I agree, every album had such a different feel...... so far, this album sounds like a mix of all of them... Crystalline sounds like volta meets homogenic with hints of glassy, cold sounding vespertine.... amazing!
@JohnnyLovely2 What is her old sound? I think every album has sounded different. Some better than others. It never really works out for artists when they try to copy what they did in the past.
@tammara Not only that, but every album has been an opposite of the one before in some way, in her own words:
— Debut was more simple, her everyday thoughts on her life before she went to England; and Post was a record of her embracing the cosmopolite, meant as a letter to home so they'd know what was going on.
— Post was a diverse album she did while travelling the world, Homogenic was an attempt at having one flavor and doing an album that would capture the essence of Iceland.
— Homogenic was an album about Iceland as much as it was about herself, whereas Vespertine was an extremely intimate album, one for lonely listening.
— Whereas Vespertine focused on intimacy, Medúlla was more about generations, about all humanity has in common.
— Medúlla was about humans as in human history and what we have shared, a quiet album, Volta was about the future of humans and justice, and aggresive.
— And Volta focused on anthropology and questions about humans whereas Biophilia focuses on non-human-centric science, it's about everything, the universe and science itself.
One wonders what will the next one be. I myself have loved every single one, and I wouldn't be able to choose a favourite. They're amazing and she's amazing.
And... am I the only one who thinks Crystalline isn't like Vespertine at all? It's an entirely different approach to delicate sounds. Vespertine was all about prettiness, littleness, microscopic subtleness and fragility. Crystalline uses mathematically precise, little but robotic and impersonal constant chimes. It's very different.
this lady mus be a very old soul

Jupiter was such a god brother from us all, he was shoot up with such a tragic weapon and look how he feels.
And all the other planets have vaporized atmosphere
so if you play haarp, do it, good luck to found some other humans in this universe
