true cause of the breakup. Non-stop pressure to go go go.

  • is it ben folds that writes all theyre music? cause thats a freaking awesome song on every level lol i love the horns too. im a bit of a rude boy :p

  • @MattLikesMusic27 Ben wrote a lot, but the chorus for "Brick," for example, was Darren Jesse.

  • @MattLikesMusic27

RUDEBOYS yeah they're coming around and the police don't like'em hanging round... haha

  • so sick

  • 2:41, pick slide?

  • Comment removed

  • He says "son you're oh so high"

  • @alucardmai but on the track version he says fucking high

  • HAHAHAH was not expecting your mom

  • It just seems a lot slower to me for some reason..

  • My god! Having seen snippets of Elton's 11/17/70 performance, this sent chills down my spine. If he were born 30 years sooner, he'd be a goliath. Amazing.

  • He says "Here son have some pie"

  • My god Elton John's spawn from his short-lived, ill-fated 1984 marriage has emerged!! Seriously though, this guy kicks ass.

  • Highlarious!

  • OMG i laughed my ass off at "i thought about... you mommy"! <3<3<3<3 That man knows his piano...

  • Ben Folds Five kicks ass!! The piano in this song is sick!

  • Damn, He is good live!

  • Is that Tom Maxwell on tenor there?

  • hell yes it is...

  • i thought about your mummy.

  • ahhaahah ! I thought about..... your mommy... that was awesome.

  • he said "dad said son your oh so high"

he changes it because first he can't say f*** on live tv and second thats what good musicans do they keep coming up with better ideas for the song... Ben Folds is brilliant plain and simple.

  • The usual way he censors it for live is "son, you must be high", so I was thrown for a bit of a loop.

  • yeah thats what he usually says but he changes it in this video thanks :D

  • Damn the ghost of Ed Sullivan. HIGHER

  • its on live tv......

  • ok he says "well son your up so high" not sublime high dumbass!

  • your mommy....I love it! what's the point in playing music if you can't have a little fun with it ;)

  • Why does Ben folds keep changing the words to this song. In the music video its, "son you must be high", in a different performace its"fuckin high" and in this one its "sublime high" or something"

  • He does that so he doesn't get bleeped out every time he sings the song. And I'm pretty sure he says, "Oh so high" on this one.

  • @nixrox13 u cant say fuck on national tv i dont know y its sublime high in the other one though

  • @nixrox13 you cant say "Son ur fuckin' high" on national television!

  • this is a TOUGH song...and I thought...about ...your mommee....lol oh ben.

  • this is the reason folds solo career will never match the way it used to be. that sounded 'exactly' as it does on the track, and its because its played exactly how it is recorded, unlike his songs now, where he records all the instruments seperatly, and then when he plays live it just isnt the same. but that there was ben folds i reckon at his best.

  • you are an idiot. live songs are supposed to sound different, thats what makes good live bands. if they just played it straight from the album, just go listen to the cds, thered be no point in seeing them live. you are musically retarded.

  • do u play an instrument? well if u do, u would no what it is like playing live, and the fact that it sounds different isnt because they play it different, but because it is so hard to get it to sound the same! the ability to get it to sound like your listening to the cd is amazing! People don't go because it is different, they go to see the band play! to be able to hear the songs being played straight from the instruments, and not from the cd, and the closer it sounds to the cd the more amazing!

  • actually, i play the piano, drums, and guitar. and yeah, its hard to replicate your recordings sure, but coming from a guy who has been to over a hundred different shows, ide much rather see a band play a song differently from the way on the record. if i wanted to hear the cd's recording, ide stay home and listen to the album. shut up seriously, you are an idiot, you dont know what your talking about, and get over it.

  • dude, calm down! the first comment i made was my opinion! as a pianist as well, personally i would much rather hear them play exactly as it sounds on the album, thats just what i prefer! now can you please drop it?? and you rally shouldnt call randoms on the internet idiots, it really makes you look bad. and btw, check out my vid of me playing 'philosophy', i know you prob hate me now, but as a music fan i wanna know what you think.

  • your right, ia m pretty agrressive and thats not cool. its just that you are soooo wrong its frustrating to read such stupid comments. your right it is an opinion, but hey paul mccartney is a better musician than britney spears. thats an opinion, but there is still "rights" and "wrongs"

  • Is it me or is he getting back at the censors around 2:33? Sounds like he's saying "yea bitch! bitch yea!"

  • I think he's just having a damn good time. I know I would have if I was him during that performance.

  • thanks for posting!

  • "I thought about your mommy."

    Ha ha.

  • brass is sooo loud but still an amazing performance
