my very first atlatl

Try to get some river cane for your darts. Fit them with a hardwood foreshaft and a stone head. Try for approx. a 5 to 7 pound spine on a 7 foot cane. Awesome. They'll never beat a good bow but they aren't intended to. They are fun to throw. One fellow said he was trowing his atlatl. I told him that if he was throwing his atlatl he was doing something wrong. He asked why? I told him he should be throwing the dart. I won't tell you what he called me. :)

yer the end flys down you need soem feather u dont even have to clue them down just tie two to the end and yer

Hey john wicked stuff,

I've read that a more flexible handpiece produces better results as well as a softer dart.

a flight on the end helps also.

its got something to do with the bend created by the inertia when you stat the throw and as you release the handle bends back into shape and sorta helps throw the dart...

nice atlatl, but the darts.....

make them twice as long and throw the heavy ends forward...this should stabilize them better....

also if you scrape the bark you will lighten them up a bit as well,and add 2 feathers wrapped like mine...
