  • The Calcobrena song is really creepy! Especially with the words they say.

  • Super Metroid was an amazing game. I still have my old SNES cartridge, and I still play it. :)

  • i sacarried as kid to at #9

    I FUCKING HATE THIS SONG

  • @TheJazzer94 Oh, Right i forgot.

  • #9 isn't creepy...

  • You forgot Lavender Town... Anyways, ill not like to hear that song with headphones... i will DIE!!! XD

  • @rock1stfan SNES songs....

  • Yay! Secret of Mana made it twice! Woo-wee!

  • broooo that picture you used with link to the past really visualized the creepiness going into the dungeon

  • Also, to add to your number 1 pick.

It's something that I would see ruined if they'd try to do it with a full orchestra or anywhere near that.

A lot of those instruments utilized and at the quality they were registered sound like... well, equipment, signal, sounds that would occur in a sci fi space area. It's not just a song, a musical piece, it's an atmospheric composition of noise that reminds you of emergency signals, of life support system bleeping, of a scene of desolation from invasion.

  • I hope you've beaten Earthbound by now because let me tell you.

Add this to the animation going in the last battle and prepare to piss your pants.

  • I think that Northern Hemispheres theme is more sad than creepy.

  • I.F.E.E.L.H.A.P.P.Y

  • A great list. I found the Earthbound one to be particularly disturbing...breathing and a tune like that is freaky to me. Metroid also has some seriously creepy tunes.

  • giygas' theme freaks me out

  • Gotta say, I loved this list... but I would like to tell people there is another song that IMO is scary too, ladies and gentlemen...

    v=xR5dgnw60-s

  • #3 isn't creepy. It's just plain EPIC.

  • Genesis Does What Nintendon't.

  • @TeamRocketReviews Except when it comes the the ultra-shitty Genesis sound processor. And lacking game library.

  • @itsalloverforyou12 Lacking? The SNES came out in 1991. Pretty much 75% of good SNES games came out after 1994. In between those years, the Genesis was kicking ass. The sound processor for the Genesis sounds great on other systems, like the Adlib/Soundblaster sound card for the PC. The games that are on Genesis but not SNES are what make the Genesis the best, but the games that are on both, such as Street Fighter II, are better on SNES.

  • Chrono Trigger aside - you nailed some good ones on this list. Oh but you totally failed with that Donkey Kong one; it wasn't spooky at all but it was nice to hear.

  • 1:08 sounds like freaking FireRed/LeafGreen Lavender Town!

  • I'm agree with you. I liked those games too.

  • I remember when i was 8 years old, i used to play Super metroid at 2am

  • I have to admit if I was walking at night and #9 Sanctuary started playing in the wind id piss myself

  • Love the musics!!!!

  • you did good choices!! but you forgot Chrono Trigger the 2300 AD theme (don't know the name) it's pure desolation, like there's no hope for anything, very well done for the atmosphere that the people on the domes there show you.

  • The earthbound final boss song and final boss fight in general was supposed to have been inspired by a movie rape scene that the creator saw when he was a kid. This ended up traumatizing him. Creepy backstory to a creepy song.

  • Ten and nine are soooooooo the scariest. I heard them last night in my head....bwahahhahaha

  • Nope. Search for "Terranigma OST - Wandering Souls"

This part of the game threw me off guard and freaked me out constantly because of the zombies and the fact that I didn't expect it and thus didn't bring enough healing..

  • #7 Creepy......but cheap as fuck

  • The Lunarians from FFIV really doesn't give off a creepy feel in my opinion, it has more of an mystic ancient touch to it, like discovering something long long forgotten... something forgotten and beautiful, something that hasn't been affected by the hardships of time

  • I don't find #3 scary, it sounds epic.

  • I love Northern Hemispheres. I sometimes play the level just to hear the music and see the snow falling thicker and thicker, so coool :).

I feel happily nerdy, I know every song on that list :D

  • how did you forget Demons Crest songs ??

  • @Bitlandia like most castlevania songs, are very great but not creepy. maybe the ending song

  • I still remember the Zelda temple stage always freaked me out with that music when i was young , but i loved the feeling, i stayed on the game till the snes plug burnt out XD

  • lol if this is creepy dont listen to music by coil or nurse with wound

  • Earthbound: scary shit for a kid. Ceremony reminds me of the nightmarish moments in Akira for some reason (has a similar haunting theme). The Lunarian theme isn't that spooky, I always thought that was "spacey". Anything more abstract, dischorded, or atonal always sets the right mood.

  • Missed songs, in my opinion:

    > Nosferatu - Stage 1 Theme

    > Killer Instinct - Spinal Theme

    > Nosferatu - Boss Theme

    > Donkey Kong 2 - Haunted Hall

    > Super Metroid - Mysterious Statue Chamber

    > Super Metroid - Brinstar Red Soil

    > Batman Returns - Stage 2 Theme

  • im thinking when nintendo had so many limitations they brought their creativity to the full extent. music wise/gameplay/ story/ and all in general. the big screw up with the wii is that they com out with shit games like the bachelor game. WHO THE HELL WANTS TO PLAY THAT? anyone else agree?

  • the lunarians was a bad ass tune, lonesome, like the moon we were on.

  • 0:00 Perfect for a zombie movie!!!

  • I like your commentary. It's thoughtful and kind of dead-on. I never thought about a lot of what you said, but it's true!

  • I always liked the Lunarian theme from ff4. It sounds like quiet epicness.

  • No clock tower?

  • Where is Tier 1-2 Kefka's theme from FF6 or Lavos's theme from Chrono Trigger on this list? o___o

  • Mmm, I love the Metroid OST, as well as the game, even if I could never beat it.

  • Zelda III's (that's my abbrev.; deal with it) sanctuary music always seemed creepy to me. For a good church scene melody, check out the one from Lagoon (the music is really the only selling factor of that Zelda-wannabe).

  • This series of songs blows my mind. You take out all the random sound effects from things like Donkey Kong Country or Link to the Past and suddenly you have something that makes your heart catch and won't let you tear your eyes away from the picture in the video for fear there will be something just outside the realm of your vision.

  • the metriod songs not creepy

  • Magus's Castle from Chrono Trigger would make a fine addition, but a great list nonetheless!

  • I always thought the Sanctuary theme from A Link to the Past was very beautiful piece of music but great video btw!

  • You forgot the Metroid crying in the background

  • Very accurate top10, but i kinda disagree with Top1, I find it more mysterious than creepy.

The game Famicom Tantei Club 2 (Famicom detective club 2) also has some really disturbing songs :D and maybe Clock Tower.. but both games are very less known..

Both SoM songs are really awefully disturbing! xD But i like them a lot : )

  • Dear god, this list is so accurate. Sanctuary, Light World Dungeon, The Lunarians, Super Metroid Title

  • "I would have ranked this higher, except it sounds too badass to be super scary"

    Made my day :D

What if you'd only taken the gongs at the start?^^

  • 10: Eerie. 9: Kind of weird, but reminds me of Goof Troop when you're in the dark caves... 8: Intimidating. 7: Calliope just scares me in general XD 6: Classic. 5: OH GOD, NO... 4: Just plain creepy. 3: I think it's the echo that does it for me... 2: Honestly sounds a little too happy. 1: Very atmospheric, but not deserving of the number one spot. All in all, it's a pretty good list. I understand it's your personal choices, so I won't blather on about what should or shouldn't have been added.
  • Most of these shouldn't have been in this top ten

  • What the hell is that thing in the thumbnail of the feature video? It looks too graphic to be allowed in Youtube.

  • I love how modern horror music is pretty cliche to everyone, but the classic SNES and some PSone soundtracks still creep people out.

  • Man, that snow level ... the music and the atmosphere was just perfect ... but those damned barrels ... those damned barrels!!!!

  • REALLY GOOD LIST! unlike that other dude who made a list with ONLY songs from different RPG games.

  • Very well put-together, I love your comments too haha :D

  • I think the sunken ship theme from super metroid should have been in here it once gave me nightmares.

  • nice list i would of switched a few but overall great job!

  • Great list!

  • Interesting~~ I never played all the games myself but the songs in this video are really really interesting!

  • The oracle is so fun xD

When I replayed the game last year my sister said "hey, look! You are fighting someone who is moving like shakira!"

    And my sister was right

  • #4 Ceremony - Secret of Mana is Gamelan music from Indonesia!! :)

  • 10 yes that is just creepy! 9 ooh sounds like a worped record playing backwards in some 30's caf'e 8 err not liking it sounds cool but ahhh 7 sounds like the boo's merry go round but more argh! 6 has no music but feels like somethings watching you 5 the wind 4 o.O WTF? 3 any dougen is creepy this is ober creepy 2 creepy! 1 just sounds creepy great vid

  • should have added a demon's crest song!!!!!!!

  • Holy shit this stuff brings back memories, especially the Secret of Mana bits. Thanks for posting!

  • dark lich theme pawned me. that was so awesome!

  • #3 Light world dungon music: I picture being an a HUGE beautiful but evil Mansion.

  • 10# 0:00 Donkey Kong Country / Nothern Hemispheres 9# 1:08 The Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past / Sanctuary 8# 1:48 Secret of Mana / Oracle 7# 2:31 Final Fantasy 4 / Dancing Calcobrena 6# 3:02 Super Metroïd / Arrival on Crateria 5# 3:52 Final Battle / Earthbound 4# 4:41 Secret of Mana / Ceremony 3# 5:30 The Legend of Zelda : A link to the Past / Light World Dungeon 2# 6:22 Final Fantasy 4 / The Lunarians 1# 7:36 Super Metroïd / Title Theme Thumbs up for all see!
  • amazing choices :D i totally agree i with u ... :D sanctuary and the super metroid theme are not olny creepy they have something epic in it

  • fantastic video, awesome captions, MOAR

  • final fantasy 4 wasnt on snes was it?

  • @mstrkrft2 Yes but they renamed it as "Final Fantasy II".

  • Great list man, thanks.

  • god so freaking retard no one can be scared like that xD

  • Oh... Deep zombies... Shut up... -_-

  • Nice compilation bestsnesmusic, thanks for sharing.

  • you should check Terranigma - The Gaia Stone

    ID 4Rin2GFvbyI

  • Comment removed

  • theres a zombie theme from Terranigma i think you should see that :D

  • i think your a kid why you post donkey kong's hemisphere song it's not scary at all lol

  • @unitedoverload2

I'm 28.. and it is kinda creepy

  • @usagi18 very un good man this your saying is not good for a 20+ year olds

  • @unitedoverload2

Being creepy doesn't mean it is not good... I actually like it very much.

  • @usagi18 yep me 2 & to think tbe creppy sounds is not good it's acually suudes the mood NOTE:sorry for my bad english

  • donkey kong isn't creepy i love that theme

  • 6:64, that song isn't creepy!! it's beautiful

  • suprised trail of blood isnt on here.

  • @serarblem123 That's because Final Fantasy 7 is a PS1 game. This list is only SNES games. Unless you're talking about another song titled Trail of Blood from a different game.

  • @85ihateposeurs -facepalm- my bad, but seeing all those RPGs made me think of that spontaneously lol.

  • I always thought the ghost town in terranigma had the scariest music.

  • good chioce

but you forget Secret of Evermore -.-

  • Cool you mentioned the light world dungeon song from zelda a link to the past. Now I remember how I used to be scared of that too as a kid. Actually just in the first of three dungeon at the very beginning I was scared of those weird cyclops statues just standing there and staring at me. Dunno why, but combined with that music it scared me :P

  • Nice list, though I'm surprised maridia from super metroid wasn't here.

  • ,,, Well, I guess you never played Secret of Evermore....

  • The Lich song from SoM is a straight raver tune.

  • I think the title theme to Ballz 3D should be on this list.

  • no doom???

  • @KH1523 Doom isn't creepy.

  • @TheCaptiannaitpac

hehe maybe but i recall being freaked/creeped out back then...

  • what game is number two

  • @5tocks TLOZ: A Link To The Past

  • Strange. Your number two song used to help me sleep at night. XD I guess I'm just creepy like that I suppose.

  • @XAeonWOLFKINGX It sounds almost melancholy.

  • @Otakuman123 It is kinda relaxing to me but like I said before it's probably just because I am creepy like that.

  • @XAeonWOLFKINGX You know what? You are kinda right. It sounds somewhat relaxing.

  • Very interesting video. I appreciate the personal comments, but some are too long to read without pausing >_> (also, 'creepiness').

  • Donkey Kong country, have the most creepiest songs..you have described those song really well, makes me wanna hear all of them

  • Good list!!

  • i've never once thought of # 3 as a scary song before o-o, but i guess i can see why you would say that

  • Rare. The best game maker ever

  • @GrounderTheRobot That's why they're called Rare... because gaming companies like them are very rare xD

  • Awesome selection!

i thought i would hear the (correct me if im wrong) Semi-boss music from Super Metroid...like the one where ur fighting that plant thing, now THAT creeped me out! lol

  • Another excelent selection

  • Lack of Super Castlevania IV music is disturbing.

  • Great choices. I'd have put Giygas at #1.

  • Where can I find a copy of the Oracle one?

  • GREAT LIST!

  • These lists are pretty legit.

  • Good pick on the sanctuary theme for Z3. I recently replayed that game some... I always assumed I was the only person on earth who was unsettled by that music! Also, Calcabrina ... that theme haunted me for years, but in a good way. As soon as that fight started and that theme continued playing I knew this was going to be a serious fight.

  • Oh god.. frikken #4. i was a little kid when i played that game and freaked the fuck out at that part cause of the music and zombies

  • I agree with the arrival to crateria music. That freaked me out the first time I heard it. It didn't help that I was alone in my basement at the time, but it's still freaky.

  • In my opinion, the second secret of mana song is my no.1.

But good list non the less my friend!

  • i agree with number 1 !!!!

  • For some reason while I was watching this I kept thinking "I bet #1 is going to be the music played in Magus' Castle in Chrono Trigger"

  • If you ever make another video like this you should have the wrecked ship theme from Super Metroid before the power is restored that always gave me a feeling like I wasn't alone.

  • Where did you get the artwork for the Children of Lunaria? It's incredibly chilling and nostalgic... but I can't find it anywhere. :(

  • 2 isn't even creepy, but more calming for me

  • Thank God people still remember those wonderful songs from Final Fantasy IV... it was such a masterpiece. Great picks! And thanks for including "Ceremony" as well.

  • @AMcGrath82 great ''picks''?? oh god you remembered me on Pickles, now i want to eat one, but i dont got one ^^ xDDD AND i agree with you 100%!!

  • cool list and nice commentary, I haven't played most of these and now I don't want to lol. JK feels like I step in your shoes and played those parts tho

  • number two isn't scary at all though...

  • I hate how people refer to Tubular Bells as "the exorcist theme". It's a shame how people these days are missing out on classics like it.

  • SUPER METROID WAS FIRST :D ....

  • clock tower is missing here

  • the sanctuary is kinda of a spooky place...wasn't it surrounded by a cemetery anyway?

but the scariest theme from super metroid has to be from when you go into the abandoned ship and fight ghosts...then you turn the power on and everything is fine and dandy lol

  • the sanctuary is kinda of a spooky place...wasn't it surrounded by a cemetery anyway?

  • #8 is too kick ass to be scary.

  • I remember playing flaccid phallic madness 3 (FPM3) on the snes when I was a kid, man that game had some creepy music

  • i like metroid

  • Damn, Confusing Melody or Lavos' Theme should have been on there. Still some cool picks yo.

  • i meant #9 zelda shit

  • #8 is disturbing as fuck

  • Good list, not sure about the order. You've obviously never played Eye of the Beholder though.

  • #4 ceremony, should be number 1

  • I expected there to be some chrono trigger tunes hmm.

  • @kralle333 or secret of mana

  • I couldn't agree more with your line up of songs. And yes, I do believe #1 was a very easy choice :P Super Metroid's soundtrack is by far one of the best I have ever heard from a video game. They just made the songs fit right, you know?

  • Shoulda picked mother brain for number 1

  • Oh lord...Giygas......i just wet myself.

  • Yes yes, that diminished fifth...

  • Needs more Gyigas battle music

  • My creepiest song of all. The shadow dungeon in the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. First off an invisible purple dust attacking the village, and it is located in the back of a graveyard, making me feel like Link was buried alive. Then the background music! Chanting, I haven't heard it in a while and it still freaks me out!

  • creepy, but i also loved theese songs :)

  • Man why isnt metroid, lower norfair in here or Maridia Sandy desert, dam i hate that last one , played Metroid when i was 8 years, im 20 now and dam i hate it still!

  • Goosebumps throughout the whole video.

  • 10 really is creepy, you just have to see a white out

you just have to be in a white out

first its just a white flim of snow but then it thickens

then you start thinking wait..how the hell am i gonna get back home at like 0:52

its more awesome than you tthink

  • number ten is kinda creepy,in my opinion.

  • @LeBasser01 it fits the freezing location, like an isolated area that donky kong must traverse with little hope to survive the white paranoia.

  • I like your choice.

My number one Creepy SNES music is Castlevania 4.

The music in the intro scene and just before Dracula.

  • 8:00-8:03 HOLY CRAP

  • the FF4 music, I actually found it to be touching. To me it's the sound of a sincere truth being revealed and the realization of one's Destiny. as the music goes on it's like darkness being washed away to reveal light, it's feint but it's there

  • dolls are creepy

  • Dude I always thought exactly the same thing about the Sanctuary theme from ALttP

  • Great list
