@ubxp So, Im not sure if you noticed that I cut my own blow hole, side window, and added my own custom cut heatsinks to the ram on the graphics card along with replacing the vga cooler. So, unless you have a video showing you've done something more "custom" then that please do tell.
@jellypoopoo ZOMG you swaped out a VGA cooler thats heaps pro. srsly thats like nothing, ill admit that the blow hole is "cutom" but hardly worth showing it on youtube. Also i wasnt the one claming to have build a custom PC.
@shxxx82 The three fans on the side blow air into the case directly on the graphics card. The fans help a ton when playing games to keep the graphics card cool, however, you want to make sure the fans pulling air out can get similar cfm, cause otherwise the fans will die out sooner. Thats why I placed the one on top blowing out, and yes, I do think it makes a large difference because heat rises, so might as well throw it in to remove the hot air pocket in the top of the case. Thanks for askin!
my build is from august 2008 and still beats a lot of today computers(q6600+freezer 7pro; hd4870,x38 motherboard,4gigs of patriots,wd raptor+hitach 500gb for storage) it was a monster back then :)
this fuckin video was uploaded 3 years ago give the guy a break that shit was new back then the i7 wad just a day dream give the guy a break its not a bad computer for its day
Yeah unfortunately I built it stock first then a few months later decided to mod the case but I'm no fool went through the pain and suffering of tearing it down and rebuilding it. Either way it was ok because it was then that I added the GPU cooler so it needed to be pulled apart anyhow.
Love the build, I'djust have ditched the 8800 gpu,.. I had one of those and the dang thing crashed 7months later,.. got an rma, and the new one crashed another 7months later. 8800's SUCK!
Thats too bad man, I guess I got lucky because I'm still rolling on the same original card its getting close to two years now! But, of course it makes no difference things get better so fast I really need to upgrade again. They get your money either way.
Well,."I" had the 8800 GTX, and it was a heap of junk. I paid nearly $600 for it, and it lasted 7months, then the 1st RMA was defective, & the 2nd RMA lasted another 7 months. After that I told EVGA to send me a different card. I ended up selling that card because I didn't trust it. I got this XFX 9800 & LOVE it,.. not a single problem.
@germanwolf34 Thats what i said.; Its a revison. With the 9800 they changed the core so it wouldnt get that hot anymore, the instructions are the same.
I can't remeber for sure this was now rolling close to a few years old but I think I got it for 750ish, which was pretty cheap for a couple years ago.
lol. i wouldnt call my self a king. im a hobbyist and a curious person. I kind of person that says " ooh what does this button do?' but i do take pre-cautions. thanks
It is proper. I used thermal paste on the GPU core I had to use special thermal epoxy made by Artic Silver because the heatsinks for the ram have no bracket. They hang upsidedown. It is specifically made for this task.
Well I'm sorry you get "pissed off" about it but I must say this is trip-hop not techno. Have you looked at any of my other videos? You would then see that It's not all I listen to.
To be honest I forget the model for it but it was a super cheap Rosewill case I paid around 15 bucks for. No joke, found it on newegg. It was the only case I could find that had no fancy things on it since I planned on cutting out the window and top myself.
Unfortunatly I have not been able to overclock the Q6600. The motherboard I have is not capable of much. I recieved the Q6600, Mobo, and Vista in the "Intel Retail Package" for way cheap. When I built it I was short on funds and had to use the cheap Mobo. I should have upgraded from that a long time ago... :(
I know what that is like. I have had a few boards like that myself.
There are some software overclocking options kind of a work around for boards that dont have many bios options . If a person wanted to play around with it.
Yeah I did try a few of those not many would work on my Mobo. I got SetFSB to work but I couldn't do much without crashing. I ended up just OC the graphics card and leaving it at that. But hey its still plenty fast to do anything I need. I will definatly get high end mobo when I build my next one though.
That looks like a intel Mobo if it is I may have a link to show you a good software for using on it. It worked well on a gateway I have with a intel board.
Kelli Dayton sings "In the Blue" from the band Sneaker Pimps. She was only their lead singer for a little while till they kicked her out over ten years ago.
Hey, I actually used a jig saw. I don't have a hole saw big enough to make the 120mm fan hole. I just drew a circle and did it by hand hopeing for the best. Turned out pretty decent anyway!
As far as ideas, I say try to make things unique. I know the above computer is not the most unique but I went green (not blue), which is sort of uncommon. Themed computers are great! If you have a favorite: car, show, game, or culture I would go that rout. you should post a vid when your done I'd like to see it!
It was actually a pain getting all the green fans in both 80 and 120. Not many stores had both. They are all Apevia brand and I've been pretty happy with them. The model for the 80 is CF4SL-UGN and the model for the 120 is CF12SL-UGN. They move some serious air! Thanks for the feedback.
