Hey Brent, received any letterbombs yet from all the people running coaching courses in national programs a round the world. How dare you "dispel" the techniques you need to pass those courses :-).
Good work, answers the common question by commentators "why can't so many pros feel comfortable in the volley" or more specifically "why doesn't Fed serve volley nadal out of wimbledon?"
I like that so many coaches say punch, when they've never punched in their life, or do so very badly too.
Great tips. I would like to hear your thoughts on positioning - too many times I find myself trying to volley with the ball dipping below the net. In doubles, it seems like I get to the service line and either have a really low volley or a half volley. Any thoughts on how to get in position to volley balls above the net? Thanks!
Thanks for the tips.My coach has been teaching me to play out in front and it felt weird but since i was just begining I just thought that was how it was supposed to be when you volley.
This is right on point, and helps clear up the conflict between what I've been taught in the past. I realize that the more I stroke a ball the better the volley. On the other hand, without time a stroke is impractical.
@georgep202 We should always prep the racket for worst case - lots of power coming in from your opponent. If you prep the racket correctly, you can simple re-direct that pace to your target.
If you prep your racket for worst case, and then you get medium to slow pace, then a little back swing to add some pop to your volley is fine - Brent
