Good video! I thought it was very good to see him pause in the middle of his lesson to show how it's important to always have a good look around before executing a manoeuvre in order to avoid potential hazards.
It shoud be great sailing in here with all this Aussie Hot air blowing around :) His mommy didn't put enough milk in his oatmeal so he just needs a hug. If that doesn't work then maybe a foot up his Kangaroo kissing ass!
I agree with you "foss" that it's a decent instructional that teaches these fundamentals in an easy to understand way. It would be very difficult to teach and sail in heavy wind. I absolutely loath a superior attitude based on where a person is from. There are excellent sailors in the U.S. as I'm sure there are in Australia. One thing we can also be sure of is that there is at least one a-hole in Australia. Thank you EXPERT VILLAGE for the vids.
He's covering the basics in light wind. Jibing is different in different boats. Jibing doesn't necessarily suck - some boats will jibe quite gently, some boats you have to be more careful in a jibe.
before bringing your main in, tell your crew you are about to gybe: they do want to know that the boom will come by above their head (or in their head if you don't tell them)
At the end of the gybe, trim your sail. your jib is poorly trimmed on the video.
Before mentioning the motorboat, there is no way you can get anymore into the wind, all your sails are already luffing...
Bad helming...
Is it normal practice that no one is at the helm during the tack???
Oh, I'm sorry, did I spell that to your miserable liking? Or am I missing a couple more of well-deserved insults? :D Boy, do I love messing with all sorts of arrogant pricks. Knowing that your head is exploding with anger as you read this brings me a warm cozy feeling of genuine satisfaction.
By the way, who's won the Ashes this year? Was it, NOT you guys??? Or was it England?? Hm??? :DDD

Videos like this make it seem 2 easy. Bring ur main in hakf way?? Try that in a dingy, gybing sucks. If u wanna sail jump in a laser,

Wow,Just another Inexperianced dick that thinks Lasers are the Best of the best.
They are not. They may be a good "Dingy" Class vessel but realy if you wanna sail Use a Real boat

Really not much wind though.
It's not that simple when the wind gets up.

i thought its spelt as 'Gybing' not jibbing.
1728lorenxo 3 years ago
both spelling are now accepted... Gybing is the "old fashion" english term, whileJibbing is the US way of writing...
Remember: yanks can't spell (and when I see those videos, I know now why they can't sail either...

Come on out to San Francisco Bay and sail, big shot. We'll show you how we sail.
And before lecturing us about spelling, you might want to review your elementary school books on capitalization.
