Thanx for uploading. This track is very cool and I like it a lot. My hobby is to rediscover all those great bands from the 60s that didn´t "broke through". Listen for example to a band from Scandinavia called THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beauiful Delilah". Intoxication f......g good with a bloody driving beat.
the original is in Scott records the flip side is call "Edies Tune" composed by Eddie Martinez (the drummer) if anyone has that one please play it it sounds great!!!! thanks for the memories.....!!!!!!! great job.....
Wow! I saw " The Birdwatchers" on the same bill with "The Syndicate Of Sound", and "'The Rascals" In November of 66 at Daytona Beach's Peabody Auditorium. A splendid time...indeed! The smell of "Jade East" cologne was overpowering at that gig. A few weeks later during the Thanksgiving weekend...The Allman Joys(Duane & Greg's band) were playing on Main Street at a club called The Martinique!
Wow thanks for the memories. I grew up in Miami - the Birdwatchers were all over WFUN and WQAM. There's another great song "I'm gonna do it to you" that just got posted...
Great band! Wonderful song! I'm so glad for having been there and keeping inside of me the memories of a unique time in history. Thanks Birdwatchers, Rich Shaw et all. You rock!
the flip side of this song has EDDIES TUNE song by the drummer its a beautiful tune..if anybody has it please post it thanks!!!!!!!!I had the 45 rpm and lost it years ago!!! thanks!!!!
I was three in 66, so I never heard of The Birdwatchers until the summer of '86, when I bought "The Garage Zone Volume 2" which boasted "16 Boss Cuts," with "Gonna Love You Anyway," being the "bossiest" of the 16. About 1 1/2 years later, while working at a local record store, a mint condition copy of WQAM's "Roaring 30" album found it's way to our shelves. Well, almost. When I saw that a Birdwatchers tune was included on it (this very song, in fact), I bought it immediately! SUPER STUFF!!!
Just met Sammy today, I swung by his cool looking carwash and talked to him for a bit. Very nice guy has a lot of cool stories,he was kind of busy, but I would love to go back and talk to him more. Unfortunately I got let go from my radio gig at the local oldies station there so I will have to move but I will catch up with him now that I know where he's at. I would love to do a video interview with him. He is a very friendly guy.
Thanks for upoloading the original version of "Girl I've got news for You". I only knew the 1972 Mardi Gras version, (which is excellent by the way) because here in México is the only one that radio still airs through "Universal Stereo 92.1 FM"
the flip side of this 45 rpm has A SONG BY EDDIE MARTINEZ THE DRUMMER CALLED "EDDIE'S TUNE."..I READ HE IS DECEASED..THIS WAS A GREAT SOUTH FLORIDA BAND..WHATEVER HAPPEND TO THEM...
Maybe I can interview Sammy sometime on my show, love to hear about those young days in the mid 60's. And you weren't hip unless you had a Vox Continental organ in your group in 1966. It was standard. Still a very cool organ to have 42 years later. I know because I have one!
I'm a radio dj for a station that plays hits from the 60s&70s in East TN and I just did a show spotlighting P.R. & The Raiders. Lead singer Sammy Hall's nephew called my show and told me about this group. They opened for the Raiders whenever they & other groups would come to Miami FL. Sammy is 62 now and fondly remembers when he was 20 and enjoying the fun he had back then. He has a den at home filled with memorobilia from those days. Thanks for that phone call and turning me on to these guys!
this band was very popular in miami fl 1966, they used to play at TRADER JOHN;S..THE FLIP SIDE OF THE SONG IS CALLED EDDIE'S TUNE SONG BY THE DRUMMER EDDIE MARTINEZ...
Oh man, I was in High School in Miami when these guys sang this! Those were the days, great times in Miami in the 60's, too bad it's all changed. Naomi
I agree, anyone you ask that grew up in Miami back then says it was the best place. I don't think kids today here can say the same thing. To bad. Hey, do you remember Pirates World in Dania? How about Skipper Chuck? I could go on and on. I went to Norland, where were you?
I went to MIami Edison Senior High in the 1960's and I also spent one year at Archibishop Curley High when it was all male school ( they kicked me out) for fighting...
You're right about growing up in Miami in the 60s/70s. It was paradise...and exciting and tons of fun! I went to Norland, too, maroon & gray, class of 72. Hamburgers after school at the North Dade Optimist. With a Coke and Reese's Cup. Healthy!
I was in high school in a very small town called Boca Raton. EVERY morning I'd watch the Ricj Shaw show on TV before school and the Birdwatcher's were the "house band!"
Great 60s sound!
