I was doing 4 or so sets of these in my back workout but now I've decided to integrate them into my backwork sort of like a warmup, eg:
2-3 sets of wide-grip pullups
4 sets of lat pulldowns
Yes they are a very similar exercise BUT when doing a pullup you have to control your weight on the weigh down, whereas on the lat pulldown you're controlling the weight as it goes upwards.
If you can't get sore lats, since changing my workout to include both in this way my lats are sore as we speak.
i can only do 6 reps with a wide grip.

ckranez, yes the wider you go the more beneficial for your lats, like jseth said... i make sure i get in 10 sets of 7 of these every-other-day...

hey um what if u go wider then that?... will that be more beneficial or not? like where u would place your grips on the end of the handles...

the closer you go the more the execise focuses on your triceps, so I can only assume the wider you go the more focus on your lats.
