It's amazing that whites know little of their slave heritage. I put it down to jewish owned media etc alaways labeling the white man as the evil slavers and evil doers. I suppose the jews have 2 reasons for doing this 1. to constantly lie and trying to destroy the white race 2. to hide their own slave trade, which the jews were some of the biggest slave traders the world has known. As for whites being enslaved the only place were this happened in a large amount was in the Ottoman Empire and the most common form of this was what was called the Ottoman's Devsirme system. While the devsirme system is not ethical by today's standards I wouldn't define it as "slavery" or if one did it was elite "slavery". The devsirme say young Christian boys from the Balkans converted to Islam and raised in the palace schools to be the elites in the Ottoman society serving the Sultan directly.

As for Arabs, slavery was practiced pre-Islam. Islam said to free all slaves and treat every race equally read about the Prophet Muhammad PBUH's close companion the black Ethiopian man Bilal RA. The Prophet PBUH personally freed huge numbers of slaves. As for the Umayyad Empires and others that came later, after the death of the Prophet PBUH, they did practice some unfortunate slavery but in reference to Basra this man didn't really have his facts right.

Responding to this video, yes slavery has been a worldwide practice since the start of time. I'd say most evidences shows the Atlantic slave trade was the largest and the only really racist slave trade were Europeans viewed Africans as allegedly non-humans that could be tortured in the most horrific ways see what happened to slaves in particularly south America in Brazil under the Spanish and the insanely high death rates of overworked slaves there and then in America obviously.

Not only the Zanj rebels captured Basrah the capture whole of south Iraq up to 200 kilometers from Baghdad.. and the state they established (200 km from the capital of the Abbasid capital) continued for 40 years.

Regretabely almost all the Islamic sources just called them "heretics" or infedels.. and wrote nothing of the comparative justice they established in only 40 years.

I don't believe the Arabs conducted any slave trade on the same level as brutality and scale as Europe did with Africa. A lot of white racists use this argument by coming up with the suggestion that the transatlantic slave trade was not unique in history. I really doubt the Arabs treated black people as bad as whites did. If Arabs treated blacks with contempt, then how come the Moors were black?

No excuses for slave-traders, but a 50% death-rate over the short distance from east Africa to the Persian Gulf sounds exaggerated. The Zanj revolt around Basra is well known to historians of slavery. And of course the Vikings were slave-traders of, eg., the Irish. The issue of the 'racialization' of slavery is important. On slavery within west African societies please check the work of the great Caribbean historian Walter Rodney (1942-assassinated 1980). And never forget class-struggle!
