  • I'm not here to post any comments at all. I'm here to enjoy the incredible music of a lady whose voice I've been in love with ever since the first time I ever heard it!

  • I have been in love with Linda for years .Linda , I wish you would find this note.Adam Mitchel was my old friend and yours. Since the Stone Ponies I have been a fan like so many others ,then when you did that stint on TV with "Its been a long time" totally great. I guess I'll will just grow old with the dream of thanking you for so much great loving music. Jim Web must agree with this . Dave Nicol

  • Not one of my favorite songs by Linda but no matter, she is still AMAZING!!!

  • She started so young and so well. I fell in love with her voice in high school and didn't know who I was listening to. Few songs out there are as hauntingly beautiful as Blue Train. She could take any mundane jingle and make it glitter with those silky smooth tones only she possesses. I'd love to perform with her, just to have the honor. Are you listening Linda? I've written a couple you'd immortalize if you'd do them. I hope she continues recording treasures like this one!

  • I think that her voice is still fantastic.I have been listening to her since the late '60's.She still looks fantastic.Bless her.

  • LINDA IS A TREASURE, THERE IS NO DEBATING THAT, Her vocal talent is really unmatched for many years

  • what a wonderful song !!!!

  • If you have facebook look up the page to get Linda in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! :-)

  • Perfection!

  • I love this song! This is a track from what I think is one of her best albums

  • She seems just fine here to me.

  • Why are people so damned wrapped up on other's appearence???? She has and still does have one of the finest voices put on this planet. She is one of the few "REAL" singers left, like Judy Collins, Joan Baez, Barbra Streisand. The young performers do not hold a candle to these singers. This is what real singing is all about.

  • Compare with the same song by Maura O'Connell w/ James Grant & Nanci Griffith

No doubt Ronstadt has a great talent, but she has competition.

  • i cant get enough linda!!!!!!

  • I was just listening to this song and album...one of the most beautiful songs she has ever performed, IMO.

  • This beautiful Tom Kimmel/Jennifer Kimble song was first heard on radio thanks to Linda. I love this version, but also check out Maura O'Connell's version which I think was recorded before Linda's. Like Flars9 I loved LR from the beginning-Stone Ponies, by herself and Trio as well. I hope to see her live again.

  • Very pretty---doesn't she still perform (by choice)? I seem to remember a few years ago, she had a concert in Los Angeles.

I heard she has young children, so perhaps she is concentrating on them at this time in her life.

  • Linda still performs quite a bit. She still does tours, though the last year or so she has taken a well deserved break. But rest assured, Linda is far from retired.

  • Thanks for the info! I'm thinking back to the first time I heard her, when she was with Stone Pony--1960's, "Different Drum". Powerful voice!

  • Linda's voice is like a reliable friend, one that you can count on for quality and the kindling of memories. Feels Like Home was an underrated album but for me was 'wall to wall' great!

  • Sadly she no more,i pretty sure she retire from singing.I think no other female can sing like she can.

  • I lovw this song and never understood why it and the album were not a bigger success - it's a much undiscovered Rondtadt treasure.

  • @marcm1210 I agree; it's a beautiful record, some of the best stuff Linda ever did. But it was 1995 when people were obsessed with grunge and music that was full of anger and self-loathing.

  • Thank you so much for this great posting of a great talent and such a beautiful song that takes me back to a time of a love that I had once and now is gone ...........thank you thank you.........!!!!!..

  • A very beautiful song :)

  • alstl04:

I saw her a few years ago w/ the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Pops series, and she was incredible (I was on the front row!). A symphony appearance is probably your best bet. Hope it works out!

  • the voice that has affected me like no other.

  • I wish she would go on tour, I'd love to see her live.

  • Love it, She is the one and no one will be like her.

Thank you for posting such great song

  • i stumbled across this song by accident, looking for obscure Dolly Parton songs, The trio version is basically the same with dolly and emmylou adding haunting backings. TRIO II is one of the best cds EVER made, ALL three ladies really shine and the song selections are pure genius. a true gift from heaven. if havent heard it all, you have no idea what ur missing!

  • Linda Ronstadt is one of the best vocalists of our time ~ that being said, I am not personally a big fan ...

however, she NAILS this song & it is, perhaps, my favorite of hers.

  • Another lost gem found! Thank you:)

  • My fave song of hers. <3

Thank you for posting it. :-)

  • This is one of my favourite tracks Linda has recorded. This version is beautiful, thanks for sharing. Such a talented lady.

  • Firstly can I thank you about decision to delete trash etc. There is always a place for constructive criticism but not some of the idiotic and sometimes defamatory comments that some idiots think is clever.

Off my soapbox and back to Linda, she is without a doubt one of the best female singers around today, she is actually my favourite female vocalist. One of her many great songs sung by a great singer.

  • This album brings me bitter sweet memories. I love it.

  • Thanks for posting SqueezeThis. I love this song and indeed the whole album that it comes from, especially The Waiting.

  • thank you for posting this - chills!

  • Nice One!!!

  • My favorite song from that album, beautiful song and beautifully done!

  • love this song , i play the album track all time thanks for posting

  • Great version.....Checkout Maura O'Connell who first sang it BRILLIANT

  • I can'r believe it . Here I have been a Linda Ronstadt fan and I really stopped listening to her stuff after 1984. This is great !!! I have to listen to more of her after 84

  • @Beatlesrfab You just said a mouthful!!!!!

  • thanks, love her singing

  • SqueezeThis thanks for the upload, this puppy smokes from inro to outro and every By God where in between! IIf only from the standpoint of longevity, one can do nothing but admire Linda, plus her taste for material is uncannily impeccable, and her following of incredible musicians is never ending, long may she run! Thanks also, as always, to You Tube for the available cyber space, kudos to the aforementioned SqueezeThis for taking the precious time to post this nugget! Also: ROCK ON SHINDIGGERS!

  • I'm so glad somebody posted this song here. She's such a powerful singer, part of that power comes from her control. She proves that just because a song is sung gently, it doesn't mean it's not without strength!!!

  • I luv Linda ever since I can remeber and she still beautiful and luv her now more than ever. BDH

Thank you, Senora Linda Rondstad.

  • Interesting. To judge a singer by the range or exact pitch of the notes seems somewhat akin to judging a wine by its alcoholic content. One could do it, but another person might think that rather pointless. Also, this appearance is shortly after Linda contracted her thyroid disease that almost killed her and causes her weight gain. Also, would similar criticisms of her singing would be made on videos of Ms Ronstadt's versions of "Poor Wandering One", "Ooo, Baby, Baby", or others.

  • You have every right to your musical opinion, but the string of malapropisms in your comment makes you come across as more pompous than credible (how's that for a string of ten dollar words?). It sounds as though you just took an SAT prep course but didn't quite get the gist of all the definitions in the vocabulary list. Word to the wise: dressing up an opinion in high-tone verbiage doesn't make the opinion more valid, especially when the words are misused.

  • By the way, my reply was meant for trumpeter93's comment starting "Well that may be true..." It wasn't addressed at spide429! Somehow, it didn't end up under trumpeter93's original comment.

  • The version with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton off of the

"Trio" cd is unbelievably gorgeous. Here Linda shines in a solo that enumerates her incredible gifts....Listen to both and all of you naysayers will realize how wrong you are!

  • absolutely agreed. The Trio version is awfully good.

  • You are not even in her league as a fellow musician....why can't you get that!...lol.

  • What makes you think that you have the knowledge and experience to deduce that conclusion?

  • Well lets see.....Linda is a legend....has had many top hits...has sang many differernt types of music...has endured the test of time...has sang with many legends...and who are you again!

  • Well....according to your language that you choose to use it just shows that you have no judgement at all...your opinion really means nothing...learn to talk and we will debate.

  • yeah i also agree with trump93 and that destruc guy. She is kindof not "soothing" as some of you say. Some of you may not be able to tell because you may not have as developed ears as most musicians have because they need to b able to hear a perfect pitch in order to tune and stuff. Mot, like myself practice for hours just listening to perfect pitches.

  • Well...keep practicing...because you obviously do not have the "ear" thing down yet. I can definately tell perfect pitch...I am also a singer but do not claim to be more than I am...so go practice..hope it eventually helps.

  • put a metronome to it, GOOD GRIEF SON you better go back to school!!! LET the music flow, this is not computer music!!

  • Also you said you don't claim to be more than you are, so not to offend, but your judgement isn't valid enough for me

  • LOL...If my judgement isn't valid...why in the hell are you still fighting about this. You need to get over yourself and realize...she is the star...you are not.

  • My conclusion: you can't judge or make a harsh comment about some1's opinions unless you have experience yourself. Period. I assume that trumpeter93 does and i can also hear her mistakes and it is not that unnoticable to us both. You can't talk back about any1 else's opinions unless your musically trained

  • trumpeter93, How many hit songs have you had? How many grammy awards have you won? How many records have you sold? How many concerts have you sold out?

If you have taken the time to listen to Linda's entire body of work you would know how immensley talented and accomplished she is. I thing your subjectivity is clouding your logic.

  • Also she does stay in one octave the whole song and i keep listening to this waiting for a key change which implies the refrain again, but she does not show any "power" in her songs and it doesn't give you the feeling of "power" when she says "blue train" it would be more impressive to change octaves into the upper register, which she tricks you into thinking, but then she just goes back down the same 8 notes the song represents which ultimately determine a boring singer to listen to.

  • To those who say that Linda's vocal is not quite up to par here, let's keep in mind that she did this performance at 7 o'clock in the morning. Think about that, wake up, clear your throat, go to the studio and try to sing like you have had hours to prepare.

All that considered, I still find this particular performance very sweet. Even when she isn't at her best, she is still light years above so many.

    Miley Cyrus, anyone?

  • I agree that the studio version is much better than this live performance, but even the studio version could not touch the live performance of this song by Linda that I saw at Radio City Music Hall many years ago. It just gave me chills up and down my spine, and was one of the most incredible live performances of a song I ever heard. God, how I wish that someone was able to capture that on audio and video. Absolutely stunning.

  • The studio version of this beautiful song is exquisite...unfortunately this version doesn't really do it justice.

  • i really don't see what is so special about her voice, like signing the same octave the whole song and she sounds flat when the musicians aren't playing her part

  • Sorry...you had best get your ears checked...lol..I think you have something seriously wrong with them. She is awesome and her range is beyond fabulous! But..hey...if you don't hear it....that is ok..you just miss the greatness in her voice.

  • i am a professional musician singer and player and i do believe that i hear nothing special about her voice at all ( i also play, sing in the New York Philharmonic Band and Choir

  • There are alot of proffesion musicians who "think" they are good...but the truth is...they aren't. I am sure your New York Philahomonic Band and Choir is quite...well..."Boring". That stuff bores me to tears...and it is good that you have a number of people to help each other sound good. But if you were to try to front an act..well...I am sure it would be interesting. So...you being a professional...does not impress me.

  • I admire your opinion and if you still think that i am not professional, check my band and choir on youtube. This song is still not very impressive to me. Her singing reminds me of a computer playing back the notes of a song. Although, they are accurate, they do not show a certain feeling of style or emotion. She sings as if she is forced to rather than wanting to and like she doesn't care.

  • She is one of the all time best singers in the world. She has a vocal range that is terrific and hard to top!! Thanks for sharing this video.

  • Wonderful song sung by one of, if not the best female vocalist of of the past half century.

  • I have to praise Linda for not selling out for the sake of a hit record. She has kept all of her integrity thru the years - and as anyone who reads the covers of the "Rags" while in the check out line can attest - keeping your integrity intact nowdays is impossilbe (even for a successful career that spans only a couple of years) but to do it for many, many years is quite an accomplishment. With Linda that place inside her where the music comes from has never changed - I hope it never does.

  • I Love this song . I have"nt heard it for a long time ...

  • Well I was looking for the Coltrane standard but I must say this: Anyone else think the intro of this song sounds pretty close to the intro of the theme song to the show Seventh Heaven?

  • Thank U

  • This woman is a national treasure. It really doesn't matter what she looks like. When she was a kid she was physically sweet like many North American women and ya know what she grew older like we all do. She is still a beautiful woman and still sings better than anyone I know or care to know. She's a North American icon and always be. Anyone who disagrees really doesn't have a clue about what I'm talking about.

  • This is a beautiful song sung by a supurb voice..what the body from which that voice comes from looks like matters not we are all beautiful

  • Linda has had Hashimoto's Disease since a young age. On of the effects is unaccountable weight gain.

She refused to marry because she felt marrying outside her field (music industry) would result in certain divorce. The Hollywood syndrome. She never found anyone inside her field that she wanted to marry. So... The price of an extremely successful career....

  • No need for fans to explain why they like Linda - least of all to fruitcakes who get an orgasm every time someone responds to their nonsense.

  • You can Google Hashimoto's Disease. It is what she has.

  • Like Elvis, her gift to us all is her magnificent voice. I hope she continues to share it.

  • Yes i agree she has a magnificent voice:))

  • She did have a serious thyroid problem. I heard her major problem treating this was simply that the thyroid is located in the THROAT area. She felt she had a choice between dealing w/the thyroid problem directly &fixing the resulting weight problem OR risking damaging her voice thru throat surgery. I know which I'd choose. Anyway--JEEZUS, the woman is in her 50s and still lovely and brilliantly talented. Honestly, who gives a crap about her weight? Ppl are WAY too obsessed w/weight nowadays...

  • Actually, she's over 61. Born in 1947.

Maybe its just me, but I find her more attractive now than 35 years ago. Maybe I just love her voice.

  • Linda, one of the true singers, she is a queen!

  • A true singer of songs........

  • Sorry, but this song was written by Tom Kimmel and his then wife Jennifer Kimmel - not Chuck Pyle. Tom's a writer in Nashville and sings this song when he tours. Check out his CDs. Beautiful song.

  • you have your facts incorrect!

  • what show was this on?

  • At the end of the song it sounds like Bryant Gumble saying "Today Show on NBC."

  • Im 40 yrs old and have loved her music all my life. Sadly, we don't get to hear from her near enough! She is truly a legend and one of the Great ones.

  • I love Linda but I have to say that Maura O'Connell kicks her ass on this song. Sorry!

  • I am with you. The transatlantic session version is better though this is good.

  • Wonderful video, Linda has been a favorite of mine since childhood, and this is an excellent example as to why.

  • Chuck Pyle wrote this awesome song, I have been lucky enough to see him perform it. Linda does this song lots of justice. I love you Linda :)

  • all i have to say is this is my favorite LR song! i preferred the album version rather than the live. what a haunting song. every time i hear it, it sends shivers down my spine. an amazing song done by three gifted artists!

  • Truly The Greatest Female Vocals...

  • Linda belongs in the Rock N Roll Hall of fame!

  • I listened to the O'Connell version, but I like the Ronstadt w/Emmylou version better. It has a more haunting sound I like and I like the way they blend their voices as the song fades out with their voices mimicking a train horn when they extend the word "blue-ooh" over and over...but it's not done in this clip. Nice song either way!

  • I am sorry that this song did not crack the Top 40...for my money it is her best vocal performance..

  • I agree. Her most haunting vocal. I played this song over and over from the Trio album.

  • Just so very compelling and wistful, her eyes look a bit sad here, but LR is lovely, both inside and out.

    mm

  • Beautiful song. And Linda's hair looks so shiny and healthy here.

  • Great addition. I missed her here in Salt Lake 8/24/07. I have seen her live 3 times, one time in 1974 right in the front row at the U of Utah Ballroom. What a voice. What a hard working musician.

  • I love it! The best song ever recorded by Linda!

  • I agree, when this came out, I heard it coming over the radio one moonlit night and I felt a spiritual experience with this song. It is very melancholy!

  • Thank-you! This is my favourite song from both Trio II and Feels Like Home. The only thing missing was Emmylou's amazing voice. It's always a treat to see Linda Ronstadt perform. Thank-you.

  • Don't forget Dolly also sang backup on the outro!

  • Yes, but Dolly's track was not added on the version for Feels Like Home. Both versions are excellent, but I prefer the sound of the Linda and Emmylou only track.
