Juggling 3 AP classes is hard enough, but dealing with stubborn teachers who will refuse to admit any fault is the ultimate maneuver forcing my dick through my belt loop. I'm taking NONE besides AP Physics because I actually enjoy physics next year
I'm currently in high school, and let me tell you AP classes at some times are easy and others are hard. I myself was up until 2 am just the previous night to get everything I needed to done, and I didn't even manage that. Hours of homework is no question. The one aspect I like in my school's curriculum is what is called a 'filter' but is better known as challenging, extensive summer reading. Look up The Prize. That is just one.
I've been in 7 AP classes. I don't take them because I feel like I have to to get into college, I take them because I'm interested in those subjects and I want a class that's fast-paced and has kids who are more serious in them. I love the AP program, it's not as bad as videos like this would lead you to believe and it allows you to actually LEARN something in school.
I think that ''AP'' classes should not be offered to High School students. This is High School, NOT college. They're forcing kids to grow up too fast.
um, I took 3 AP classes and 8 IB, passed them all and no one gave me a scholarship for it!? It's all BS, no one cares...it's all about SAT/ACT and GPA. AP really isn't that hard either, its a semester of college in a year, you over-dramatic cows.
Schools should take more discretion in who they allow into these classes as my school does, we have to apply to actually take the class, and they choose the students whom they feel will be able to handle the work
I've taken AP Biology in 11th grade, and now as a Senior, I'm taking AP Physics and AP Psychology. AP courses are hard, but not as hard as you would expect. They are only hard for one reason: you have to learn a lot of information in a year or less. You have to cramp a whole chapter in a week or so, plus all the information that goes with it. If you like an AP class, then it will not be challenging AT ALL. I'm going to be a doctor, so AP Biology was fun and easy.
There are many more things I'd like to say on the subject, many supports I wish to give. But this is Youtube & I'd run out of characters. I'm no slacker who lacks commitment to my higher education. I've taken and excelled grade-wise in AP classes (not to plump up my college resume for a stuffy handful of Ivy League schools, but b/c I enjoy deeper learning and hoped they could give me th). Please, look into this issue; The Homework Myth, Race to Nowhere, & Ken Robinson's talks are great sources.
I am deeply disheartened by quite a few of these comments; they are an indication of the indoctrination and desensitization which the kids of my generation have undergone in regards to the lies the school system perpetuates about higher education. They merely discuss whether these courses CAN be managed- not whether they convey any benefit outside of plumping up one's college application, not whether they promote deeper understanding, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
It is definitely a rigorous task. It is definitely not for everyone. It is sad to say that students who want to get in to competitive colleges can't handle AP courses. AP courses is like a filter. It screens out students that does not show full commitment to colleges. College will be a lot tougher. they should really be exposed to that kind of competitiveness. It is called hardwork and sacrifice, guys. If you can stand the heat then stay out of the kitchen. That's the way it is.
i'm in 3 AP classes, and i've heard people from other places say that our AP classes are ten times harder than the AP classes in other places. Yeah, it's hell. Yeah, you need to do it to get into a competitive college.
If this poor girl is sitting at school all day for 7, 8, 9 hours, and then coming home and doing work for 4 hours.....I can imagine that her joints swelled. That's a lot of sitting. It's not a bs excuse at all.
@raptriforcee yeah, the ones in this video is just a small sample of all the students in America. AP is not for everyone. People can't just go in there and do it just because they want to get in to a certain college or university.
Hahaha, "My joints swelled..." WTF! the video is persuasive in my opinion, but this girl's part is plain damn bullshit. IF this is true, it's because she over stressed about her courses. Don't over stress!! Do whatever your ability allows you to do....whatever you can't do, oh well!! Don't expect to do good in all classes...there was is only one Einstein.....Einstein!!!
I think we have to reassure twelfth graders that that year is an important year in their lives and studying is not the only thing worth doing. Meaningful time spent with their friends can have profound positive effects on who they are, too.
It's find for them to take one AP course, or none, rather than two or three or four.
On the other hand, sometimes taking one really hard course *does* teach you how to take in a flood of information efficiently and improve studying habits.
So if college no longer offer credit for A.P. courses then way take the one you really don't enjoy. Yes take the A.P. courses you enjoy!!!! My son in the 5th gr. He take High school math in the summer only because he enjoys math. Why?? I do not now. But Its my job as his mom to help him do what he likes.

We're allowed to drop but we have to sign a contract saying that we won't kill ourselves.

1. AP is a form of weeding- take out the distruptive students who don't care about school.
2. The expectations in non-AP classes are a joke; you'll walk out having learned nothing more than junior high
3. Our educational system is ALL about taking tests. It doesn't start with AP
4. I have yet to see someone study 2-3 hours a night. Yes, there is homework, but it is manageable.

The key, actually, to taking in a flood of information, or at least to absorbing a significant amount of it . . .
is to relax a bit and not be so neurotic.
Anxiety paralyzes us. When we develop a sense of humor about ourselves and our work we can actually take in quite a bit.
But then, it's important to run around, get plenty of fresh air, laugh, and just be young, when you're young, too.
Moderation in all things.
