You know what...those old survival horror games with fixed camera angels are way BETTER than these 3rd person shooters disguising themselves as horror games that we got today (Resident Evil 5, Dead Space etc)

@benjireize I think true horror needs build up, not cheap jump scares, as for RE5, you call it scary? playing alone doesn't make scary, it just makes it harder but not scarier, because it doesn't have any horror elements, no build up, no atmosphere no feeling of dread or misery when encountering a monster, which is one of my problems with Dead Space, seriously how many "Best Kills" vids does that game have?

@Miyakolover You understand what 'remotely' and 'kinda' means right? As for best kill videos - no matter how 'scary' a game is, people will do that. I remember finding resident evil 1 scary, but it's not long before you're running around, not in the slightest worried about what might be round the corner. I've yet to find a game I found scary all the way through. Closest so far was Silent Hill 2 and perhaps 3. Those being very atmosphere based.

@benjireize Did you ever see Silent Hill or Resident Evil (horror based ones) best kills videos before? I don't think so, my point is that Dead Space is more action based and is not scary, hell you collect money and buy weapons and ammunition and upgrade your weapons like action games, while in true horror games you're not really suppossed to do that, you have limitations and you have to find your own shit, not to mention that Dead Space just has "Dark Rooms" with no build up for the scares

@Miyakolover no but you see speed runs. Not sure if you're getting angry but my intention wasn't to start an argument. I just happen to have found the first hour or so of dead space scary - until i realised they are slow and easy to kill. I also wasnt fond of the controls tbh, felt a tad helpless when stuff would spring at me. Either way the fixed camera survival games with limited ammo etc were much scarier definitely, I just don't think re5 or dead space was totally devoid of scariness.

i think dino crisis 2 is better than old resident evil because you can buy things if you are in shit condition and on dino crisis 2 you can move when you are handling your gun thats a good things ^^ and i like this game xO lol im shearching it again on ps1

@alexandre779 Not taking anything away from Dino Crisis, I think it does some stuff better than the first RE (like allowing you to walk while in aiming mode for example) but saying that "you have to restart the entire game if you didn't save and you have limited saves and you don't know where to go because of the map" proves the problem is you and not the game, alot of people including me didn't suffer that much with limited saving and never got lost

@Volkovic7013 DC2 doesn't have anywhere near the scare factor of the original. It's more action based in the early part of the game however it gets scarier further in, especially once you're no longer out in the sunny bit of the island. I loved RE 1 - 3, the only new game survival game i'd recommend is Silent Hill 5, it still has a lot of that 'hopeless' scariness games seem to lack in the horror genre recently.

I love this game... from its cheap graphics to the detailed scenery.

Every room feels real, like a Dino attack had actually happened, and every venture through the thick jungle feels alive...

@benjireize When your in the first map (the jungle) get the card that's floating in the lake (it will save you time because you need it later). Then wher you're in the dock, get a sub machine gun then kill as many flying water type dinosaurs, it respawn fast. so collect points there until you have enough money for the most expensive item. (i forgot what it is, i think it's a card that will enhance something). sorry if i cant point out the items/maps clearly, it's been 8-9 years.
