Kid didnt look himself really, his standup looked a little conserved, didnt let his hands fly, and he should have, he was hitting Warren around when he did. He did have a long layoff though, understandable.
It was a close match even though Kid looked not himself, Warren showed he doesnt have great standup, but he is agressive ,and great takedowns. Warren earned the split for sure. But, I see Kid as the better fighter, and a different result if kid gets back to his ways pre-injury fights.

Why is everyone surprised at the end? kid got walked. I think Kid is the better fighter here but he was slower than usual, less aggressive, and seemed to be afraid of the Warren guy (maybe after the quick first take down). Don't know why kid was so lame this fight but a good rematch and eye opening experience for kid in my opinion it was.

kid had good counter punches. the sprawl, take down defense and wrist control was good but the jiu jitsu could have been a lot better. the leg kicks did land but he needed to prepare himself better if the kicks were caught. as you can see that joe caught some of those and it led to several takedowns. if you throw so many leg kicks be prepare for the jiu jitsu portion of the fight. in kids case he did not prepare enough. anyone that trains would agree with me. if you dont, you are just a fan
Joe clearly won the fight. Yamamoto has lost it after being injured for so long, I guess he needs time to pick up again. Anyway, he still has a fight coming up at K1 max. Watch for it.
Joe warren won fair and square, But it's not like yamamoto got the shit kicked out of him, Warren won the fight because of his takedowns. Yamamoto had a few nice counter punches but looked very gun shy like he didn't want to throw anything, But everyone should keep in mind the guy hasn't fought in two years and probly didn't think much of a fighter with a 1-0 record.
Warren was the clear winner. It's nonsense for anyone to say anything else. The judge who scored it for Kid should be ashamed. The fight should have been in the bag for Warren already, but if it wasn't, the last takedown should have clinched it. People need to stop being stupid. Or stop being biased. I'm surprised that since Kid was using Muay Thai this fight he didn't throw as many knees as Warren attempted. I thought I saw some clinchwork earlier in the fight as Kid evaded some of Warren's takedown attempts but never seemed to follow through with those knees.

I've been saying this all along, the kid is overrated and untested. If he truly wants to show his skill, he has to fight the top 135/145 fighters out there. Everybody seems to be nut hugging him when all he has fought are tailor made 2nd and 3rd tier fighters set up by his promoters. It's not hard to look good against them. Lets see how he does against Browns, Torres, Fabers, and Aldos and others. Don't get me wrong he definitely has skill but to think that he's the best? Come on.
I don't know about that...you can't really write the Kid off after his first fight back in a long while. Ring rust had to have been a factor, and he even managed to get the split after such a long absence. He definately wasn't his old aggresive self...I think in time he'll recover his old self a-la-Shogun.
I'm a huge mma fan, I've seen most of the Kid's fights, he has dynamites for hands. But, unfortunately most of those fights are against very weak opponents. He is wasting his time fighting these guys, he is not getting any younger. Who wouldn't pay to see him fight Faber? Then maybe move on to other guys like Brown or Torres. I sure would! It's frustrating to see talent being wasted. Or maybe his management is profiting so much from his superstar status that they are afraid.

True that some of the opponents that he fought in his weight class aren't great, but what made him such a star, specifically during HERO'S era, was that he fought opponents that were 1 or 2 weight classes heavier than him and he managed to finish them.
Yeah, he does pack a punch for a little guy. But, I think that he needs expand and start fighting upper tier fighters around the world. I think he should start with an up and coming fighter named Jose Aldo (14-1 9KOs), who like kid has excellent hand speed and power. Most of the good fighters Kid's fought lack the punching power to challenge him (Rani 1 KO in 18 fights, and Caol 2 KO's in 40 fights) Then maybe Torres 37-1 9KO's and 22 subs or Mike Brown 21-4 who has never been KO'd.
the mma points system is pretty poor. the ground and pound should not be marked the same as standing strikes. all warren really did was take him down, smother him and put his forearm all over kid's face. it was enough to win but i think there needs to be a bit of a change.

Yeah, mma point system has to be somewhat augmented a bit. But, for now I think it works. You can't really say that standing strikes should count more than takedowns because it would be biased towards strikers. Don't forget this is not boxing. If you control a fight with strikes and takedown defense then yes. Kid never controlled this fight even when he was landing. And when he was taken down, he never tried to strike, go for submissions, or try to get back up. He just laid down and held on.

Yeah, I suppose so. There were times in this fight I wished Kid employed some BJJ, I think he may have gotten at least an arm bar and won the fight. But, I guess that that's not really his style. Regardless, when Kid gets the spring back in his step it will be lights out against his future opponents.
Japan's scoring system is different compared to the US. Japan scores the fight mostly on who finishes the strongest. Warren was more aggressive and finished strong, while Kid gassed and tired out due to using too much strength & energy trying to get Warren off of him.

warren has a bright future in the mma but still is very raw. against a in-form kid yamamoto, faber or torres he would get his ass kicked. but more fights under his belt he will be a better final product.
i noticed a lot of dirty tatics by warren tho. when he was on top in the takedown he would use his fingers and hands to block kid's nose and mouth to restrict his breathing. he would also try play around with kid's eyes too.
im glad kid lost this fight. he fought with no fire or aggression that we know of kid. he didnt have that explosion or the awareness. he stunned warren at least 3 times in the 2nd round and didnt finish him off.
i honestly thought it was a draw but no complaints with a SD win for warren.

The posters who say that Kid did more damage need to remember who was bleeding from facial cuts and who had the big mouse under the left eye. It wasn't a top fight, but I thought Warren clearly won due to control, aggression, total number of strikes and damage. Kid probably had slightly more stand-up points, but not nearly enough to outweigh the 75% of the fight he spent on his back losing points to Warren.

What surprises me most about this fight is that they let it continue on the ground for so long with so little damage and action taking place. Usually in the japanese promotions, they're quicker to stand the fight up if a fighter isn't really improving his position or doing a lot of damage. He did damage Kid a bit with an elbow or two, but it seemed like he just maintained position and did minimal damage to keep the fight on the ground.

Joe Warren's size, strength, wrestling, determination and chin were too much for Kid. Kid did get the best of the stand up but Warren had some nice moments there as well (the multiple knees to the face of Kid when in the clinch) BUT Warren took him down and controlled the fight while landing some good shots from the top. Joe Warren is a great Greco-Roman wrestler (Freestyle too) and is going to become even more of a force to reckon with in MMA. Congrats to Joe Warren on this big win!

Well he hasn't been training MMA for awhile, then he broke his arm and had 2 years lay off. You can clearly see he wasn't at his best form, wasn't as aggressive, strong, explosive, etc.

Kid looked good for a 2 year layoff. Warren seemed to take him down easily but couldn't do much ground work due to Kid holding him there. He tried setting up armbars from different angles but failed. Seemed to gas a bit as well. End of 1st and beginning of 2nd Kid landed very easily. Kid won the 2nd round but the 1st was Warren's due to his control on the ground and takedowns. Close fight, but Warren won due to agressiveness, and takedowns. Kid's my favoite fighter, but I agree he lost that one.

This whole tourney was set up for Yamamoto to win (giving him a bye, then the least experienced fighter) and Yamamoto still blew it.
This fight wasn't close at all, Yamamoto never damaged Warren, never had him in trouble, never was pressing the action and basically sat there and took it for 15 minutes.

Kid totally deserved to lose. Gets taken down by a world champ wrestler pulls guard and does nothing. Warren will control you all day from there. Kid made an attempt to create an angle and gets his hips turning with about 10 seconds to go and almost got the armbar. Too little to late. Fair play to Warren, he had a gameplan and executed.
What gets me the most is for the amount of time they spent on the ground there was real lack of jiu-jutsu. There were only submission attempts and both of them were half-hearted armbars from Kid.

Kid didnt look himself really, his standup looked a little conserved, didnt let his hands fly, and he should have, he was hitting Warren around when he did. He did have a long layoff though, understandable.
It was a close match even though Kid looked not himself, Warren showed he doesnt have great standup, but he is agressive ,and great takedowns. Warren earned the split for sure. But, I see Kid as the better fighter, and a different result if kid gets back to his ways pre-injury fights.

Why is everyone surprised at the end? kid got walked. I think Kid is the better fighter here but he was slower than usual, less aggressive, and seemed to be afraid of the Warren guy (maybe after the quick first take down). Don't know why kid was so lame this fight but a good rematch and eye opening experience for kid in my opinion it was.

kid had good counter punches. the sprawl, take down defense and wrist control was good but the jiu jitsu could have been a lot better. the leg kicks did land but he needed to prepare himself better if the kicks were caught. as you can see that joe caught some of those and it led to several takedowns. if you throw so many leg kicks be prepare for the jiu jitsu portion of the fight. in kids case he did not prepare enough. anyone that trains would agree with me. if you dont, you are just a fan

Joe warren won fair and square, But it's not like yamamoto got the shit kicked out of him, Warren won the fight because of his takedowns. Yamamoto had a few nice counter punches but looked very gun shy like he didn't want to throw anything, But everyone should keep in mind the guy hasn't fought in two years and probly didn't think much of a fighter with a 1-0 record.

I'm surprised that since Kid was using Muay Thai this fight he didn't throw as many knees as Warren attempted. I thought I saw some clinchwork earlier in the fight as Kid evaded some of Warren's takedown attempts but never seemed to follow through with those knees.
Maybe he just wanted to walk through Warren and then realized that wasn't going to be the case

I've been saying this all along, the kid is overrated and untested. If he truly wants to show his skill, he has to fight the top 135/145 fighters out there. Everybody seems to be nut hugging him when all he has fought are tailor made 2nd and 3rd tier fighters set up by his promoters. It's not hard to look good against them. Lets see how he does against Browns, Torres, Fabers, and Aldos and others. Don't get me wrong he definitely has skill but to think that he's the best? Come on.

I don't know about that...you can't really write the Kid off after his first fight back in a long while. Ring rust had to have been a factor, and he even managed to get the split after such a long absence. He definately wasn't his old aggresive self...I think in time he'll recover his old self a-la-Shogun.

I'm a huge mma fan, I've seen most of the Kid's fights, he has dynamites for hands. But, unfortunately most of those fights are against very weak opponents. He is wasting his time fighting these guys, he is not getting any younger. Who wouldn't pay to see him fight Faber? Then maybe move on to other guys like Brown or Torres. I sure would! It's frustrating to see talent being wasted. Or maybe his management is profiting so much from his superstar status that they are afraid.

True that some of the opponents that he fought in his weight class aren't great, but what made him such a star, specifically during HERO'S era, was that he fought opponents that were 1 or 2 weight classes heavier than him and he managed to finish them.

Yeah, he does pack a punch for a little guy. But, I think that he needs expand and start fighting upper tier fighters around the world. I think he should start with an up and coming fighter named Jose Aldo (14-1 9KOs), who like kid has excellent hand speed and power. Most of the good fighters Kid's fought lack the punching power to challenge him (Rani 1 KO in 18 fights, and Caol 2 KO's in 40 fights) Then maybe Torres 37-1 9KO's and 22 subs or Mike Brown 21-4 who has never been KO'd.

the mma points system is pretty poor. the ground and pound should not be marked the same as standing strikes. all warren really did was take him down, smother him and put his forearm all over kid's face. it was enough to win but i think there needs to be a bit of a change.
i wouldve had a draw honestly. but at the end of the day kid needs to wake up to himself and use his talents. end of story.

Yeah, mma point system has to be somewhat augmented a bit. But, for now I think it works. You can't really say that standing strikes should count more than takedowns because it would be biased towards strikers. Don't forget this is not boxing. If you control a fight with strikes and takedown defense then yes. Kid never controlled this fight even when he was landing. And when he was taken down, he never tried to strike, go for submissions, or try to get back up. He just laid down and held on.

Yeah, I suppose so. There were times in this fight I wished Kid employed some BJJ, I think he may have gotten at least an arm bar and won the fight. But, I guess that that's not really his style. Regardless, when Kid gets the spring back in his step it will be lights out against his future opponents.

Japan's scoring system is different compared to the US. Japan scores the fight mostly on who finishes the strongest. Warren was more aggressive and finished strong, while Kid gassed and tired out due to using too much strength & energy trying to get Warren off of him.

warren has a bright future in the mma but still is very raw. against a in-form kid yamamoto, faber or torres he would get his ass kicked. but more fights under his belt he will be a better final product.
i noticed a lot of dirty tatics by warren tho. when he was on top in the takedown he would use his fingers and hands to block kid's nose and mouth to restrict his breathing. he would also try play around with kid's eyes too.

im glad kid lost this fight. he fought with no fire or aggression that we know of kid. he didnt have that explosion or the awareness. he stunned warren at least 3 times in the 2nd round and didnt finish him off.
i honestly thought it was a draw but no complaints with a SD win for warren.
that joe warren did impress me tho. very strong and aggressive (which was how kid used to be). needs to control his aggression tho cos he got caught with a lot of shots from kid.

The posters who say that Kid did more damage need to remember who was bleeding from facial cuts and who had the big mouse under the left eye. It wasn't a top fight, but I thought Warren clearly won due to control, aggression, total number of strikes and damage. Kid probably had slightly more stand-up points, but not nearly enough to outweigh the 75% of the fight he spent on his back losing points to Warren.

What surprises me most about this fight is that they let it continue on the ground for so long with so little damage and action taking place. Usually in the japanese promotions, they're quicker to stand the fight up if a fighter isn't really improving his position or doing a lot of damage. He did damage Kid a bit with an elbow or two, but it seemed like he just maintained position and did minimal damage to keep the fight on the ground.

yea, joe warren did throw elbows (those are illegal on the ground btw)
he grabbed the shorts twice, maybe three times, during his takedown attempts. headbutt after slamming him from kid's guard, that busted his nose. this guy was fighting dirty straight through, i don't like him.
i was not happy at all to see this guy get the win. seems like he used a lot of dirty tactics... that shouldn't win the fight. no real damage was done on the ground anyways. i'm pretty pissed at this.

Joe Warren's size, strength, wrestling, determination and chin were too much for Kid. Kid did get the best of the stand up but Warren had some nice moments there as well (the multiple knees to the face of Kid when in the clinch) BUT Warren took him down and controlled the fight while landing some good shots from the top. Joe Warren is a great Greco-Roman wrestler (Freestyle too) and is going to become even more of a force to reckon with in MMA. Congrats to Joe Warren on this big win!

Well he hasn't been training MMA for awhile, then he broke his arm and had 2 years lay off. You can clearly see he wasn't at his best form, wasn't as aggressive, strong, explosive, etc.

Kid looked good for a 2 year layoff. Warren seemed to take him down easily but couldn't do much ground work due to Kid holding him there. He tried setting up armbars from different angles but failed. Seemed to gas a bit as well. End of 1st and beginning of 2nd Kid landed very easily. Kid won the 2nd round but the 1st was Warren's due to his control on the ground and takedowns. Close fight, but Warren won due to agressiveness, and takedowns. Kid's my favoite fighter, but I agree he lost that one.

Yamamoto lost to a complete MMA NOVICE with less experience than any other fighter in the tourney.
This whole tourney was set up for Yamamoto to win (giving him a bye, then the least experienced fighter) and Yamamoto still blew it.
This fight wasn't close at all, Yamamoto never damaged Warren, never had him in trouble, never was pressing the action and basically sat there and took it for 15 minutes.

lol How was he exposed? He lost a split decision. If he had been knocked out quick or just dominated, that's exposed. He gave Warren a tough fight and Warren got the nod.

Kid totally deserved to lose. Gets taken down by a world champ wrestler pulls guard and does nothing. Warren will control you all day from there. Kid made an attempt to create an angle and gets his hips turning with about 10 seconds to go and almost got the armbar. Too little to late. Fair play to Warren, he had a gameplan and executed.

What gets me the most is for the amount of time they spent on the ground there was real lack of jiu-jutsu. There were only submission attempts and both of them were half-hearted armbars from Kid.

Kid is usually a lot more aggressive and explosive. No doubt Warren won this fight though.

Agree. Kid lost a bit of fire. seemed to get tired easily too. But being age 31 is not the same as 27.

A luta em pé foi bastante morna, mas o Warren soube levar pro chão a luta por várias vezes e isto como sempre impressionou os juízes, emboramente não soube ser efetivo nem no ground and pound nem com uma finalização. Já o Kid se defendeu bem todas as vezes mas ñ soube impor seu jogo. Não me pareceu agressivo e contundente na trocação.

So what exactly did warren do other than wrestle...I'm a former college wrestler DI and have done mma...MMA matches should not be scored based off of takedowns...it should be the damage after the takedowns.
IMO Kid did more damage in the stand up game then Warren did overall...i give u that Kid didn't do much on bottom except prevent warren from doin damage also attempted multiple arm bars.
Ref should have stood up the fight a few times...Dream/Pride normally prevent straight wrestling

I agree regarding the takedowns, but keep in mind that shooting in and taking somebody down in DREAM, without it leading to something offensive, does not generate score.
Kid did do more damage, but Warren won it on aggression and control. Albeit a close call.
