So, let me get this straight. We're supposed to remember that the culture and time was different when the Bible was written - so different, that what they found to be morally abhorrent is different from what we deem inappropriate today. But.. we're supposed to read this book and base our morals off what it says? Riiight.
Hey doesn't this mean we should stone all those politicians that are signing sneaky dirty laws into existence on Sundays .. you know the ones they sneak out because they don't want the public to know.
I think I'll have to start SPAKEing instead of speaking .. people listen more!
This just looks like another one of those transcribing/ copying/ translating errors that have been added to the bible by the hundreds of thousands over the last few thousand years.
By the best estimate of a dedicated theologian (that is someone with a religious degree BTW) there are more errors in the bible than there are words. He wrote a book called "Misquoting Jesus".
Actually, I think I know what the metaphorical meaning of "gathering sticks" means. It means masturbating. He was masturbating in the woods on the sabbath. Think about it.
So that burning bush that he goes to see .. does anyone else think this is a metaphorical way of saying he got REALLY high? I bet that bush is the best weed in the kingdom, and he didn't tell anyone where it was!
Go to leaf dot ly and try to figure out which one it was (Romping Goddess?). After you're done watching critiques of (mis)interpretations of badly recorded medieval metaphysical propaganda that have been tweaked for 2,000 years !
Fools! another exemple of falsehood and ignorance of the cultural contex. At the time, doing anything on the Sabbath was like commiting a homocide in certain states of America. it was a capital crime and the man was aware of it. Fools and liars
@rocha333 - "Whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." - Matthew 5:22
(Also, rocha333, did God change his mind on this rule? Cultural context means that man has changed a moral or value. Here, God ordered the man's death. So if it's okay now, it has to be one of two things: (1) God changed his mind or (2) People changed their mind and God didn't. Which is it?)
@43alley( "Whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." - Matthew 5:22) this means who use such words at random without cause, which is not my case. God Himself calls atheists fools for for failing seing what is in front of them.
God is the law giver, He decreed in the beginning of those who broke the Sabbath would be put to death. Everyone knew that, including the man who died.
I'm simply here to show people how stupid is the atheistic ideas on the Bible.
@rocha333 Why not go to one of the many, many xtian sites on youtube, with videos that are to your liking, and comment there? Surely there are thousands of pro-xtian sites where you can comment on xtian topics to like-minded ppl. Your over-strident xtian apologetics and rationalisations are pointless to ppl with rational minds. The words of the bible are often stupid, contradictory, immoral and, when taken seriously, funny and worthy of sarcasm. You are the one who appears "stupid" here.
@luvsbooks you have a rational mind, hahaha, you vcan't even stand 10 seconds with me talking about reason. How can you talk about rationality if God does not exist? there is no rationality in an universe created from NOTHING by blind chance. See my friend... you have been manipulated my Satan through evil men who dont care about you or your family.
@rocha333 Prove it. Lets see facts; concrete evidence that is testable and verifiable and you'll win over every athiest that lives.
Your irrational beliefs in god, satan, the words of a book full of contradictions have no basis in reality. Please provide proof.
Like many ignorant believers, you assume the opposite of your beliefs is "blind chance" b/c you have no understanding of evolutionary biology, archeology, geology, genetics or cosmology. Read something besides myths. Get an education.
@luvsbooks my friend you say that i have irrational belief in God, but you never stick to the my last post which is said there is no rationality in a reality created by nothing and by chance. Please don't run away from the topic, cos I'm not stupid. Moreover, I'm a student of arqueaology and religious studies at Birckbeck university of London. I'm really getting my education. I'm not a louse that live on people's heads. I use my God-given intelligence to reason.
@rocha333 OKEY, i will give you concrete and testable evidence for God's existence. First ask yourself what was the first cause for everything that exists - either the universe itself and everything in it? Second, How can everything that exists be complexably and perfectly designed even to the least parts? Please if this does not serve as evidence for a designing creator, then explain why not with absolute logic. waiting
@rocha333 - No matter the answer, even granting you every answer you want, you can get no farther than Deism (and not your particular God and your particular religion and denomination).
Here's a challenge to your challenge. Without citing your Holy Book, explain with, as you say, "absolute logic," why it was only one Creator and not two or three.
@43alley I can say the same thing about you, my friend. no matter the answer you can get no father than atheism. However, i will answer your question. Without using the Bible, I ended up as any other civilisation, in doubt if there was only one or more than one God, though not disproving the evidence for an eternal being who created everything, which is evident. But as we have the bible it's easier to know there is only one. Please answer my question above in my previous post if you are honest
@43alley what? i just explaine to you that the existence of an eternal being is evident either you dont know if there are one or more. Though civilizations did not know how to discribe God, they never denied their existence, which you unlogically do. No different civilization differ someone created everything. you are confusing things for the sake of the argument. You didn't even answer my question about what is the first cause of everything! if you don't answer is cos u dont know!
@43alley haha, when i encounter someone like you, who sustain crazy clains you dont even know what it is, I know more and more i am right. you can't even answer my question :) how can u be so deshonest to yourself? sorry my friend if you dont answer my question, i can't talk to u anymore. bye bye P:)
@rocha333 - Quick, go to amazon[dot]com as soon as you can. Buy a book on introductory philosophy and introductory cosmology. Any book. Get a used one. They are dirt cheap. Continue reading this post after you received them.
Ok, now ... read one paragraph of either of the books. Continue reading this post when finished.
Congratulations! You have multiplied your knowledge by 1000!!
Now go back to amazon and get some books on spelling and grammar.
@rocha333 I see nothing solid nor an equation that solves your assertion of a creator. If there's a creator who started everything, who/what created that creator? Effects must have a cause, you say. So who/what created your creator? Or did it come from "NOTHING"? If you state that your creator always existed then you're saying that cause-effect doesn't matter, yet you base your argument on cause-effect. If you say "nothing", then you're saying SOMETHING FROM NOTHING which isn't logical per you.
@luvsbooks you did not answer my question.. you are still talking about posterior events and changing the question which is not about God, but about what brought the first thing to exist. I'm still waiting for your answer, and dont think i will change the subject .... after u answer the question who created the first thing. we can carry on with who created God
@rocha333 Nature's complexity is factually described by genetics and natural selection under the unifying theory of biology - evolution. Your idea that "everything [is] perfectly designed" shows your ignorance. Why would a perfect creator give whales unusable pelvis and leg bones? Human's tail bones? How "perfect" is the esophagus? - a shared piece of plumbing for an airway and food conveyance to our stomachs? If it's perfect, why do ppl choke to death? You can't think of a better design? READ!
@luvsbooks all this get back tot he beginning, Who formulated the essence of genetics or biology?, if this is the case. :)
I already said that not all scientists believe in evolution with these ideas that parts of animal are useless, which makes it unreal until futher notice :)
@rocha333 Sweeping assertions about "blind chance" and a universe from "nothing" show that you're not versed in the science of cosmology. Adding content about supernatural beings (god, satan) doesn't help your case. You need to show that these things exist for your argument to have legs. You assert that there's a creator. That's a positive assertion that requires proof. I say you lack proof. That's my answer to your broad, unoriginal posts - prove there's a creator.
@luvsbooks Are you saying that all cosmologists believe that the universe came about from nothing? :) this is very funny..... Until you show me you basis that the universe came about from nothing, you cosmologist is but nonesense. Please start from the beginning. Another thing, Mr dawkins said he and no one know the answer for that : )
@rocha333 You are a sad, pathetic being. I looked at your page, you've been arguing your point-of-view unsuccessfully for over a year. You don't listen to what others have to say, or to evidence. You ramble on without any understanding of the nature of reality. You can't spell, your grammar is terrible, and it is a complete waste of time trying to explain the nature of reality to you. You have no proof of your assertions. You just make up things w/out addressing the points. I am done here.
@luvsbooks yeah, you better go without answering my question. I suppose you don't have the answer. Furthermore, you are running away because you met someone who don't roll with you disgraceful and insane ideas that EVERYTHING CAME ABOUT FROM NOTHING , 0 + 0 = 1, that's your math, amigo! you can go defeated as your friends have always done over the years, defeated and downcast...loser!
@rocha333 Your god doesn't exist. There's no more evidence for this psychopath than there is for Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny. I for one am glad of that. In the mean time, I think you're highly delusional and a danger to society. You should be civally comitted so that your fundamentalist nutcase ideas can't turn into actions that hurt other people.
@Newenlightenmentnow look hoe shallow and poor is your mind. What you hear from leading atheists you repeat here, like a stupid child. Santa Clouse o Easter Bunny...hehe these are the words of people without logical arguments. you guys are too weak to reason with me
@rocha333 Yes comparing your god to santa clause or the easter bunny is about right because there is just as much evidence for all three cases. I suppose the only difference is your nutcase god has sanctioned genocide, gangrape, to eternal torture and much more. You'd have to be a child to believe in your god, and it was clearly made up by horrible men like yourself to control society.
How is this lying. The video was exactly what happened in the Bible. It doesnt matter what people thought back then. Murdering someone because they were doing a small bit of tiny labor on a certain day is fucked up.
@PirateMonkeyFilmz THAT WAS THE LAW! and dont come here with small talk about a poor man working a small bit in order to move our pure hearts! I know the way you guys are. Deshonest when it comes to think reasonably.
@rocha333 lol you're essentially advocating atheists' argument that the bible IS NOT the word of god. MEN can change their minds about what is right and what is wrong, but GOD is not supposed to.
@MurgitaMiura advocating , what are you talking about? you are right God cannot change His mind when it comes to absolute truth. But He can change relative plans after sometime if this is included in His plans. What does this have to do with the subject? is that another atheistic trick to desviate the topic?
@rocha333 ahah "atheistic trick"?? It's just "using one's mind", no trick or whatever. Either killing a man for he is gathering sticks on saturday IS GOOD, so it should be done nowadays too, or IT IS BAD, so the the bible is wrong. God cannot "change his mind" (lol!) on such an issue. We are talking about torture and homicide here man!
@MurgitaMiura You should learn the Bible before accusing it without knowledge. Death to those who break The Sabbath should not used today because Jesus alread paid for our errors. Everytime someone in Jesus unintencionaly breaks a law, he has the blood of Christ that pays for his sins. Please Study more about that
@rocha333 ahahah is that the best you could come up with?? So you're telling me that if do something in a certain space-time coordinate which happen to be BC, then I'm righteously slaughtered and sent to hell. But if I do the SAME THING a bit later, say when the AD dummy is equal to 1, then it's fine and I can walk into heaven. IS THIS THE WAY YOUR GOD JUDGE SOULS??
@rocha333 So, yes or no, was God's command to stone someone to death for collecting sticks on the sabbath the JUST, FAIR, LOVING, KIND, or GOOD thing to do? Or was it just plain evil?
@rocha333 Absolutely amazing. So you're obviously an objectivist about morality. So what I'm getting from your reply is that it is up to your god to decide what is good. He decided it was right to murder a human being for collecting sticks on the sabbath, therefore it is good? Is that what you're saying?
@rocha333 SO how does this "cultural context" make a friggin difference.... or be a "lie" for that matter? You do realize that by your smug explanation, once gay marriage becomes legal in all states your god will no longer have any problem with gay people.
@roylinfordadams you're mesing the whole subjetc my friend, homosexualismo is wrong independent of culture or time. Because God Himself said so. Right and Wrong is absolutely in God's hands.
@rocha333 I notice that you didn't at all condemn the act. Do you think that the people of the village acted correctly? Do you really think that god ever wanted someone killed for gathering sticks on a certain day of the week? Is this a good example of christian morality?
@TheOmegadusk the people of that town was wrong and gathering stick on the sabbath day was a Sin against God and God Himself decreed that all those who disrespected His decreed should be put to death. the Bible does not give a clear statement what kind of man that was, all we know is that he broke the decreed of God. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
@rocha333 So the people of the town were wrong but they did what god had commanded. That people who gather sticks on the sabbath day should be executed? You can't be serious. I always work on the so-called "sabbath." Come and try and execute me.
@rocha333 Of course! I see, it's perfectly acceptable for copper age desert people to kill people for lifting things on sabbath. That's not why we mock you, though, is it? You think GOD wrote this stuff.
@rocha333 Do I give a shit if they thought it was ok or thought it was murder? Clearly killing a man for picking up sticks is immoral. Only a psychopath would think this is ok. If you think this is moral behavior then you should be comitted to a psychiatric ward.
Harsh punishments...a good set of stories about the true "glory" of god, his mercy, sadistic tendencies, and cruel nature. Is satan really any worse? When you consider all the stories and examples of the true nature of this supposed deity, you see that he is directly responsible for much death, cruelty, and suffering in that good (snort) book..
@johnwilkesbooth1865 A gathering of sticks means a gathering of men? If it were only that easy, lol. Well, I'm a woman, but I'd rather be a homo than an idiot.
Since my back yard is the woods, I guess my back yard is full of gays.
On the other hand, I notice how when they can't explain the idiocies in the bible, they always claim it's metaphoric. So if sticks are gays, what did Jesus mean when he said, "Let he who is free of sin throw the first stone"? Does stone translate to lesbians?
hahaha i remember i went to my grandmas house one time and i found her old bible and i randomly opened it up and i found this passage and i was like wtf? this is ridiculous our god would never do something so stupid!!!!! this was the beginning of me becoming an atheist
If I go to my big sister's house and I use her restroom even though she told me not to, that wouldn't be a big deal even though I shouldn't have disobeyed her. If I go to the US whitehouse and disobey the president's order to not use the restroom, I dersrve a few days in jail time because of who I disobeyed. How much more then should we be punished if we disobey the CREATOR of all heaven and Earth, and who made us and give us life. We deserve death if we disobey him.
you are talking about using the restroom.. your argument is completely wrong.. besides why the hell would the president ever say..NO you can't use the restroom in the white house.. i mean he could but then you can go on Fox news and call him a freaking prick.. but if god does it.. then he is showing you his love??? WTFF come on man!!!!..
@mmmodafoca It's not about how small he and his family is, but it's about how great God is. I'm so sinful sometimes, if feel as if God should kill me too. Are you now going to say I have a critically low self worth or esteem? Remember killing an animal for food seems like nothing to us, even if the animal did no evil to anyone or anything. That's because we are greater than them. How much more then it is OK for God, who made us, to kill us if we are evil.
@kjordon1 the only difference between other animals and us is that we have evolved differently. We are not "greater" just different
by you're logic someone going around raping and killing children is "greater" than them; whilst by my logic he/she is clearly delusional and sick-minded
@mmmodafoca You would probably pick up the sticks yourself and get killed. I am thinking about if the toilet is not working properly and if it is used, much feaces, urine and water would overflow and contaminate the restroom and you would spread it all over the house because you never concieved of this happening. Likewise God has great reasons to not break his laws. As a christian, I've come to learn some of those reasons. Besises he's God. We MUST respect his authority even in trivial things.
Try reading the bible with eyes that see instead of eyes that blindly worship and you'll see the truth.
It's a lie written by a bronze age culture who had no concept of science and didn't know any better.
They didn't have Stephen Hawking or Carl Sagan all they had were superstitious uneducated people which is why the bible is full of stupid things that make no sense.
These videos create a wider spiritual separation between true christians and atheists. It doesn't "enlighten" them to how "evil" God is, but how foolish and presumptuous man is. Stuff like this is read in my church many times and we don't go "Noooo, God is an EVIL son of a bitch. I hate him!" No, no. We only worship him all the more because it shows how holy he is that he doesn't like even "little and petty" sins.
@kjordon1 ..im like whaaaaat??? you worship someone who is freaking ADD??? why would you ever want to do that? and you are basically saying the man, whom you know nothing about, that got stoned to death isn't important.. his family and his friends don't matter to god.. did you not understand the video?? was it to difficult for you? seriously screw your god..
So if you see a man carrying sticks, bring him to your pastor. Your pastor will bring him to jail for unknown reasons. Then, he'll be released just to be stoned to death. This is fine, for he wasn't told to carry sticks.
the holy ghost came to me last night, (or maybe it was the tooth fairy, it was dark i couldn't tell for sure.) anyway he said in a deep echoing voice.
"go out and spread the word of BOB." BOB i said, he said "yes, spread the word of BOB." so i said "i'm ready, i'm ready." he said "that's perfect." then he disappeared back into the closet.. oh man, that;s one crazy ghost.

they stoned him cuz you cant work on the sabath. but didnt they work gathering the stones? how ridiculous can you get? anybody who believes this shit is whacked in the head.

@kenyarules11 It's not "hate" to any god or GOD! You summarise your complain in very simplistic way. What 43alley is doing is exposing the absurdities comprised in an ancient book we're supposed to take as a "moral" guide. There contained in the Bible are so-called "laws" that are very trivial--like in Deuteronomy 23:10, for example. Then there are many other laws in the Bible no one can deny they are so barbaric that not even the most devout Christian would approve much less act upon them.
oh my, I can hardly stop laughing at that last bit: "...they distract him while he is busy designing FABULOUS ensembles." I sometimes think religion is just an amazing (albeit cruel) prank god is playing on us.
@UltraComboer Yeah, that's an awesome lesson: don't gather sticks on sunday, or god will command that you be tortured to death (and then probably for eternity afterwards). god is so kind and loving!
@MaximusRelaximus Can you imagine if he were mending a fence or farming? They probably would've killed him on the spot. I don't see how gathering sticks counts as working. What if he needed them for a fire so he could stay warm and cook?
Everyone was aware of the punishment for breaching the Sabbath..the person picking up the wood must have been incredibly foolish or evil knowing if caught he would die. So what sent him on this suicide mission to collect wood......the answer is human sacrifice. The wood was obviously used to make fire and this was to burn a person, most likely a child. A common practice among people in surrounding areas at this time. And yes many similar evils were prevalent and little snakes grow into big snake
@smokeybirdman thats an interesting story, although, perhaps thoes little details should have been in the bible. As it's written, some dude went out playing with a few sticks, someone caught him and the town stoned the poor bastard.
@smokeybirdman a person is 'foolish' and 'evil' for picking up sticks? i'm sorry sir, but your mind has deteriorated beyond the point of return. we'll get you a nice white room to bounce around in though, don't you worry.
and plus wouldn't wood ALREADY be at the camps so everyone would have had some on the sabbath? I mean if this person knew what the law said he would have gotten wood waayyyy before the sabbath.well this is just a thought but I don't think this will be taken seriously and half of the ppl on here will think I'm another bible basher that believes in killing sinners........noooooo I'm not like that at all :P. this is very controversal and I'm not trying to prove anything
@christianshounen101 You make a good point...If the guy picking up sticks knew the law then he MOST LIKELY wouldn't have been picking them..If he WASN'T accustomed to the law, then why didn't god just at least PUNISH him A LITTLE the first time,,then educate him on the matters of the sabbath...God loves him some human sacrifice..yummm
@iekenta03 this doesn't advocate human sacrafice at all regardless of the other vid about the girl coming out of the house. since you can't look back at this in historical terms and just see it as having no reason at all, let me put it in these terms: view at as an old archaic way of punishment, since back then there wasn't any jail systems at all and they viewed torturing the victims was wrong.
@holdenbane well what would you want them to do in that period? there wasn't any jails, community service, or any of the stuff we have today. as far as execution they tried to make it swift. what could they use? putting someone on fire?STABBING them to death?HANGING? as far as I know Israel had a stable Nation that didn't have alot of crime for 2,000 years. unlike certain countries today that has crimes 24/7
@christianshounen101 build a jail? how hard is it to contain someone, really? you'd think an 'all loving god' would be able to guide his followers with a little more class. i would much rather be stabbed to death then stoned in the fucking face for HOURS. certain countries where crime is now rampant? you mean like all the really religious countries? yeah, i would agree with that.
@holdenbane the stoning. I'm not really sure unfortunately. I read some sources on israel as well as there word usage. and I looked a bit into there history. that's about it.
@holdenbane "build a jail? how hard is it to contain someone, really?" in our country we have MORE than one person in Jail. Jails have been a problem for centuries due to the hygeine, cramped space, and alot of other problems that goes on in them. people are easily molested, rapes, and yes even KILLED in prisons and are even tortured. Unlike america, other countries that have jails must have people on the outside to feed there relatives in prisons. if they didn't they would starve
@holdenbane and after all of this you would think that this would change people? NO! most go straight back into prison AGAIN. Israel was trying to keep a stable nation. Having jails would just allow problems to continue again and again and again. If keeping a stable nation meant for the laws to be harsh then they would have to do it.
@christianshounen101 problems like picking up sticks, childishly mocking a man for being bald, wearing two different kinds of fabric etc. oh, i can totally see how these things could ruin a society... XDD
@holdenbane either way, regardless of Israel being a religious country, their kingdom didn't need to enforce the death penalties for over 2,000 years until their abduction by the Babylonians. as far as their type of execution I can't really say why stoning. as far as I've studied they weren't rained upon by small little rocks but rather throw upon big stones O_o
@holdenbane either way they they did not want to torture people in any way. and plus the people in a crime were warned first. if they still kept on there crime after being warned then the death penalty had to be in order.
@christianshounen101 yes, but just because you previously warned someone that something is a crime, does not mean it is just to torture them (stoning). picking up sticks hardly warrants death and anyone who advocates that it does is obviously twisted and warped in the mind. and i wouldn't take any advice from people like that. just an example. if your neighbor approached you one afternoon and informed you that if you pet your dog, he will shoot you. is it morally right for him to shoot you?
@holdenbane I don't agree with this type of punishment I will agree but I think it's better than being burned or boiled alive :P for hours. and yeah come to think of it it is very torturous.
@jeans1515 well at least I gave some kind of rationalization. and plus the situation in this is not even detailed so we can't say what really happened. and plus if we look at the original hebrew we might have an understanding of whatever thgis means. on in all this was translated from hebrew and english translation of hebrew isn't that good :P. and plus it's a good idea to speak with rabbis and other jewish sources in order to see the real picture in these stories.
@christianshounen101 bible was originally written in greek. The intent was clear and to try and defend it shows the amorality of the bible. At least say: "yeah back then they were pretty stupid to buy into that" or something. But I guess that concedes that in this case (and perhaps others) the bible is not the unfailing word of god.
@jeans1515 .......the Bible was written in greek AND hebrew. the only part of the Bible to be written in greek was the new testament.......the rest of the old testament( including this story) was written originally in hebrew.
@christianshounen101 your right, the OT was translated into greek originally. That still fails to show that the bible is the unfailing word of Elohim?
@jeans1515 thus gives even more of a reason for english translators should carefully translate hebrew. I never said it was a failling or unfailling "word of God". and even so it is better to speak with rabbis tather than.....well whoever else. Plus there are also translations that have been translated directly into english.
@christianshounen101 You have mentioned several times that "back then" this is an archaic way of punishment, this is the way they killed people to death. But god is the all knowing god. Only "man" had the less mentality of a way to put people to death. So are you saying that man wrote the bible in "mans" words? God certainly could have thought of hanging man right? But stoning was the way man knew of killing guilty people.
@44musicluvr lol I will admit I am not much of a thelogists ......plusI've been seeing the history ofthe biblem original languages, how itwas translated horribly yadayadayada ad I gotta say the bible is one screwed up book >_<
sadly all I can say is, regardless of this sounding horrible, back at those times israelites were a small group. they had rules and they were also living in the desert. so pretty much they didn't have jails(as shown in the video) and thus he was stoned to death. but I don't anyone to take my word for it :P and I will not be in denial for this neither.
This is proof that atheists are ignorant of the biblical teachings, but yet they try to point out flaws that are not at all flaws, but just biblical concepts that they are too ignorant to grasp. If you want me to teach you the Old Testament, I will be happy to do so, then you will know the truth about God.
@PrettyBoySexy2 I love it how christians can sit there and say "you guys are all ignorant, the bible said such and such,,but it REALLY meant to say such and such.." god said stone him...god killed...WHAT OTHER WAY can you try to look at it LOL..YOU CANT GET AWAY FROM IT GOD gets off on human death hahaha
And the history never knew that the man was a scientist gathering wood for an early prototype of ballista, which he would sell to an evil overlord who use that advanced war technology to take over countries and eventually the world, creating an empire that advances war technology at extreme rates. In few hundred years they would have had nuclear weapons and without the current global stability of fear, they would have used them to destroy the world.
I have noticed that there are no comments here....shows most folks are afraid of the real truth of the Bible. I love this series, just wish it was around when I was a kid being forced to go to that Pentecostal church of Assholes & Control- Freaks!!!
@castlecolten - Thanks, castlecolten. I'm thinking about a video (or part of a video) explaining that a number of Pentecostal practices are based on a part of the bible (the last part of Mark) that has been conclusively proven to be a later addition by scribes who were copying the bible. They found various much older manuscripts where those passages were absent from all of them.
One of those is the snake-handling (which I know is a rare practice) that is based on unoriginal text.
the holy ghost came to me last night, (or maybe it was the tooth fairy, it was dark i couldn't tell for sure.) anyway he said in a deep echoing voice.
"go out and spread the word of BOB." BOB i said, he said "yes, spread the word of BOB." so i said "i'm ready, i'm ready." he said "that's perfect." then he disappeared back into the closet.. oh man, that;s one goofy ghost.
@castlecolten I had just visited a Pentecostal church a few days ago (forced to go by my girlfriends grandma) they are way too extreme for my tastes plus they were very disrespectful to me and my rights. I got continuously threatened (I almost had to call the police to issue some restraining orders or do something :( ) and bossed around by people who had no business trying to mess with my life not to say that every Pentecostal church is like that but I had a really bad experience there...
What a dumbass. What's he out gathering sticks for in the first place? He was probably stealing them. Serves him right to get stoned to death. He had it coming to him - stupid asshole.
God is so cool. He took us out of Egypt. I didn't want to be in Egypt anyway. Fuck Egypt.
Maybe he was collecting burning sticks (faggots). Maybe it's an anti-gay law. lol I know, their word for a burning stick didn't also mean gay, but it's an imperfect translation anyways.
Where did the name Numbers come from anyways? Seems like an odd name for a "book".
wow, so much for free will... "god has granted you free will to choose to believe or not, but heaven fucking help you if your caught gathering fire wood on sunday, that isnt covered under free will, and ill fucking kill your ass"
@abassett22 That wasn't jesus. That was god. Even though I don't believe jesus was a prophet you have to admit jesus still was pretty bad ass. The guy was a criminal who was told by the government to stop spreading his word of peace & love & he straight up went "screw you ROME! cuz guess what I lovez u too!" and he racked up a hefty criminal record. That's why they killed him. B-a-d A-s-s.
@charliesplinter Obviously because youtube is not a good forum for debate due to the small character limit, I oversimplified things..but basically what I said is a "fabrication" that you can find in all history books about jesus including another book- the bible itself. I don't have to make you look ignorant as you've done that on your own. ;)
I have done what again? I fail to see how you call me ignorant when you said the Romans were concerned with a Jewish preacher who went around doing good. Jesus was certainly not the insurrectionist and told the people to pay their taxes. So please sir get your facts straight and keep them in order. Rome did NOT tell Jesus to stop preaching! Thanks! :-)
This has always been one of my favourite bible stories. I always cite it when discussing Christianity with a theist. It is the perfect example of the God's cruelty and injustice finished off with a big dose of absurdity. The men who wrote the bible weren't even very bright. Never mind the contradiction of stoning a man to death for gathering firewood followed by an order to remember the commandments, one of which is "thou shalt not kill".
this is god sending a message that couldnt be interpreted for quite some time. the man was in the woods gathering sticks... a bundle of em... aka fagot. faggot is a condescending slang word used to refer to homosexuals. so he was picking up a fag to have hot gay sex with... on the sabbath. i dont see how god had a choice on this one =P great vid
Maybe after he was done gathering the sticks he was going to gather the sons of the Israelite and brutally rape them all with those sticks until they died of rectal bleeding?
So, let me get this straight. We're supposed to remember that the culture and time was different when the Bible was written - so different, that what they found to be morally abhorrent is different from what we deem inappropriate today. But.. we're supposed to read this book and base our morals off what it says? Riiight.

Charlesincharge42 1 year ago
Actually, I think I know what the metaphorical meaning of "gathering sticks" means. It means masturbating. He was masturbating in the woods on the sabbath. Think about it.

Fools! another exemple of falsehood and ignorance of the cultural contex. At the time, doing anything on the Sabbath was like commiting a homocide in certain states of America. it was a capital crime and the man was aware of it. Fools and liars
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 - "Whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." - Matthew 5:22
(Also, rocha333, did God change his mind on this rule? Cultural context means that man has changed a moral or value. Here, God ordered the man's death. So if it's okay now, it has to be one of two things: (1) God changed his mind or (2) People changed their mind and God didn't. Which is it?)
43alley 1 year ago 21
@43alley( "Whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." - Matthew 5:22) this means who use such words at random without cause, which is not my case. God Himself calls atheists fools for for failing seing what is in front of them.
God is the law giver, He decreed in the beginning of those who broke the Sabbath would be put to death. Everyone knew that, including the man who died.
I'm simply here to show people how stupid is the atheistic ideas on the Bible.
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 Why not go to one of the many, many xtian sites on youtube, with videos that are to your liking, and comment there? Surely there are thousands of pro-xtian sites where you can comment on xtian topics to like-minded ppl. Your over-strident xtian apologetics and rationalisations are pointless to ppl with rational minds. The words of the bible are often stupid, contradictory, immoral and, when taken seriously, funny and worthy of sarcasm. You are the one who appears "stupid" here.
luvsbooks 1 year ago
@luvsbooks you have a rational mind, hahaha, you vcan't even stand 10 seconds with me talking about reason. How can you talk about rationality if God does not exist? there is no rationality in an universe created from NOTHING by blind chance. See my friend... you have been manipulated my Satan through evil men who dont care about you or your family.
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 Prove it. Lets see facts; concrete evidence that is testable and verifiable and you'll win over every athiest that lives.
Your irrational beliefs in god, satan, the words of a book full of contradictions have no basis in reality. Please provide proof.
Like many ignorant believers, you assume the opposite of your beliefs is "blind chance" b/c you have no understanding of evolutionary biology, archeology, geology, genetics or cosmology. Read something besides myths. Get an education.
luvsbooks 1 year ago
@luvsbooks my friend you say that i have irrational belief in God, but you never stick to the my last post which is said there is no rationality in a reality created by nothing and by chance. Please don't run away from the topic, cos I'm not stupid. Moreover, I'm a student of arqueaology and religious studies at Birckbeck university of London. I'm really getting my education. I'm not a louse that live on people's heads. I use my God-given intelligence to reason.
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 OKEY, i will give you concrete and testable evidence for God's existence. First ask yourself what was the first cause for everything that exists - either the universe itself and everything in it? Second, How can everything that exists be complexably and perfectly designed even to the least parts? Please if this does not serve as evidence for a designing creator, then explain why not with absolute logic. waiting
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 - No matter the answer, even granting you every answer you want, you can get no farther than Deism (and not your particular God and your particular religion and denomination).
Here's a challenge to your challenge. Without citing your Holy Book, explain with, as you say, "absolute logic," why it was only one Creator and not two or three.
43alley 1 year ago
@43alley I can say the same thing about you, my friend. no matter the answer you can get no father than atheism. However, i will answer your question. Without using the Bible, I ended up as any other civilisation, in doubt if there was only one or more than one God, though not disproving the evidence for an eternal being who created everything, which is evident. But as we have the bible it's easier to know there is only one. Please answer my question above in my previous post if you are honest

@rocha333 - That flew right over your head, didn't it?

@43alley what? i just explaine to you that the existence of an eternal being is evident either you dont know if there are one or more. Though civilizations did not know how to discribe God, they never denied their existence, which you unlogically do. No different civilization differ someone created everything. you are confusing things for the sake of the argument. You didn't even answer my question about what is the first cause of everything! if you don't answer is cos u dont know!

READ!
luvsbooks 1 year ago
@luvsbooks all this get back tot he beginning, Who formulated the essence of genetics or biology?, if this is the case. :)
I already said that not all scientists believe in evolution with these ideas that parts of animal are useless, which makes it unreal until futher notice :)
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 Sweeping assertions about "blind chance" and a universe from "nothing" show that you're not versed in the science of cosmology. Adding content about supernatural beings (god, satan) doesn't help your case. You need to show that these things exist for your argument to have legs. You assert that there's a creator. That's a positive assertion that requires proof. I say you lack proof. That's my answer to your broad, unoriginal posts - prove there's a creator.
luvsbooks 1 year ago

@rocha333 ahah "atheistic trick"?? It's just "using one's mind", no trick or whatever. Either killing a man for he is gathering sticks on saturday IS GOOD, so it should be done nowadays too, or IT IS BAD, so the the bible is wrong. God cannot "change his mind" (lol!) on such an issue. We are talking about torture and homicide here man!
MurgitaMiura 1 year ago
@MurgitaMiura You should learn the Bible before accusing it without knowledge. Death to those who break The Sabbath should not used today because Jesus alread paid for our errors. Everytime someone in Jesus unintencionaly breaks a law, he has the blood of Christ that pays for his sins. Please Study more about that

MurgitaMiura 1 year ago
@rocha333 So, yes or no, was God's command to stone someone to death for collecting sticks on the sabbath the JUST, FAIR, LOVING, KIND, or GOOD thing to do? Or was it just plain evil?
Please answer my question directly.

@El3ctricPenguin , it's not up to you to decide what is just, fair, loving or good. You're missing the whole point, my friend.
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 Absolutely amazing. So you're obviously an objectivist about morality. So what I'm getting from your reply is that it is up to your god to decide what is good. He decided it was right to murder a human being for collecting sticks on the sabbath, therefore it is good? Is that what you're saying?
El3ctricPenguin 1 year ago
@rocha333 SO how does this "cultural context" make a friggin difference.... or be a "lie" for that matter? You do realize that by your smug explanation, once gay marriage becomes legal in all states your god will no longer have any problem with gay people.

@rocha333 I notice that you didn't at all condemn the act. Do you think that the people of the village acted correctly? Do you really think that god ever wanted someone killed for gathering sticks on a certain day of the week? Is this a good example of christian morality?
TheOmegadusk 1 year ago
@TheOmegadusk the people of that town was wrong and gathering stick on the sabbath day was a Sin against God and God Himself decreed that all those who disrespected His decreed should be put to death. the Bible does not give a clear statement what kind of man that was, all we know is that he broke the decreed of God. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
rocha333 1 year ago
@rocha333 So the people of the town were wrong but they did what god had commanded. That people who gather sticks on the sabbath day should be executed? You can't be serious. I always work on the so-called "sabbath." Come and try and execute me.
TheOmegadusk 1 year ago
@rocha333 Of course! I see, it's perfectly acceptable for copper age desert people to kill people for lifting things on sabbath. That's not why we mock you, though, is it? You think GOD wrote this stuff.

@rocha333 Do I give a shit if they thought it was ok or thought it was murder? Clearly killing a man for picking up sticks is immoral. Only a psychopath would think this is ok. If you think this is moral behavior then you should be comitted to a psychiatric ward.

How much more then it is OK for God, who made us, to kill us if we are evil.
kjordon1 1 year ago

The lesson is that the guy was doing work on a day where there is no work. In other words don't work on Sunday.
UltraComboer 1 year ago
@UltraComboer Yeah, that's an awesome lesson: don't gather sticks on sunday, or god will command that you be tortured to death (and then probably for eternity afterwards). god is so kind and loving!
MaximusRelaximus 1 year ago

And yes many similar evils were prevalent and little snakes grow into big snake
smokeybirdman 1 year ago
@smokeybirdman thats an interesting story, although, perhaps thoes little details should have been in the bible. As it's written, some dude went out playing with a few sticks, someone caught him and the town stoned the poor bastard.
kendrawhisp 1 year ago
@smokeybirdman a person is 'foolish' and 'evil' for picking up sticks? i'm sorry sir, but your mind has deteriorated beyond the point of return. we'll get you a nice white room to bounce around in though, don't you worry.

Nice series. Funny =].
Just a caution:
a particular phrase "he was probably hit with stones for hours before he died" insinuates that you believe in the bible.

and plus wouldn't wood ALREADY be at the camps so everyone would have had some on the sabbath? I mean if this person knew what the law said he would have gotten wood waayyyy before the sabbath.well this is just a thought but I don't think this will be taken seriously and half of the ppl on here will think I'm another bible basher that believes in killing sinners........noooooo I'm not like that at all :P. this is very controversal and I'm not trying to prove anything
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 You make a good point...If the guy picking up sticks knew the law then he MOST LIKELY wouldn't have been picking them..If he WASN'T accustomed to the law, then why didn't god just at least PUNISH him A LITTLE the first time,,then educate him on the matters of the sabbath...God loves him some human sacrifice..yummm
iekenta03 1 year ago
@iekenta03 this doesn't advocate human sacrafice at all regardless of the other vid about the girl coming out of the house. since you can't look back at this in historical terms and just see it as having no reason at all, let me put it in these terms: view at as an old archaic way of punishment, since back then there wasn't any jail systems at all and they viewed torturing the victims was wrong.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 "they viewed torturing the victims was wrong."
oh totally. that's why they STONED PEOPLE TO DEATH.
holdenbane 1 year ago
@holdenbane well what would you want them to do in that period? there wasn't any jails, community service, or any of the stuff we have today. as far as execution they tried to make it swift. what could they use? putting someone on fire?STABBING them to death?HANGING? as far as I know Israel had a stable Nation that didn't have alot of crime for 2,000 years. unlike certain countries today that has crimes 24/7
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 build a jail? how hard is it to contain someone, really? you'd think an 'all loving god' would be able to guide his followers with a little more class. i would much rather be stabbed to death then stoned in the fucking face for HOURS. certain countries where crime is now rampant? you mean like all the really religious countries? yeah, i would agree with that.
holdenbane 1 year ago
@holdenbane "you mean like all the really religious countries? yeah, i would agree with that."
=_= Israel was religious too. at least THEY were able to keep there nation stable.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 do you have any evidence to demonstrate this?
holdenbane 1 year ago
@holdenbane the stoning. I'm not really sure unfortunately. I read some sources on israel as well as there word usage. and I looked a bit into there history. that's about it.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@holdenbane sticks and stones can break my bones but names will never hurt me XDDD
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@holdenbane "build a jail? how hard is it to contain someone, really?" in our country we have MORE than one person in Jail. Jails have been a problem for centuries due to the hygeine, cramped space, and alot of other problems that goes on in them. people are easily molested, rapes, and yes even KILLED in prisons and are even tortured. Unlike america, other countries that have jails must have people on the outside to feed there relatives in prisons. if they didn't they would starve
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@holdenbane and after all of this you would think that this would change people? NO! most go straight back into prison AGAIN. Israel was trying to keep a stable nation. Having jails would just allow problems to continue again and again and again. If keeping a stable nation meant for the laws to be harsh then they would have to do it.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 problems like picking up sticks, childishly mocking a man for being bald, wearing two different kinds of fabric etc. oh, i can totally see how these things could ruin a society... XDD
holdenbane 1 year ago
@holdenbane Yeah really XD
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@holdenbane either way, regardless of Israel being a religious country, their kingdom didn't need to enforce the death penalties for over 2,000 years until their abduction by the Babylonians. as far as their type of execution I can't really say why stoning. as far as I've studied they weren't rained upon by small little rocks but rather throw upon big stones O_o
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@holdenbane either way they they did not want to torture people in any way. and plus the people in a crime were warned first. if they still kept on there crime after being warned then the death penalty had to be in order.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 yes, but just because you previously warned someone that something is a crime, does not mean it is just to torture them (stoning). picking up sticks hardly warrants death and anyone who advocates that it does is obviously twisted and warped in the mind. and i wouldn't take any advice from people like that. just an example. if your neighbor approached you one afternoon and informed you that if you pet your dog, he will shoot you. is it morally right for him to shoot you?
holdenbane 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 it's pretty sad that you think stoning someone to death isn't torturing them.
holdenbane 1 year ago
@holdenbane I don't agree with this type of punishment I will agree but I think it's better than being burned or boiled alive :P for hours. and yeah come to think of it it is very torturous.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 What a sad rationalization of a horrible story.
jeans1515 1 year ago
@jeans1515 well at least I gave some kind of rationalization. and plus the situation in this is not even detailed so we can't say what really happened. and plus if we look at the original hebrew we might have an understanding of whatever thgis means. on in all this was translated from hebrew and english translation of hebrew isn't that good :P. and plus it's a good idea to speak with rabbis and other jewish sources in order to see the real picture in these stories.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 bible was originally written in greek. The intent was clear and to try and defend it shows the amorality of the bible. At least say: "yeah back then they were pretty stupid to buy into that" or something. But I guess that concedes that in this case (and perhaps others) the bible is not the unfailing word of god.
jeans1515 1 year ago
@jeans1515 .......the Bible was written in greek AND hebrew. the only part of the Bible to be written in greek was the new testament.......the rest of the old testament( including this story) was written originally in hebrew.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 your right, the OT was translated into greek originally. That still fails to show that the bible is the unfailing word of Elohim?
jeans1515 1 year ago
@jeans1515 thus gives even more of a reason for english translators should carefully translate hebrew. I never said it was a failling or unfailling "word of God". and even so it is better to speak with rabbis tather than.....well whoever else. Plus there are also translations that have been translated directly into english.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
@christianshounen101 You have mentioned several times that "back then" this is an archaic way of punishment, this is the way they killed people to death. But god is the all knowing god. Only "man" had the less mentality of a way to put people to death. So are you saying that man wrote the bible in "mans" words? God certainly could have thought of hanging man right? But stoning was the way man knew of killing guilty people.
44musicluvr 1 year ago
@44musicluvr lol I will admit I am not much of a thelogists ......plusI've been seeing the history ofthe biblem original languages, how itwas translated horribly yadayadayada ad I gotta say the bible is one screwed up book >_<
christianshounen101 1 year ago
sadly all I can say is, regardless of this sounding horrible, back at those times israelites were a small group. they had rules and they were also living in the desert. so pretty much they didn't have jails(as shown in the video) and thus he was stoned to death. but I don't anyone to take my word for it :P and I will not be in denial for this neither.
christianshounen101 1 year ago
This is proof that atheists are ignorant of the biblical teachings, but yet they try to point out flaws that are not at all flaws, but just biblical concepts that they are too ignorant to grasp. If you want me to teach you the Old Testament, I will be happy to do so, then you will know the truth about God.
PrettyBoySexy2 1 year ago

Thank you God for saving us from ourselves.

I have noticed that there are no comments here....shows most folks are afraid of the real truth of the Bible. I love this series, just wish it was around when I was a kid being forced to go to that Pentecostal church of Assholes & Control- Freaks!!!
castlecolten 1 year ago 6

"go out and spread the word of BOB." BOB i said, he said "yes, spread the word of BOB." so i said "i'm ready, i'm ready." he said "that's perfect." then he disappeared back into the closet.. oh man, that;s one goofy ghost.
peace, lardo.

Maybe he was collecting burning sticks (faggots). Maybe it's an anti-gay law. lol I know, their word for a burning stick didn't also mean gay, but it's an imperfect translation anyways.

abassett22 1 year ago
@abassett22 That wasn't jesus. That was god. Even though I don't believe jesus was a prophet you have to admit jesus still was pretty bad ass. The guy was a criminal who was told by the government to stop spreading his word of peace & love & he straight up went "screw you ROME! cuz guess what I lovez u too!" and he racked up a hefty criminal record. That's why they killed him. B-a-d A-s-s.
annaknowsu 1 year ago

uhmm...The government (Romans) didn't tell him to stop preaching the word. That is your own made up story. As usual fabrication is your game.
charliesplinter 1 year ago
@charliesplinter Obviously because youtube is not a good forum for debate due to the small character limit, I oversimplified things..but basically what I said is a "fabrication" that you can find in all history books about jesus including another book- the bible itself. I don't have to make you look ignorant as you've done that on your own. ;)
annaknowsu 1 year ago
@annaknowsu
Thanks! :-)
charliesplinter 1 year ago
This has always been one of my favourite bible stories. I always cite it when discussing Christianity with a theist. It is the perfect example of the God's cruelty and injustice finished off with a big dose of absurdity. The men who wrote the bible weren't even very bright. Never mind the contradiction of stoning a man to death for gathering firewood followed by an order to remember the commandments, one of which is "thou shalt not kill".
