please help me. i must know what the things bolted down. that are like the ball bearings or something but i need that but i dont know the name.. but i need some small ones and bigger ones like you have here.
Great idea! Love the grain mill as well. Hey, one thought is that the exposed threads on the pipe will shred your clothes. Maybe find a tube or even pvc pipe that will fit over most of the steel, especially the threads. That or grind everything smooth.
Always get a kick out of these homespun design / engineering projects.
What might be handy is being able to operate drain and fill valves while still in the diver seat. You could run thru the wash and rinse cycles and still keep pedaling at a steady rate.
... the need to be ready for potential earthquakes (I'm in southern Califronia). AND we have a lot of environmentalist, and much of what they do works for prepardness as well. As for myself, I'm a tinkerer and a bit OCD about selfl sufficiency. Yankeeprepper wasright though, not many guys could teach you a whole lot when it comes to making power! Thanks for your videos.
Even tho you have so many layers of redundant systems, and it's highly unlikely you would ever resort to pedal power unless we went into a multi generational tail spin as a nation, it seems as though you do this as a means of teaching others. It makes sense, the more preped people are, they less likely they are to kill you and take what you have (not that it would be easy or they would know what to do with it). Around here, we don't have "preppers" so much, but people are aware of ...
Wondering how things are going. I'm curious if the back and forth bar moved a wet load of clothes? Perhaps a big cylinder with beater bars along the outer rim would toss the clothes easier?
@anyusmoon1 Haven't tested the washer yet. The bar will be easy to modify if I do need to make any adjustments. It is all pipe fittings screwed together so I can make any shape I want.. Trying to get my woodgas projects wrapped up first. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback.
@engineer775 One thing's for sure, I sure do appreciate these videos! Experiments in ingenuity, repurposing and making do with what ya've got are super cool.
I love this ! I been looking at getting a James washer , but they are so expensive. I think I will build something like this on a smaller scale. I don't need to do 4 loads at a time. :) Can't wait to see you do some clothes in that.
Neat! That reminds me of that show "The Colony" in the first season this guy uses the same principle of the bicycle as an energy source but than mounted a canted steel barrel with metal lips on the inside to turn the laundry around.
Got an old hand operated washer at an antique store. Been planning to do the same thing with it. Maybe a "Paddle" attached to your agitator, would help clean better?
