  • i feel like a genius now that i can play itt

  • what was the iMac application you were using?!

  • You need to slow down the tempo on that program. You don't get the true essence of this song when it's at speedy robot tempo.

  • If learning this means I can go and play on the pianos in Dawsons with jam on my fingers and get away with it I WILL!!

  • THIS IS HOW YOU PROVE THAT GUITAR HERO IS FOR NOOBSTERS

  • gee thanks for the help i really feel like i could just go sit down at any piano and play it flawlessly.

  • @cynthia42096 wouldn't it be more likely if you were a human? because an octopus only has eight tentacles while a human has 10 fingers...

  • This song is so much easier to learn with sheets, Plus the sheets are free, you can find them in public domain. Also, this being a romantic piece, you can play it a tempo you feel is right. Because some of this was ridiculously fast, not difficulty wise, but if you want to enjoy the piece you should be playing it at a good speed instead of hyper speeding through it.

  • It's easier with sheet music. -.-'

  • @evilbettie whaat, no waay... I tried but the sheets look like chinese texts, even when i know what every single character means. (ps: im not chinese^^)

  • why are the most beautiful songs so difficult?

  • this is like dragonforce on guitar hero

  • This is amazing, you helped me learn it in 30 minuits, much easier than reading sheet music, thank you!

  • My hand is to small ='(

    hahaha

  • oh my god. the middle part is ridiculous. i hope i can play it eventually D:

  • i was watching Tokyo Sonata and the little boy played this movement flawlessly and it was pretty moving, the film and scene in general.

  • aaww's, i learnt this song like 6 months ago, sometimes i play often, sometimes i dont play in whole month, and im forgetting all songs ive learnt.. but i must seriously just play once a week, i dont want to lose my piano playing skill :/ so now im learning the part 2:30 again. and i have laptop so its soooo much easier to learn now!

  • i cannnnooooot do 2 octaves with the same hand man!!!

  • It's set too fast ^^'' the song is slow paced ^^'

  • how in hell name are you supossed to do the bit at 1:00 ??

  • @xxIreneRuthxx green is your right hand and blue is your left hand. your supposed to use all your fingers too.

  • @xxIreneRuthxx It's easier than you think. I've learned about the first 2 ish pages in the last week.

  • at that speed, the music is just terrifiing O_o

  • what the hell this is made for 3 hands

  • 100%. you rock!

  • @xxmeganleaxx

    No way man!

You have to play the left side of it with your feet! Right?!

    :P

It's a shame how people will rely on synthesia to learn a piece when It's so much easier to tell how to play it by actually reading the music.

  • don't believe ur left hand can do this 1:20

  • Is it possible for me to learn this? I can only reach a octave and 1 not further with difficulty...

  • while my playing is excelling my understanding of sheet music is awful and holding me back, i am striving to improve it but this is SO very helpful for now, especially when it comes to some of the chords thanks alot

  • Piano Hero ! What music video games should be :D

  • I dont know to much about grading on piano. I started played 6/7 months ago cuz i got my piano. I alredy can play (at 100% speed and no mistakes) about 6 songs:

    moonlight sonata first mvnt

    fur elise

    struggle for pleasure

    valse d amelie (piano version)

comptine d'un autre été (my favorite one)

    le moulin

    clocks

I have alredy started river flows in you, almost done, and now im starting this one, isnt too hard. Hardest one i have started are: Hungarian Rhapsody #2 , La Campanella (piano) best pieces

  • Today's Christmas Eve and I'm 12. My dad's favourite piece of music is Clair De Lune, so I am determined to actually learn the full song all through today. I am around grade 4 - 5 on piano (I don't like grading. I learn my own way.) and if I learn it by tommorow my dad will be so proud. I really hope I learn it or at least the start. I might have to shorten it if I don't have the time. Wish me luck and Merry Christmas!

  • @DropsterProductions WOW! My dad wants me to play it for him too! I'm 13 and i'm level 6-7ish. I learn my own way too(: good luck, even though Christmas was about 3 weeks ago. :D

  • @pyropinkmonkey12 I actually did it! Even the hard bits! And it was great because he started crying with happiness afterwards. He's really proud with me! Good luck to you as well and thank you!

  • @DropsterProductions, did you ever end up playing it? :p

  • @DropsterProductions Hey did you get around to learning this?

  • I can see you in the corner. :3

  • If i were a spider with 8 legs, i could maybe play this, but not when im human:o

  • this can be done, you need to use the pedal in parts though. when it looks like he hold down a key that far from the others then use the pedal so its sound as if you are holding it down, thats what i did and it is working for me. i have mastered everything up to 1:26.

  • how ma I supposed to play this? I don't have 4 hands!

  • This is my grandma's favorite song, so I'm going to learn it to play for her on thanksgiving! :D

  • Hey can anyone help me. I heard this song in the Film We are the night. And my question is where I can find this song. because I want it with singing. I think its a version from the 20's

  • where can i get this for synthesia

  • This song isn't actually that hard. This tutorial just makes it seem like impossible. It just means lots of stretching your fingers :) and maybe a few octopus tentacles =)

  • ER THIS IS NOT GRADE 10, FOR SURE.

    THIS IS BARELY GRADE 5

    its just alot of stretching

  • Though I really like the video, I don't think it's practical as a tutorial...

  • AHAHAHA, now i can MASTER this FULLY.

    eat my lune, SON :)

  • FYI- I have never played piano before, and started with this song, after 1 year of goofing around with this video It tooke me 1 month to get to 2 minutes, and another month to pratice 2:00-2:06( ish).

  • Dont attempt if you get furstrated easly. ALSO THEY ARE NOT PRESSING THAT MANY KEYS, Those are the notes ringing out... Figure out the hand placements on your own after 1:59. Or watch a concert video on it. Its easier then you think

Saumier1 I want to know how your progress is. I still am learning peaces here and there.

  • if i were an octopus, then this MIGHT be possible.

  • @cynthia42096 yeah, haha- then you would be able to hit 8 keys all at once!

    ...wait, humans have TEN fingers...

  • Comment removed

  • @cynthia42096

    hahahahahaha i agree!!

  • @cynthia42096 An octopus with 5 fingers on each tentacle. ;-)

  • @cynthia42096 At those parts where there is like 11 notes at the same time, you just play the lowest notes for a second and then they hold cause of the pedal, but you move your hand up

  • @cynthia42096 yea this tutorial doesn't really show you the pedal and the finger position you need for this song.

  • @cynthia42096 naww u couldnt really be an octopus and play it because then your suction cups would get stuck on the piano keys xD

  • @valeriatorres96 its true! xD

  • @cynthia42096 But you have ten fingers.

  • @cynthia42096 or if you had pedals...

  • I hear some two-armed octopuses can do it

  • @cynthia42096 actually ive got half of it done and ive only been learning for about eight minutes. idk if its that im a fast learner or what!

  • @cynthia42096 actually like, 15 minutes! :D hehe...

  • @cynthia42096 actually like, 45 minutes.... ITS STILL NOT THAT HARD! Even though I gave up...

  • @cynthia42096

you can play it with 10 fingers, you just have to practice. This one is simple and beautiful!

  • 2:46-2:52 is the hardest part imo

  • the part at 2:28 is famillar to me from the game zelda xD

  • @hiehoeha Ah! You're right!

  • @MrWavedreamer yeah someone gets me! xD

  • is this a game or program>??

  • @AvatarTTfan it's a sort of game. it's called synthesia

  • no you dont press all the keys at once, just use the sustain pedal for some of the notes so that they drag on lol

    hope that helped :]

  • 1:00 how is that possible?

  • How the !"#¤"% Can you press that many keys at once?

  • Great Video~

  • what program on itunes were using for this

  • emmmm yeah so maybe i'll leave that one alone

  • 2:20 is that even possible?

  • @itsCONTROVERSY Of course it is. You don't play them all at the same time and just need practice on the speed needed to move your fingers to play them all

  • @itsCONTROVERSY Yes it's possible but it's crucial to use correct finger location, It'd be cool if this tutorial had it.

  • hallo,how i can download it,please?

  • Hallo,how can i download it please?? :)

  • Generally you want to play it around 90% speed to get the full effect.

  • i don't get the left hand part how am i supposed to play the notes they're to far away?

  • thank you so much for the upload mate :)

  • i absolutely love this song, and i have been learning it on the piano from my cousin. And surprisingly it isn't that hard.

  • Ah why i ever said it doesnt feel the same when playing myself. usually when i have practised ive played with headphones , But today i played without them.

Grr, this song is awsome. and btw, I can play WHOLE song now : o

  • i can play 0:01 to 3:21 atm. Cant believe i can handle this almost. But shame it doesnt just feel the same when playing it, than listening. Maybe i focus too much on playing :?

  • I love this <3 really beautiful xD

  • .. god i wish i can play piano . i love this song like crazyyyyyy :D

  • @Annrawwhhh I just wish that those people would've been curious enough to look Debussy up by themselves instead of hearing it in Twilight. To me, it's like if most people cry to this song because it's in Twilight. ... Yeah, maybe I'm being too subjective about all this.

  • i HATE that stupid sign, as i have small window on my recorder, i sometimes miss notes.. But duuuud! I've learned lots again! from 1:20 to 2:26, almost FULL speed! ;) only thing is still audio >.< recording atm to get more learnt of this song.

  • @Annrawwhhh Yeah, but I don't like that people are associating this masterpiece with Edward and Bella. This piece should stand on its own.

  • @Annrawwhhh ... Huh? Who cares about Twilight, this song is a masterpiece! It should have never been associated with that cash cow in the first place.

  • man ur fingers must be like 10ft long to play this song!

  • @vinckg Use the pedal ;)

  • im 14 and learning this song from you. thank you so much. this is such a beautiful song/

  • pianoo hero

  • Screw the beginning, Too hard to look those notes, takes forever from small screen (phone lol)

I've learnt 1:52 to 2:12, But now im f'ed up. recorded with phone only to 2:12, And now my computers audio is broken :x This is awsome piece, I really recommend if u have trouble with beginning, learn atleast 1:52 ----> :)

  • omg make this into a piano hero and all buy it for the highest price!!!

  • WOW o_O, thats amazing finger piano skills (thumbs up :D)

  • Hey :D, im just wondering if you could do a pixar UP theme piano piece... Thanks XD

  • Comment removed

  • i don't think this is 100% Speed

and i must agree with Aberwitz88 this song can only be beatifully played if you have the sheetmusic with dynamics and stuff. And this isn't a song you just learn and play, you must feel it when you play it.

  • For a good pianist, I doubt that serve these tutorials.

    There are partitures...

And here, we don't see the musical dynamics (Forte, Mezzoforte, Piano, Regulators...)

  • I have been playing the guitar by ear for 13 years. can play lots of high tech stuff, but knew nothing about what I play

Just got a Yamaha Grand and had my first lesson. My brain just wanted to jump into this piece. well , believe it or not, I learn't the section starting at 1:52 to 2:03 just by watching this. I can only do it at 25% speed but I have total confidence that I will be able to do the entire thing at 50% in 6 months

My teacher told me that this was grade 10, is this true?

  • @saumier1 I have know idea about grades, but this is a piece for advanced players for sure.

  • @LouSophstar yep, your right, my teach yelled at me for even thinking about learning this piece. I'll try to learn it on my own but he can't know about it

  • @saumier1 it's grade 10 in RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) standards so if you can play it by ear at 25% speed, you're pretty good =) this is an amazing song, practi

  • @LouSophstar Is there such a grade as 10 ? Does it not only go to grade 8 ?

  • @briankerr092 ya 10s the highest

  • @saumier1 the highest piano level is Grade 8, maybe it may be grade 8?

  • @PurpleWhiteSnow The highest level isnt 8 it can go until level 10

  • @XDSakuraBlossomXD Idk, where I live theres only grade 8 then Diploma 1-3 etc.

There is also the teacher license exam. I'm not really sure

  • @saumier1 i really doubt this is grade 10

  • @nightcutcom I'd say Grade 7? Definitley between 6-8

  • @nightcutcom This piece is considered grade 10 because although it may sound like an easy piece to learn, it is actually quite a difficult piece to master because one truly needs to put feeling and emotion into playing the piece for it to sound beautiful.

  • @saumier1 yes, this is a grade 10 piece by RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) standards so you're a pretty good musician, I'm beyond grade 10 now but I still play this piece in my spare time because it's such a wonderful piece, I fell in love with it the first time I played it. Practice it well, if nothing, this song will definitely wow your audience ^_^

  • @FalenXangel I don't think I'm a good musician, but mabe a really good noodler.

I just started playing piano. I really want to learn this peice. I'm taking it really slow because I don't want to butcher it, so if it takes me a year then that will be fine with me. I can play up to 1:52 full speed, but the arpeggios will take me a while, too many flats or in my words black keys!

  • @saumier1 the most important thing to know when learning this piece is patience, it is a piece which is difficult not only to learn, but to master. If you truly wish to play it with the emotion and feeling that was meant for it, you have to be patient and even take more than a year, I know it took me longer than 2 years to truly begin to play with the feeling and emotion that makes this piece sound beautiful. Work hard! Your efforts will be very rewarding!

  • @saumier1

    Grade ten?

I have never heard about grades. Most people I know of that are in grade ten are 15-16 years old, and I am not sure of them playing this piece of music.

But this is definately for advanced players.

  • Well i'm not sure what country your in but in the UK there is no Grade 10, it goes up to 8 then you start doing deploma's but it's pretty impressive that you picked up the piece at quarter speed that quickly IF it was one of your first times on a piano. I'd say this was an excellent piece to learn for an "advanced beginner" as the begining is relitively simple chords without using both hands at the same time too quickly, which i found difficult when i started.

Nice piano to learn on, Gdluck :)

  • @Paradox711 I'm in Victoria BC, Canada. I don't know to much about the grades either. Some poeple say it only goes up to grade 8, some people say grade 10. So I just forget about grades and play. My teacher left me because I alwayse do my own thing. Oh well, he plays for money and I play for myself. I can play full speed up to the arpeggios at 1:52, but it goes downhill from there. So it might take a bit longer to master this than I thought

  • @saumier1 youve been playing guitar for 13 years. i AM 13. how old are you?

  • @InuBrandy1101 I am 27

  • @saumier1 wow.. thats more then twice my age. i wish i could play an instrument but i couldnt even if i tried. anyway, good luck on learning this piece :)

  • @saumier1 haha it's considered grade 6

  • @saumier1 if you want to see a most.. difficult piece.. have a look at rachmanioff's piano concerto no.2 movement 3...

  • Comment removed

  • @saumier1 music exams only go up to grade 8 lovey! xx

  • @saumier1 no such thing is grade 10, you mean performance level 10? that would be something totally impossible. Clair de lune would be about performance level 1.

This piece cannot be learnt by such visual without practice step by step, reading a score is required, however i'm very weak on sight reading.

trust me, I learnt many pieces by ear, but this one is a master piece, which cannot be heard easily.

  • @saumier1 well, that's one of the easiest parts. but, goodluck! i hope you learn it :)

  • @saumier1 not that grades are all that important but i believe it to be a grade 7 examined piece

  • The idea is that the pedal holds the sound. I thought this tutorial was a horrible example of this piece. The timing is awry at the "rubato" section of the piece and at the poco mosso section, the broken chords are split between the left and right hands to promote speed and clarity. Learn this piece from somewhere else.

  • OMG are you serious, at first I thought OK I'm gonna try this, but then half way I was like, how big should my hands be!! or is it played with four hands??

  • fantastic soothing

  • lol no you don't need 20 fingers, I play it and yes it is challenging but once you get it it just flows and it's amazing playing it. HINT: it took me 3 month to finish it working 4 hours a day 3 to 4 times a week :) GL all

  • very cool!

  • WOW. u need like 20 fingers to do this. XD

  • the beginning is soooooo easy.... i just cant play the part yet at the end where you neeed to be some inhumane alien formation or an octopus :)

  • this is one of my favourite pices ever! your an amazing pianist! :)

  • This is really hard. how to play zbout 8 notes at once, without a pedal?

  • @crushscoasterfan dude, you have 10 fingers in total xD

  • get a pc

  • Caraca, perfeito! adorei, vou baixar esse programa!!!

  • i love your tutorial its amazing it helped me learn debussy really fast

    thank you!!!

  • @animalluver619 Then this is practically impossible. Technically you could but it doesn't sound as good.

  • Well buy one if you dont have one

  • its not slow its not fast, its just that there is no humanization :)

  • Slow, but fun as hell song to play. If you think this is fast, you would shit your pants trying to play Rachmaninov. That man was a god...

  • This was the last song played in the movie Tokyo Sonata. Great Piece.

  • ahh shit its going to fast... its like trying to play guitar hero on the piano

  • @LegitMuffins That really made me laugh

  • to fast for me :(

  • doesnt this song play in the movie anestasia or something =P

  • esta, muy buena.... execente! (Y)

  • oooh so many fingers....

  • You just need a sustain pedal on your piano. Then you only need eight fingers and two thumbs :D

  • Super génial magnifique

  • I love this song...But sooooo many fingers

  • WHAT THE.... how many fingers are you supposed to have to play this song?at least 20?

  • @Strudelika No, just ten & a pedal. (:

  • @Strudelika you must use the pedal for the left hand, I think

  • @Strudelika u need a piano for this(not keyboard), and skill :p

  • @Strudelika it's all the pedal =)

  • @Strudelika I think if you use a real piano you push that bar that makes the sound last longer.

  • @Strudelika no. you only need 10 and the pedal.

  • @Strudelika: Haha... It's either that, or you can use the sustain pedal =D

  • @Strudelika Aww i remember reading this ages ago and agreeing, i realised a few weeks ago that you're apparently just supposed to use the pedal on the bits which seem like extra hands are needed.. i can actually play it [well at half speed] - have you tried Hugh Sungs videos... he goes through the measures step by step, its great if you're a beginner ad need help with finger placement

  • @Strudelika All you need is sostenuto pedal (middle) ))

  • @Strudelika That's true that 14 fingers would sometimes be needed, but actually you just have to play 2 or 4 thingies and then use the pedal to play the others ;)

[dunno if I'm clear, sorry English is not my mother tongue .. ]

  • @Strudelika i guess 2 poeple will play this??

  • this is not fast

  • Ohohohoh play it and see if you want to say that... I'm not even at the ridiculous part yet and I've practiced this for at least 15 hours since 2 days ago when I started. I'm pretty sure I will never be able to play this piece even if I spend years on it...

  • @jasonkim112 dude im telling you, its not fast i know how to play this song
