@mbstylo It was super quick for Spanish. I was doing it a little bit every day for about 3 months and it was very easy for ,e to speak in Spanish after that! I live in California in the Mission district, so it was a must to speak it:) For the Arabic one, it took a little bit longer since it's totally a different alphabet but I learned it. I learned how to understand the language, how to write and how to read. Of course whenever I speak it it's not as quick as French, English or Spanish!

People that don't like it, it's because they don't put time on it! Also, in Rosetta Stone, there is no translation, this is why it works so well! To answer your question, I wanted to learn Arabic for 2 reasons: 1) I study translation and the Arabic language is in demand and 2) My husband is Moroccan! Even thought he speaks a different dialect, I can still understand. He is not a very good teacher thought:) I had to learn by myself with Rosetta Stone! BTW you are so lucky to have 20 languages at home!

This software is only good for learning American English. in other language tutorials,they always have a strong american accent.I find it so ridiculous to hear them speaking British and French with american accent.how are we supposed to pick up a propper languge if americans are too proud to find local narrators to help making this software?

Also, I am British, and I looked at the demo on the Rosetta Stone Japanese site as they have more languages and more trial lessons. idk, I learned portuguese in college, aced all the classes. but that is because I have an interest for it...I did good in French...aced one class and b+ in the other. Some people just don't have the mental capacity to learn a new language. It's significantly harder to learn a language when you're older anyway because the brain plasticity is decreased by far. Sadly, I am one of those people who can't learn a new language. -_-
I, unfortunately, bought this product, buggy from the beginning. I installed it and ran it successfully several times. I then started getting an uninformative error message and it wouldn't run. I uninstalled it to attempt a re-install. Nope and no help on their website. Much later they issued a patch, but now it won't run because I didn't deauthorize my copy. Note that I could not deauthorize it because the program wouldn't run. Now I must find them a (months-old) receipt - I feel cheated.

Question: Is there any difference with the language levels for the prior versions of Rosetta Stone (V3, V2 etc.) than with Totale, or are they the same content?
If you can afford it you should give it a try. It would also be great if you had a language dictionary or remain in contact with someone who speak whatever language your into learning .
People dont understand that you can just use RS by itself. I love RS and bought German Levels 1-5 and find it works great. But for me, i also got a gramar book too that cost like 10 bucks. Its helpes me understand more about sentances and stuff like that. It also gives a lot more vocab and stuff like that that i can use.
This didn't work on my Macbook Pro 13 inch... it couldn't detect my voice at all, and when I used the included mic it kept constantly making the incorrect sound... Will return.

I’m using rosetta stone and can tell you that level 1 alone will not satisfy you. You’ll have the speaking ability of a French child. If you’re serious about learning French or another language then I suggest buying all the levels available for that particular language. It’s a waste of money to buy only level 1 people, you’ll regret not buying the package deal, and if you can’t afford to buy each level then you’re better off going with the book and cd method which is a whole lot cheaper.

@Xehanator Nah but seriously. These guys charge WAY too much. You know most people who want to learn another language are usually college age. How many college kids do you know have the sort of money to buy Rosetta Stone? Not many. They have to spend their minimum wage paycheck on gas and ramen noodles. I think if you know how to work computers, and you REALLY want to learn the language..why not?

idk, I learned portuguese in college, aced all the classes. but that is because I have an interest for it...I did good in French...aced one class and b+ in the other. However, now, I might have forgotten certain things..why? BECAUSE ITS THE PRACTICE AFTER LEARNING A LANGUAGE THAT MAKES IT PERFECT! ***though portuguese is like my inner native language!

Some people just don't have the mental capacity to learn a new language. It's significantly harder to learn a language when you're older anyway because the brain plasticity is decreased by far. Sadly, I am one of those people who can't learn a new language. -_-

I, unfortunately, bought this product, buggy from the beginning. I installed it and ran it successfully several times. I then started getting an uninformative error message and it wouldn't run. I uninstalled it to attempt a re-install. Nope and no help on their website. Much later they issued a patch, but now it won't run because I didn't deauthorize my copy. Note that I could not deauthorize it because the program wouldn't run. Now I must find them a (months-old) receipt - I feel cheated.

People dont understand that you can just use RS by itself. I love RS and bought German Levels 1-5 and find it works great. But for me, i also got a gramar book too that cost like 10 bucks. Its helpes me understand more about sentances and stuff like that. It also gives a lot more vocab and stuff like that that i can use.

@numerrita no, you said as the brain gets older the more it can conjugate verbs and remember word orders which is untrue, because it doesn't matter how old the brain is when dealing with a new language, any fucking genius can go and learn a new language, but their still going to struggle with word order and the conjugation of verbs as much as a fucking 5 year old would. I try to correct you, then you randomly tell me to shut up in Portuguese (still don't know why in Portuguese)...

@numerrita it's not how old your brain is, it's about how long you learn the language for you fucking retard. For example say you were learning a different language, if you learned it for a couple of years, a 6 year old native speaker would still speak it better because, as their mind was developing it took in the language and the structure more easily. At least my brain developed enough that I can spell mature and we right. God damn your parents must of been twins.

I’m using rosetta stone and can tell you that level 1 alone will not satisfy you. You’ll have the speaking ability of a French child. If you’re serious about learning French or another language then I suggest buying all the levels available for that particular language. It’s a waste of money to buy only level 1 people, you’ll regret not buying the package deal, and if you can’t afford to buy each level then you’re better off going with the book and cd method which is a whole lot cheaper.
