Sarajevo: A Street Under Siege 2

i just visited Sarajevo for the first time. It is incredible that the city was under siege for so long with little help..in this day and age. Such brave people.

Crazy how everybody runs across the street hoping not to get picked off. I live in America and can't believe we let this go on for so long. At the time I was only about 9 years old so I wasn't looking beyond my own little world or thinking about the bigger picture. Now that I'm older and watching this it makes me pretty sick. This reminds me of something out of WWII not modern times. But don't hate on USA, lot's of us have compassion for you all out there.

This is heartbreaking to watch. We had giant organisations like NATO and the EU literally on the doorstep of this nightmare and we did nothing for two years. Shame on us all.

Having said that, I have a friend from Bosnia who lost his father at Srebrenica. He was smuggled out aged 15 by a British schoolteacher (whom I also know) in a tanker lorry . So maybe not quite everyone need be ashamed. Not quite.

@ludocrat not to hate on anyone but Europe and the world let this go on for more then 2 years but till 1995..Remember Srebrenica happend in 1995 under the NATO AND UN...Me as a Bosnian Muslim i dont blame the USA becouse this was in EUROPE and Under the nose of EUROPEANS this happened..Bosnia has been inhabited long before alot of other European countries and it will be here After..I Just blame the Leaders of the World for not even letting us get a chance to defend our self in the begining

This all started when Tito died and then Jugoslavija got messed up ! thats when war started ! if Tito was still in control this would have never happened . Zivijo Joseph Broz Tito <3 Im Bosnian and i will never forget this .

This war was started by a bunch power hungry bastards who used enthic hatred and nationalistic ideas to start a war to fight over yugoslavia. The UN stood by and did nothing because it did not want to take take sides. This is not like in the gulf war where Iraq was clearly the bad guys.

And also the rules for peace keeping (Stupid Rules) do not allowed UN forces to declare war on anyone (can not attack and take towns, cannot bomb anyone etc). UN forces is actually quite useless.

I was too young to understand what really was going on back then but now I can't understand that the whole of Europe stood there and did nothing...what a shame.

It was a shameful political decision from Europe and indeed shame on them because they let the innocent die. This was not a real war, it was a coward hunt of the defenceless. And the big mouthed UN stood by ... sometimes even took off to save themselves and allow people to be butchered.

Religion, Politics, Ethniticy and Power have always been an EXCUSE for kiling people. Why does the human race enjoy death SO much. Some of these war criminals now live in my country with political asylum. It's wrong, the U.K. took so long to do anything about the war when it was happening (no oil) but now we shelter the criminals that took part in it!!!!

I just hope the Serbians will get once what they deserve, they atacked, Croatia, they atacked BOsnia and many others even kosovo, however the UN woke up and thought that it might be better to help them Kosovos. The years 1989 and forward to 1993 and even up, where again war Years in many countries. Like from the Fall of the Berlin War in 1989, then the revolutions in the comunist countries (Hungary, and so on), and the Serbians too, the war with them, and the Gulf war, i gues. WAR is always.
