@surfclod Actually, no, that's how you hold a Thompson Encore or Contender. It's a single shot, break open hand gun. His mistake was in trying to shoot that cartridge out of a handgun. I shoot a lot of heavy recoiling handguns but that's just stupid.

Just the same as a rifle.Thomson Center Contenders are chambered in rifle calibers mostly so if you have a steady rest you can drop a deer with a .243 Contender at 300 yards just as easily as you could with a rifle in the same caliber.
