ANOTHER IMPORTANT FACT: do not hold out a map in the middle of paris, people will know you are a tourist and A: try taking your stuff and B: will try and scam you when purchasing something.... Paris is really gorgeous! There is never nothing to do! and its for both families and couples which is great! I like it so much I'm ending all my sentences in exclamation marks!
Eiffel Tower is breathtaking even to see it on the ground but as you go up it gets more and more exciting, when you get to the 3rd floor (300m) it's unbelievable. The Arc de Triomphe (Arc of Triumph) is also very cool. The view from the top is very cool. Of course Louvre Museum with Mona Lisa in it is worth taking a look. I know these are the cliche places to visit but they are that for a reason and they are pertty awesome.
I'm off there in jan.. 2012.. can't wait.. I did originally book into a hotel. But canx and booked in with a hostel ( private en suite ) as read good reviews. The hotel I booked into looked a bit dirty. I'm 42 and never been in a hostel.. Just thought it was for students etc. but apprantley that's not the case. If like hostels might book into them instead of hotels.. I only want somewhere to get my head down as I'm out all day.. Next stop Poland visiting Auschwitz.. In march 2012..

Paris is fabulous! I had a wonderful time walking around the city, visiting museums; it was an amazing experience. Hint: As an american you will get a much better reception from the french if you at least try to speak french. Learning a few phases will make all the difference. I found the people to be pleasant, & helpful as well as charming.

I thought Paris was a pretty place to visit. But we had to stand in a queue for nearly three hours waiting to buy tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower! I wish we could buy them online in advance. Paris like London is expensive as hell. Both cities are overpriced for what they offer. As all capital cities are. I am no snob and I am no asshole. Paris is beautiful. The buildings are lovely and I have been there at least three times. Though a city can be wondrous and fantastic it can still be expensive and all capital cities are into ripping off the tourist. If it is sunny great. I went to the Louvre and the orangerie etc et je parle tres bien le francais.

Paris is fabulous! I had a wonderful time walking around the city, visiting museums; it was an amazing experience. Hint: As an american you will get a much better reception from the french if you at least try to speak french. Learning a few phases will make all the difference. I found the people to be pleasant, & helpful as well as charming.

I thought Paris was a pretty place to visit. But we had to stand in a queue for nearly three hours waiting to buy tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower! I wish we could buy them online in advance. The waiting in the queue was much longer than standing in a queue waiting to get on a ride in Disneyland Paris.

Ca me rappelle de bons souvenirs. Moi je vivais à la Garenne Colombes qui est à dix minutes de Saint Lazare. J'aimais bien déambuler dans les petites ruelles inondées de lumière et garnies de boutiques, c'était si agréable. Les rues grouillaient toujours de touristes, venus découvrir les mystères et merveilles de Paris.

I think what gives this impression is the fact that Paris is a fast-paced city, people are always on the move, in a rush, stressed out for whatever reason. It can be very hectic at times. And when you go there as a tourist, you might not run into the happiest of people lol. But living there is quite different and most importantly, you "adapt" to life in the city which enables you to see beyond the negative aspects
