Pretty good review but the game should easly get a 9.0/10 or 9.5/10 and you should buy it not rent it this game is one of the best games out for sports. and if you like hockey dont even think about renting it buy it cuz you will love it. and the fighting sucks like 2 punches or 1 and you r knocked down. and hte controls r ok i just think the deak button should not be the same as the shooting button cuz sometimes if you try to deak you might shoot instead but you will get use to it..game is GREAT
Why the A button??? Its easier to use the RT so that you dont let go your right thumb off the right stick just to press A!!! I love the controls and their not confusing!!! I basically got use to it after like one game! NHL 09 is the best!!! And in my thoughts I'd give it 9.5/10!!! 0.5 for the fighting, thats the only one that looks crappy!

My opinion is that this game is excellent and I have played every Hockey game ever made.Including hockey and blades of steel on NES,the EA incarnations on Genesis and N64,the 2K series on Dreamcast and PS2, and back to EA on PS3..

i think the reason that the trigger is pass, is so u can hold a deke, and pass while holding that deke or while having ur stick back for a slapshot

the time speeds up when your in the penalty box. it's not hard to avoid penalties though.
you can also change the settings to keep your player on the ice the entire game

I guess that having the right trigger be pass makes it easier to do one timers. And, you can choose the NHL 94 controls.
